Self serving comment in the worst vein. You assume to know what he meant while writing, singing or performing this song???. . . And by the way, you love the Elloit you think you know. Not the one that existed. That man died almost 20 years ago. . . So really. . . How dare you. . . .
@@mrwuffles2305 Plenty. . . But don't ask unless you wanna know. . . I remember the album version. It just seems so ridiculous. In fairness the comment wasn't really necessary. We're all capable of growth.
@@warrinpirimpimpim Yea ahah i know right ikr? People tend to make acronyms out of words when they could just type them out fully really. Isnt it fun? But lame also. And makes you a bit angry at times, and makes you feel dumb when you go looking it up and find out it is really nothing at all or just a silly way of mashing words together. Btw yea 'atf' i confess i wondered what it was myself, then got it down by context that it stood for 'all time favorites'
His last partial record was so fucking amazing. I can't imagine what he would have produced had he made it through. So heartbreaking. American Tragedy.
He’s already the greatest singer/songwriter of any generation IMO. I don’t think anyone will come close for a good while. I just wish he wouldn’t of gotten ahold of them drugs and played into that fuckin’ reckless role. Strange that I found his music more than half my life ago and I’m two years away from the age he died. Fuckin’ hate that I’ll never get to see him play or meet ‘em.
I found him when Good Will Hunting came out. I got to see him play a few months before he passed. A few friends and I just went down there to see if we could get scalper tickets. We'd never done that before. I remember feeling like I wanted to protect him sitting there up on stage
@@friendship6668 so he was doing “Kings Crossing” by then? If so, than I’d probably feel that exact same way or I’d be angry. Not at the fact he was so funked up he couldn’t put on a great show, because I’d take that opportunity in a heartbeat, but because of what potential was being destroyed as well as him being mad selfish. I didn’t discover his music until late ‘04 or early ‘05. A girl sent “Twilight” to me via AOLmessenger or some silly like that. Wish I could remember who she was to thank her.
This to is his most powerful song. He sees the path he's going down, but says "don't let me get carried away, don't let me BE carried away" Saddest, most powerful song I've ever heard. And relatable to me, luckily, I found a way out.
the Basement version of this is song his magnum opus in my opinion. I agree it's a tragedy we didn't get his version of the next album, but I'm damn happy we did get From a Basement on a Hill at all.
Advanced as no one does. From a True guitar player. No ones plays like Him. Close but singing and playing its not something u get wrapped with a nice bow
It's a very personal message about how addiction and showbiz affected his life. The lyrics are actually amazing. I recommend checking genius for the meaning of each and every line.
because we love you

The dude had an affinity for death and understood that our eventual death controls every aspect of our lives.

He was murdered
It was his darkest, in a hopeful way...

a part of me wonders if we did get his version, if a piece of him felt he wouldnt be alive to finish it yk?
I literally said "woww" alone when the video ended. He's sooo good. All the imagery he paints like a picasso

very well

I've been playing the guitar for 4 years and I can say that he is the most underrated player and the melody is in another par of genius level.
