The quality is so great ! Miss misery isn't one of my favorites of his, but this stripped-down performance with the great audio quality is making me hear it in a new light. It's such a fantastic song, great video, thank you @2metersessions for uploading!
There’s something so amazing about every single one of his performances from this session. Thanks for sharing these time and time again, they provide a unique intimacy I can’t quite explain.
@@noodlz1238 you can really see how he almost approaches the guitar like a piano when you compare these piano versions to the studio recordings. Modern day urban genius.
poet, songwriting genius... kind of amazing how music can cut through the all the affectation and bs in life, and go straight to the heart. this song does that to me every, single, time.
Someone once wrote his rough face lines do not fit to his angelic soft voice and I aggree... but in a good way. For me he is the perfect character in real life for a sad, really sensitive, humble, indie musician, his always sad look, the black messy hair, even his name is for me a really emotionful name, Elliott Smith, saying it makes me already sad, melancolyc with a sad smile on. And the tragic ending ... just so painful. Hope he knew how important he is for people.
Hey that might have been me who wrote that comment! (in his Waltz#2 video from this session). Although probably many others have noted/wrote the same, lol). Kudos, Elliot is up in Heaven waiting for us!
I am listening to this on heavy rotation now that I've found it ... I don't want to spam comments, but this is just the best thing I have heard in a long time. The ending is just sublime. Next door TV's flashing blue frames on the wall It's a comedy of errors you see It's about taking a fall I just can't believe how wonderful of a singer-songwriter he was. It's almost too good to be true.
What a beautiful talent ES was .. i was never into his music when my friend was always saying to give him a chance i was always like metal music blah blah... 18 years later Elliott is 1 of my favorite artists.. I hope he found his piece, and i hope he is haunting that Chiba lady cause i believe she did it...
in 2024, to see his pores, to hear his soul, to see this song anew in this format... i'm 40 years old and i've been obsessed with this song for more than 25 years. thank you, so, so much for sharing this.
Elliot was so special, he had an almost childlike innocence, and yet so many complex emotions that he expressed.
“Do you miss me?”
Yes we do Elliott
Elliott's voice is so tender and vulnerable it makes me cry. What a brilliant musician.
just a heads up, it never gets old I've been listening to him for like 10 years and I still get that feel.
I can't believe I've never seen this footage, I thought I'd seen all of the elliott smith recordings. This one is one of the best.
Absolutely astounding to see Elliott play with this much clarity
Finally, the quality of this is mindblowing, thank you very much!

this kinda fucked me up
It's one of the most beautiful songs ever written
I'm not crying you're crying
We all are
breath taking 😢
Gets me every time.
Great quality
great version
That's how it's done.
TO PUT BAD THOUGHTS IN MY HEAD
Solo habia una forma de que ésta canción fuera mas triste... A piano y voz ❤
oh my god wow
excellence
It’s not your fault
🖤
The best soundtrack

Te extrañamos elliott :(
was it just this and waltz 2?
And “I didn’t understand” (my favorite of the 3)

Assuming the UA-cam video isn’t incorrect, Sorry my mistake was also recorded as well (audio only) but it cuts off about halfway through
This recording is fucking nuts
This might be the most hauntingly beautiful thing I've ever heard
This will be played at my funeral.

@@jaconova It was you, glad you are still around & noticed it ^^
I actually like the rough face lines. They make him stand out even more. Elliott was a beautiful soul.
He was a genius. Truly.

can you upload I didn’t understand from that session in this quality?
ua-cam.com/video/M3JybfnsB2M/v-deo.html
I like this better than the recording used at the end of Good Will Hunting. A perfect performance.
1998???? 🤯
incredible
It's beautiful just that
A duet with Bright Eyes would have been epic.
