Thanks to Bob Wills and Bing Grosby....it is one song unforgettable so beautifull. ..respect for interprétation of Merle RIP with my love ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏👍👍👍😭😭😭
A great version of this classic ! Several members of Wills original band played with Merle for a while. Unfortunately, none are playing here. It still swings !!
I like also they snakestàntiag ? Soŕry but Iove all of Merle!!! This song is one dream swing and beautifull voice of my lovecountrysonger. RIP my love for the eternity❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏
As I live and breathe, I've loved this piece since I was still shittin' yella. Bob Wills Is one of the musical deities. Merle really honored him with his cover. As times went on, music lost so much of what made it magic. If music doesn't evoke a positive emotional response, it's only noise. I'm so glad I was alive when ALL the music ....was....Magic !! We've allowed it to just turn to shit. This piece just jerks at the very chocles of mi corozon !
My heartloving MERLE unforgettable côuntryloversonger beautifull man you have all ways the good Brigitte idea for find your inspiration for your songs and you are the best my césar imperator countrymusicman ❤❤❤I love you in the eternity RIP with my heart broderie forever to mutch beautifull man ❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 of course thoughts sweetlys sincerely and very admiratives to merveilleuse Haggardfamily 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 (2024/02/03) more all billions love to you great Merle ❤❤❤
Some "posthumous" appreciation on my part I guess - this version blows me away! Superbly done, Merle! Dare I say it - better than Bob Wills? (OK, I won't say it, I'll just think it!)
I think the fiddler on Merle's right is Gordon Terry. Norm Hamlet on steel and Roy Nichols next to him on electric lead guitar. The twin guitars were a core of Merle's band The Strangers for a long time.
Was that Paul Anastasio on his left and behind him about half way through. He is a great fiddler I met at fiddle camp a few years ago. I have been told Merle was a worthless drunk but to put credit where credit is due he did some of the best music ever heard. This video also shows his fiddle skills. Jim
JamesRambur134 I would not call his immense talent worthless He is a Treasure who will be greatly missed! He loved the Lord and was not ashamed to say so
When he was teaching himself to play fiddle Merle would call up Wills in Tulsa and play over the phone for Bob. After the call Wills' wife Betty would ask, "How is his playing, Bob?" Wills answer was, "Aww 'bout like Johnnie Lee".
Patsy Cline had a beautiful voice. She did great renditions of Hank Williams songs as also this one. But the original Hank Williams songs sound better to me. As for this one. The original Bob Wills song was much better when Patsy Cline sang it, but the Hag really nailed it. Yeah he truly was a real musician. Gotta love the Hag!

+Laurel Perkins Now he's dead, and on his birthday no less

Wow I never knew Merle could play fiddle...
Glen same here, and what a voice. :)
When he was teaching himself to play fiddle Merle would call up Wills in Tulsa and play over the phone for Bob. After the call Wills' wife Betty would ask, "How is his playing, Bob?" Wills answer was, "Aww 'bout like Johnnie Lee".

RamBeuk Merle Haggard had a beautiful voice. Don't care much for Patsy Whine.
Haha. Funny. But you're right, the originals are way better.
And for this one. I love this song by Merle Haggard. He did have a great voice!
