You say that emphatic 'do', 'does', 'did' are never used in questions. But we do use them in subject questions: "I thought MacHardie & Company would go on forever". "What does go on forever, Alfred ?" (J.O'Hara). Unemphatic variant: "What goes on forever?"
+Gabriel Avila fantastic question. Although it sounds strange, yes we sometimes do say this. However, if you want to avoid this repetiotion you can say 'I really do my homework or of course I do my homework'. Sending my warmest greetings to you.
Is it wrong to always use did as an emphasis when telling a story?I really want to avoid having a mistake using my tense so, I want to always use did before the verb like instead of I WANTED TO BE WITH HER BUT SHE REJECTED ME I will just say I DID WANT TO BE WITH HER BUT SHE DID REJECT ME
Please make a video about PASSIVE REPORTING VERBS because I have watched lots of videos on UA-cam but they make me quite confused if V1 and V2 are in the simple past tense or V1 is in simple past tense and V2 is in the past continuous tense. They have many versions of those, so the more I have watched, the more I become confused. Ex1: They said Tom killed the man. Version 1: Tom was said to have killed the man. Version 2: Tom was said to kill the man. So, which one is correct? Ex2: They said Tom was watching TV. Version 1: Tom was said to have been watching TV. Version 2: Tom was said to be watching TV. So, which one is correct?
i really want to appriciate your wonderful teaching ...... plzz do continue your extraordinary classes n plzz if it is possible to start a live chat..... u would be very thankful........ namrata from india
Hello teacher, thanks for your time; I have a question, you said that do, does and did is only used in affirmative phares but in others channel used this auxiliary in negative and question, can you clarify this point?
We can't not use "helps" because tense should be past उसने मदद करने का वादा किया था और निश्चित रूप से मदद की । In this case we can use " Helped " But when we have to emphasize ,,, we use *"did" help* . इसका अर्थ रहेगा कि - उसने मदद की भी । *"did" help* जोर दे रहा है कि मदद कर भी दी ।
I do thank you for being an extraordinary teacher.

Hello teacher, thanks for your time; I have a question, you said that do, does and did is only used in affirmative phares but in others channel used this auxiliary in negative and question, can you clarify this point?
Thank you very much
very clear understanding.
you DID taught us well!!
how do we do with the auxiliaries of other tenses?
How will we use it other tenses except simple present or past.
I have a question you said... I said I would marry you and I did marry you! why after would marry is in the base form?
I'll go answer you, okay? Because "would" is an auxiliary and when a sentence have an auxiliary don't need the verb in another form, I guess.
thanks....
it is in the rule that Auxiliary Verbs should always be followed with base form of the VERB.
Divina Escalera Yeah but I was talking about the verbs followed by others forms
(past and past participle), the base form is used.
Where can we put the aux verbs do, does and did usually, is it after the subject?
Before the subject
Can we use it in continuous sentences?
Can we use it in Future tense?
thanks i really enjoy your small class.
amazing video..thanks paul
It was excellent i appreciate you buddy, please add more e.g grammer
Hello sir.
I'm come from Bangladesh
Here
Jhon promised to help and he certainly ( did) help.
Why do not use
"Helped" & " helps"
Please sir clear it.
We can't not use "helps" because tense should be past उसने मदद करने का वादा किया था और निश्चित रूप से मदद की ।
In this case we can use " Helped "
But when we have to emphasize ,,, we use *"did" help* . इसका अर्थ रहेगा कि - उसने मदद की भी । *"did" help* जोर दे रहा है कि मदद कर भी दी ।
