I've just run across you and your lesson right now. I've been impressed by your clair and precise way of explaining things! Glad to meet you and thank you. :-)) Bravo! Grazie. ;-)
Paul , you are great ! I really look up to you ! So well structured presenting. Thank you for working in Russia and all these recordings you are making !
your teaching is excellent mr. paul. i appreciate it. i had the sproblem of i got my sister to clean the house and i got my house cleaned. is there any difference if i say i got my sister to clean the house. another question is can i say i got my baby washed or i got my wife to wash the baby.
+oswald lobo Thank you for your nice comment:) So, if we use get+inf, it gives the idea of "ordering" someone. ("So sister, clean the house, do it! Now!) but in the second structure (I got my house cleaned) you are saying that you "had" it cleaned and (because there is no infinitive structure) you are not ordering someone. The same principle works for your second example with the baby. Very interesting examples. I will use them in class :)
The sentence “another question is can I say...”, which is sound a little bit weird, I suggest that it’s much better to say “ another question is that whether I can say...”.
Hello, Paul. I think, causative is passive, because I do not do the action. f.e. I want to wash my car, but I don't do it. Another person do it for me.It's really interesting, but very confused. I always make mistakes. Thanks for your video.
sir as i am english learner i want to clear my doubts about english grammar some people saying that i had a hair cut is it correct using article before hair. another question is can i say to my small child go get your dressed on by mother(here child himself not put on his dressed ). here can we say put your dress on by mother. i would be grateful to you if you answer this.
Hello Paul, first of all, congratulations and many thanks for your lessons. Could you please make a video in which you explain conditionals? Thank you in advance, this channel is awesome!!!
Paul, thank you for the video. My question concerns not the grammar aspect of the video, but pronunciation. You're ending up this video with the phrase: "Have a [ei] wonderful evening and I will see you later". You quite often pronounce the indefinite article like this. Is it the American variant? Is it informal? Can students use this variant taking exams? May be this could be a material for another post? Thanks!
Hello! Help me. I need to rewrite the sentence using HAVE SOMETHING DONE. 1. Did a professional make the cake for you? 2.Somebody stole my car last weekend. 3.An electrician fitted the new lights for Sandra. 4. The woman had asked the waiter to bring the bill to the table. 5.They employed a plumber to fit the shower. 6.Have you asked the secretary to fax the contract to Mr Oakwood? 7.He told the student to clean the blackboard. 8.Mr Norton told his assistant to write the report.
Thanks for the lesson. My question is this, can I tell to my little sister, go and get your hands washed? Because she is washing her hands by her own, literally this is the tap that helps her to get her hands washed, there's no one here to help her.
Sir what is the differences amongst these sentences? 1. I will have my assistant call you to reschedule the appointment(is this active or passive,or this sentence is wrong ) And 2. I will have my assistant called you to reschedule the appointment (is this active or passive,or this sentence is wrong) 3. Roxana Cano my car will be washed tomorrow by my brother) But the notion of me "wanting someone to do" it is gone.
