- I've always enjoyed making mountains of gold and I finally had a chance to do it right. Since I'm able to simply spawn it without having to mine it that means I can get much more. I basically just had to let my autoclicker run for 8+ hours and that was it.

The most efficient way to accomplish this I think would be to have three straight belts that terminate with them all feeding into a central consolidator manifold, and then on the flanks of that huge belt you have secondary conveyors that all point in towards the middle, one, maybe two rows of them, and then you take sheet metal and angle up some pieces to make basically a trough. All of that then feeds directly into the up belts, which take it all the way to the top of the skybox, a few more straight pieces with metal sides to form a belt with walls that will push everything to the dump point, and then just yeet it all off the end. Although personally I would have used gold bars that were set at like I don't know 100, and then run them through a counter logic gate so that you could then calculate exactly how much wealth was in your mountain of wealthiness.
That is the proper way, DF does not do the proper way lol.
Or he could just put a table in the sky and spawn it directly onto the mountain

Is there some sort of fencing, or could you rig up some sort of fencing using the items that are in game? If you contain the initial pile, it could work to get a pretty nice pile thats not super spread out? Maybe?
I think you could ring an area with inward facing conveyor belts to help a little bit, too, and also add a little bit of a chute around the drop-off point from the top to help centralize where it falls, though it seems the bouncing is the biggest issue.
Achieving its ultimate form would probably require some method of modding the physics engine to stop the bouncing and infinite collisions within the pile.
You can use the wall parts
or slowing down the fall somehow so it doesn't bounce so far when it hits the ground/pile, like dropping closer to the ground, or having like an 'obstacle tube' to bounce around in as it falls to lolse some energy or something

12:00 ... Two Ideas
1) Now redo it but instead of making a mountain over 8 hours have all the gold drop into a smelting pot for say 1 hour and then cast that 1 hours worth of gold and then dupe the gold bars and see if you can make a mini pyramid (like 6 converyors high) out of million+ dollar gold bars since they might not bounce as hard.
2)redo this experiment but instead of starting so high right off the bat allowing the gold to bounce way far away instead start with the conveyor going straight out and only going up like 4 conveyors to start with, once the less bouncy nuggests get near the top then back up the conveyors by 4 to raise them up by 4 more, then repeat, maybe if the highest you are dropping is 4 high then it will form a much tighter pyramid due to getting less speed from falling so far at once.
I would definitely love to see him use those ideas

Use the press to make bigger gold pieces, then lower the altitude of the drop. This way there are fewer pieces (less lagg) and less splashing (tighter, higher pile). Gl hf!

Hey DF, you can use boxes and create a ring to corral the gold that falls. When the gold reaches the top of the boxes, add another layer, gradually movong inward to make a taper. Then when you're done, remove all the boxes (starting with the BOTTOM ring; if you start at the top they'll just fall all over the place) 👍

How about narrowing that pile by putting some tables at a 90° angle facing the pile ? Basically design an empty pyramid, pile up the gold inside of it so it has it's shape then remove the shell and see if it holds in place or crumble ?

You should take that idea but add a chain of funnels going down, that way the pile is taller than wider. And if the pile ever reaches a funnel you just get rid of the bottem 3 and let it build more

Great vid! Keep up the amazing content if u stop I might die. ANYONE I have an idea: So maybe don't make the conveyor as high so the gold bounces less and it gets higher but make like to lvls one not too tall and one tall and after a bit change the conveyor to the higher route!
I think within the limits of the game, you'd probably need to have some kind of containing base in order to actually make the gold pile UPWARDS instead of just bouncing off and spreading out. The in game physics of gold falling from that height just wants to make them roll away, so having a pit or an edge of boxes to get things starting moving upwards, so the gold is falling a little less far, might help improve the gold pile a bit

i'd like to see another attempt at a lag-free horrifically efficient setup (iirc smelters destroy the ore entities, so it reduces the load but keeps the gold value in the pot)
