  • Frank Marino has been a mentor and inspiration to Pigtronix. His input and encouragement was instrumental in the development of the Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone.
    In this video, Frank demonstrates how he combines the Philosopher's Tone Germanium Gold, with the FAT Drive. Make sure to watch the unbelievable shredding at the end of this video. Thank you for everything Frank!

    Hi Mr. Marino. It's great to see that you're still rockin". You inspire me. Just for a note, I saw you and Mahogany Rush over 40 years ago at John F. Kennedy High school in Montreal. It was a great show. I wish you continued success.

    Frank, you rock man! I was trying to hear a demo of the Philosopher's Tone pedal, but couldn't find a decent one. Then I hit this page, and whammo! You play a fine SG sir. Thank you for doing such a useful and jammin' video for us.

    I have a memory of you playing Pocono Downs, PA as part of a huge outdoor event. Ted Nugent, Edgar Winter, Henry Paul Band, and a couple of more. Would have been late 70’s. You were getting ready to play Johnny B Goode and one of your pedals took a nosedive. You disconnected it , flipped it back stage and played the song faster than I could hear. It was awesome. Also really dug Tales of the Unexpected. Your clean/jazz section of the title cut makes that one of my favorite songs ever. I’ve played now for 50 years and you have always been an inspiration. Keep it real brother. 🤘

    I was maybe 15 in 77 iirc and played FM and MR Live over and over. I learned every song and remember having a row of Electro Harmonix pedals to get that tone. EVH landed soon after but Ed was from another dimension and I was just not wired to play his style. Playing Frank, Joe Perry and Billy Gibbons were obtainable where as Ed was not.

    A bit off topic, but what is it going to take to get Joe Satriani to ask Mr Frank to play on a G3 tour before anymore time passes? Come on, Frank is amazing, lets show some love Mr Joe! I'm listening to Frank jamming while writing this, and I'm laughing out loud because he is so good... very few get that reaction from me. Frank! Frank! G3! G3!

  • @stubhead
    @stubhead 8 років тому

    Mongo-cool guitar! I find it BAFFLINGLY Bazeerdo that you can't get... not SG, but a real-ish Les Paul with the "correct" wood, and a real-ish 335 - both with THREE SINGLES. It's quite an obvious idea. The full & even a bit dark wood but then the pickups would CONQUER mush! I'm using the -ish to indicate I don't care about brands, just quality. Mr. Ibanez? Where ARE you, dood.... Mr. Turser? Mr. Kelly? Mr. Schecter?
    I too am glad to see Marino still at it! Not my usual cup, but I've always LOVED the story about how a barely-yet-twankin' Frank-in'jested a HUGE overdose of LSD accidentally (?), and when he finally (months!) floated back down to Earth orbit, he was the reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix! He could play every Hendrix song note-for-note...which even Hendrix couldn't do. It's not a TRUE story, he didn't start it, nobody knows who did -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> -> ->
    BUT IT'S A KILLER FRIKKIN' STORY, HUH? At times "the truth" oughta just shut the fuck up and go back where it came from.

    One of my all time favorite guitar heros here. The music industry wanted Frank to be a musical whore and play what they wanted him to play. Well he rightfully told them to go fuck themselves. "I play what I like because that is what I am good at"
    And he is right. They should have left him alone so he could have continued to provide us with some great music.
    But I just heard the live DVD will be released sometime this year, and I want a copy for damn sure !
