- This pontoon originally came with two sets of interior speakers and a stereo in the dash which didn't sound very good. In addition, the blue LED for the pontoons were defective after only a little time on the water.
Justin, the owner of the pontoon was looking for a much better sounding system and one that would give him the flexibility to listen outside the pontoon without blasting the people inside. Since the in dash radio and existing speakers were decent, we kept those as part of the system and upgraded from there. Since the original system had no amp, we added the Rockford Fosgate TM400x4AD as the heart of the system. Half of the amp runs the two pairs of original speakers and the other half runs the two pairs of new exterior speakers. The entire system sounds so much better at all volume levels with the new amp installed and Justin can run as much sound inside and/or outside of the pontoon as he wants. Total control.
For speakers, we chose the Memphis Audio MXA60L 6.5" speakers which include RGB LED lighting on the grills. The new speakers were mounted facing the exterior, both on the front and rear, so the audio system can be enjoyed outside the pontoon, on demand. Of course, these speakers were cut into the exterior metal panels which are rather thin and rattle considerably. To remove the rattle and get better sound, we added DD Audio's EA3.1 mat to control the vibrations.
Since the exterior LED's for the pontoon were defective we removed them and installed new RGB LED's for the pontoons. We tied the new pontoon LED's in with the new speaker LED's so the entire exterior changes color together. Of course we added a wireless RF remote control and an RGB amplifier to run the larger system. Tinned wire, soldered connections, adhesive lined heat shrink, stainless steel fasteners and marine grade equipment throughout the install will last a lifetime on the water.
When amc pops I will buying a boat like this
Love all that old school music!!
what exterior lighting did you use? Also how did you tie the lighting together between speakers and exterior lighting?
Nice work, too bad I’m in Chicago. Great ideas, I have that same boat.
Did you not think a sub was needed?
When switched to sound effects lighting, the lights didn’t follow the music, more of a dim to slow bright effect, I’m saying this after just watching a young man show his simple version of LED to speaker lighting steps that actually followed every beat to the music played,(big difference). I’m just asking a curious question if you don’t mind.
I saw that too...
Wiring it your speaker outputs can change to the beat
With me doing the install myself how much would u say the set up is
How did you attach the led lighting to the pontoons
How can I order those light and I'm wanting to pit those on my carolina skiff j16
Did you have to add another battery?
What did you use to stop the rattling?
We used a damping material. I don't recall which version but likely something like DD Audio's EA3.1 or Stinger's Roadkill Expert. Makes a huge difference.
What light is that
Did you cut those speakers in the front and rear right into the seats?
The backs of some seats are hollow and thus don't need to be cut. Some are not hollow and need to be cut. Sorry, I don't recall what this particular model needed. We just do what the proper job requires.
@@SweetSounds clean set up thanks.
@@jayknowles3752 Thank you.
This looks great, I have this exact boat. Could you provide me the exact parts (Speaker, amp, lights) that you used?
