I’m so proud of you and your family. I once read “We are not responsible for the circumstances we are in, but we are responsible for the way we allow those circumstances to affect us; we can either allow them to get on top of us or we can allow them to transform us into what God wants us to be.” You have turned the chaos of a natural disaster and stresses of modern life and found the beauty of simple and uncluttered living. Just by watching your video, I can smell the fresh air, and hear the birds singing. You are a talented communicator and an asset to your community. Blessings 🕊️
I've recently become a stay at home mom after having a high stress management job. The slow pace, the lack of stress, and the blessing to enjoy my children without time constraints is such a gift. Thanks for sharing this was really insightful
A blessing to hear this from a young woman! (I'm 58yo wife and mom of grown son) Being able to stay at home with your children can be such a blessing for all of you. Keep up the good work!
Our small church here near Birmingham AL just collected a van full of water, winter clothes, coats, hats, and gloves and took to a church in NC to distribute to people in need
Glad you made it. we lost civilization for 32 days. i know a few people that still do not have utilities. they were told maybe by spring. that is rough. I did find life after loss of utilities. actually talked to neighbors, and family.
Thank you for all your videos! You address spiritual and emotional topics that others are not talking about during the process of recovering from Helene.
In 1987 I homesteaded on my property in the woods as a single mom of two small children. There was no electricity or water on the property. We lived camping, spending most of our time outdoors. This was one of the most wonderful times of my life. Eventually, I married a man who desired the conveniences. But the two children who lived that early life with me and myself know that life without internet was better.
Thanks, Heidi - I appreciate you sharing these life lessons with us! I retired several years ago and moved from Texas to Waynesville, NC and loved living in WNC! After Helene hit, I decided to head for Missouri so I could be closer to my kids and grandson. I was only about an hour west of where Helene did the most damage and I am so very grateful to have survived that devastation. All the scenery around you looks so very familiar to me and brings back so many wonderful memories of my friends and my church! Thank you for continuing to post - I will be keeping you and yours in my prayers, along with my peeps in WNC! Hugs & Hallelujahs!❤
You made so many excellent points in this video, things to really take notice of and live by. Thank you for this channel. The music you played for this was so beautiful!
I hope to grow with you on your journey! I’m a single homeschooling mom of four. I want to slow down but I feel such pressure to check the boxes and make the deadlines that I feel like I’m living in a borderline state of burnout. As much as I want to, I don’t know how to stop the cycle.
You have a lot on your plate! Praying that you can see what really matters and enjoy this season of life and with your children. Give yourself some grace and stay grateful, friend.
Oh Mama I am burnt out by homeschooling and daily life with only two. I would like to recommend you read the Sarah Mackenzie book Teaching from Rest. It has really helped me!
Good Evening Heidi!!!! I have been feeling a hunger to be outside and disconnected from the internet of things for about 7yrs. I am praying the Lord will lead me since I have been unhappy for a very long time. I left my job in Oct so I could be with my grand daughter while my Son changed from afternoon shift to day shift. She just turned 3 so we have been doing as much as we can outside and she absolutely loves to work. At that age they don’t know the difference between play and work and its building character. I would love for us to find those like us where we can work together and commune as it truly was meant to be. My Son and I both feel stuck becuz resources just are not available like they used to be and everyone is trying to survive. I would really ❤ any prayers that anyone feels led to pray for my Son Ryan,my Granddaughter and myself (Donna) that Jesus leds us to a better way😊 I was really emotionally affected by what you all have been through. I am in Michigan but My ❤knows it could be us any day as well. I have had you all in my prayers and you are such an amazing person. I would consider it a blessing to call you friend. Blessings from Michigan❤️🙏🏻
🙏🙏🙏 My wife and I have experienced these 30+ years, that the closer we get the God The more we don’t fit in to this world or even into our church setting here on the East Coast. I pray you cast your cares to Jesus, Holy is His name. His kingdom come and will be done on earth, (on Donna and her family), as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, your provision, your blessing, and most of all your Holy Spirit…….He thought of us that day, on the cross and never stops thinking of us, may that be a comfort to us who are in Christ… He invites us to come. (Matthew 11:27-30)God bless us,every one.❤

This is our new normal in a temporary season of life until the shop is built with temporary living space until, LORD willing, the house is built next summer/fall. @ we are next to Cedar City, UT up on a ridge. The city fathers have directed soils engineers to require certain soiled areas to be emptied of flood risk soils that could be washed away from flash floods. My dear husband had to empty a quarter acre 8’ deep and refill it with “good” soil, i think ended up being 2 million tons of new dirt. Since we have more time than money he has moved all this dirt one tractor bucket load at a time. So I appreciate your caution about non destructive areas. The requirement was a bit overkill since we are on a ridge, but you can’t buck the system. The valley view will be worth all this trouble. God has His hand on us.

Not all of these things are my experiences, but some I also have heard of or friends have done. One is eating a lot of organic hot cereals for breakfast that you buy in bulk. No cold cereals. Also buying bulk items, and especially organic, at Costco instead of shopping at the regular grocery store. This goes also for trying to stock up when things are on sale and turning down things as much as possible when they are not. It's also really important to cook mostly from scratch and keep things more simple and also eat as much what is currently in season. Maybe you could do your vegetable and fruit shopping at the farmers market? I used to price out the recipes I was making to find out what ones were more economical when we were super tight on money for a few years. We also always ate up our leftovers and did not throw away food. We did not go out to eat and did not buy much convenience food at all. Could you possibly have a small garden in your yard next year? Can you cut down on your meat consumption and eat more lentils and beans and cheese some of the days? Not drinking any sodas or energy drinks and other expensive things can help to period I have always made my coffee at home and bought a lot of it at Costco which saves a bundle! Hope this helps!
@christinatom9146 thank you so much some of that did help I'm looking into making some of our things from scratch like bread which I have never done before and my town is about to get a Costco so I will be looking at that as well I'd like a garden but I would have to have a raised bed because I'm renting any suggestions on the best things to plant in a raised bed?

❤ much of what you said, rings true and Parallels how the Lord has been leading my wife and I most recently. We make this connection with your video in light of the scripture and the prophecy of the days we live in. It gives meaning to the words, “what was meant for evil God works good “. We are represented in his word, and that word is, “Therefore He says: 'Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light. (Ephesians 5:14). A deepening question is, when will we realize the worldly, corporate style that most churches have adapted. We live in a New York suburb, and have experienced firsthand the divisive and over bearing leader ship of “Man-made church” I now call, “church American style “.😢😢😢 We identify with your theme, and yet we don’t seem to hear it from church much. Reminds me of another scripture, Psalm 51: 17……… What was a dawning for us was to take the things you’re saying about a chaotic lifestyle, and simply compare it to The hypocrisy of the success driven message of main stream church.😮😮😮
With the excess mold problem, I wonder how many Bible readers will finally decide to observe the week of unleavened bread next spring to combat excessive yeast build up in their body, knowing that there is a health benefit to doing so. After losing access to their home, I wonder how many Bible readers will now observe the week of the feast of booths next autumn which has an important 'outdoor living' lesson.
I appreciate you sharing your experiences. I've heard you say several times that the government did very little to help you. We can't expect the government to save us. I teach my kids that we must be prepared to save ourselves. We need to have a mutual assistance group, a tribe, a community. Call it whatever you like, but we need our own group of people that we do life with. Within this group, we look after one another. It sounds like you have a small group like this on your property already. Just expand that out to a few more families. Really on one another and the next time there is a castostrophic situation, you won't need the government. I pray that things are beginning to get back to normal. God bless you and your family
Amen- I couldn't agree more! Exactly why we keep sharing- so many believe that things will just "get fixed"-- and that is certainly not how it works. Community is so very important! ❤️
@@HeavenlyMindedHome With all due reverence, does anyone think it is problematic that government over-reach, in the context of land grabs, is clearly infringing on our GOD-given Rights in America (the Land of the Free because of the Brave)...no less?😮😟😓😱 How can we celebrate Veterans Day, in all good conscience, if the military went rogue? No offense. I double Dare you to Rapture in Real Time!😇~Love you lots in JESUS'S intervention, ^Dr. Lady S. here^
We all need a personal, dynamic relationship with the real JESUS CHRIST of the HOLY BIBLE. 📖 Please command your Soul to Rapture right quick! {1 Thessalonians 4:17-18} and {Titus 2:13} are essential. Simply put, I have no desire to disrespectfully debate with anyone. I'm just talking about some things I know about. Oh, death, where is your sting? Grave, where is your victory? Dead things come alive in the Name of JESUS. We need a spiritual, mutual assistance group...at the very least. Community is a miracle-gift from GOD! What a SAVIOR! Please pray for the worldwide, 'Great Commission' Task Force and conversion of all souls in the human family. 🙏We are all responsible for fighting problems. Being held accountable is our civic duty. *tone of deep compassion and empathy* Where is the needed, righteous indignation against all heinous, weather wars?😡 I'm not dwelling on the make-believe. I encourage you to do your due diligence and research the cause of hurricane Helene. Thanks. Be encouraged!~Love in celebrating our King JESUS always, +Dr. Lady S.+
Let's all remember, yes wnc is where the storm hit worse, but the storm not only hit wnc, it got Gastonia, lincolnton, hickory, 2 hours or so east of where y'all are. I'm not into conspiracy theories, I'm into facts. Please do your due diligence in terms of research. Our displaced anger is a symptom of our grief. See: {John 10:10} and {Jeremiah 29:11} in the Good Book. GOD is not to blame, buddy. We have to buck the system via: the Mightiness of the HOLY SPIRIT. We are not defeated in CHRIST. Your backbone is essential. No offense. Simply put, we all need to have robust, respectful discussions about the Cause and Effect of hurricane Helene... without any denial. I get that the shock and trauma are real. All in all, I'm sensitive to peoples' needs through all this loss and horror. Is this forced-off-grid living going to facilitate and usher in the True Rapture? Are we all just waiting around for the next catastrophic (carnal) disaster to strike in America? Alarming! I wish everyone all the best. May each of you experience perfect healing from every trauma through the LORD'S lavish love. Dead things come alive in JESUS'S Name. The world needs to unite for the children. We all have good reason to cry. Friend, you are destined to live. Hold on! We'll get through this...intentionally and prayerfully. The reward will be spectacular! I want to encourage everyone. Nature is beautiful, indeed. Sunlight-driven days and the romance of fresh air, outdoors, are miracles from GOD. Heidi is a GOD-send. You were supposed to be born. You were so meant to be. Family teamwork is key frfr. Caveat: With all due dignity, what exactly is Heidi eating on a day-by-day basis? Is the water too contaminated to drink? Just wondering. Our TRINITY-GOD is still in control. Don't give up!~Love in the Power of Agape' Hope, ^Dr. Lady S.^

Lady S.^
Isn’t it weird that you pay your taxes that gets paid overseas to other countries for foreign aid- yet there is none left when you need it?
Maybe you need to sort that out.
Pretty sure those decisions aren't mine to make. ;)
They bail out banks, automobile manufacturers and airlines but not our people.🤬🤦
Need more discipline
