Love this song...had 3 left off the list until last fall, but I sang along with Corey Morrow and REK's show at Floores. Only SA rodeo or El Paso sunset left. Fireworks on PK will always be my happy place.
Yes, they said, "hadn't been to the Houston Rodeo" in the first chorus ... Also, the Houston Astros play this song after a home game - and it was loudly played when we won the World Series in November!!
Cool tune! Gary P. Nunn's "What I Like About Texas" has been called an unofficial Texan anthem, too. Yes, Texas is a very BIG state, and there are a lot of places left out from Beaumont to El Paso, Amarillo to Brownsville, and everywhere between.
Another terrific Texas song! I'm loving your choices Jacob, and I think I'm becoming a diehard fan of Texas music. Thanks for being the DJ Jacob, and thanks Don for another great reaction!
Only 3 of those I haven't done at least once. Haven't been to big bend, haven't climbed enchanted rock, and I was too young to drink a shiner at luckenbach when I went.
Jacob!!! Big Bend… you gotta!!! The song left out Bells Camp. The Jolly Fox. Battle of the Piney Woods. The Blue Lagoon. Aggie Role Call tribute (which was done for my Dad in Nevada when he passed), and an understanding that us Texans take care of each other no matter any political or ideological views. #Texasforever
@Hatley Howard yeah at big bend I believe you can see the night sky as it was before electricity polluted it to what we see today. I've seen pictures of the true night sky and want to experience it firsthand
Hooray for the return of the states intro! (Dave’s preferred visual!) Maybe you would consider a throwback of the old intro tune as well one of these times! (my favorite 😂) Dave would have something to say about this song but his jaw is just regaining feeling (and pain setting in) after a dental procedure, poor guy. I have always enjoyed this song, every single line brings back a fond memory. Texas never loses its mystique. Every time we cross the border and see the “Welcome to Texas” sign, the whole car erupts in an old song Dave made up and shouts out to the kids since they were toddlers. “Yippee I Yippee I Yippee I YAY TEXAS here we come”! Had no idea how to spell that. Ha!
@Christine Ems I did that intro just because a certain person mentioned that another certain person misses it--ha! And please, whatever you do, when Dave is feeling better and you cross the border into Texas again, record him singing his song and send it to me. I will do a THOROUGH reaction to it. It will either be a 10 or a 0, with no in between!
Thanks for the request @Jacob Herricks Good catchy tune. When they chose to use the word 'met', my mind went to the waitress in "Somewhere In The Heart Of Texas" and thought is this going to be about a girl? The writer(s) of the song probably used 'met' to emphasize the relationship Texans have with their state. @rockn2country Don like the new intro but feel slighted as you omitted Oregon 😁 You learned about Gruene, TX from Bri Bagwell "Heroes" but you do get points for knowing she was female and you liked her 😅 Someone buy the man some Ginko 🤣🤣🤣
@Jeff Cather Back to the future, my friend, as that intro was done a couple of years ago, after which I changed it and then changed again, as I am wont to do. As for gingko, I'm off the hook since I mostly remembered what I remembered about Bri. :-)
Ray Wylie Hubbard's song "EZ Money down in Texas" mentions the importance of Gruene Hall......also Fun Fact if you've ever seen the John Travolta movie "Michael" where he is an angel....the bar scene is Gruene Hall
@saremile I saw that movie and loved it! Thanks for insight on the bar scene. And I totally have a crush on Andie MacDowell, so thanks for reminding me. :-)
Also some of the songs mentioned in this song that I don't remember you reacting to are Pat Green's "Carry On" and Robert Earl Keen's "Corpus Christi Bay"
Robert Earl Keen is a very good singer-songwriter, and "Corpus Christi Bay" is a fine one. One of my favorites by him is "Swervin' in my Lane" featuring a duet with Nanci Griffith.
God bless Texas

I love how people in Texas love Texas!
We need a lot more love and pride in this world…..
God Bless Texas!

Great song, and fantastic reaction as always!!! 🍻🇺🇸 Always a pleasure watching!
Nice song. Great reaction.
In the last verse where he says “sang Everclear at a Creager show” this is in reference to the Everclear Song you reacted to about a month ago.
And I've sang it loudand proud at every show of his I've gone to
@@jacobherricks6951 Same, though it’s been a while. He doesn’t come to Amarillo much anymore.
@@AmiriteorAmarillo yeah it's been 5 out 6 years. When the lumberyard burned down he quit coming close

I wish I remembered who sung the Texas version of Johnny Cash I've been everywhere. I'd request it

Brian Burns
He also does the song "Welcome To Texas" but I can't find that one on UA-cam
