The view over the bridge is magnificent! Walking along the waterfront must be breathtaking! And hardly any people around.

Yes it's beautiful there! And the water is usually a gorgeous shade of blue

Of course we were still with you when you were walking along the north side of the Ölfusá, before you headed into that lovely "Cave Forest" sanctuary! (How could you possibly think that we might abandon you 😉?!?!) How lucky you are to have something like that less than a half-hour walk from your home.
Thank you so much for taking us along on your walk. Again, like during your drive to Reykjavik, I felt I was there with you, though walking with you this time, rather than in the car. For most of the route, I was able to "follow" along on Google Maps, although I got turned around a bit - just where you were trying to re-find the path in the Sanctuary. 😄😊
You started by indicating that you were starting your walk before 7 o'clock - how busy (with pedestrians) would some of those places be later, like mid-morning or early afternoon?
    P.S. You have a new subscriber 😁

Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for subscribing!
The main street (Austurvegur) where I started the video gets busier around midday, and the town centre where the exhibition of pictures is in the video is busy on evenings and weekends. Everything is generally busier in the Summer

Thank you Lauren for taking us on a walking tour of Selfoss on what looked to be a lovely sunny, windy and I suspect cool early morning. It's nice to get an idea of the area and how much bigger it is than I first thought. It's nice to see all the different types of buildings and styles of houses and the flora and fauna too. Again the backdrop of mountains and the picnic benches by the water, although looked a bit too windy and may be cold to sit there that day but am sure it would be no doubt a good spot to watch the world go by. That was interesting to know that the rabbits were originally domesticated and not wild like here and I take it that somehow they have acclimatised to the environment and climate as time has gone on? What is the new road and bridge being built for? Just curious.

There is also more of the town that I haven't filmed yet, Selfoss is growing very quickly! The temperature was quite mild, I had my coat on as it had been cold the day before but I was getting a bit to warm in it. Yes the rabbits seem to have settled to the climate and this isn't the only place in Iceland where the rabbits live, there's also an area in Reykjavík with many rabbits. There's a project to try to reduce the numbers over the last few years, some of the rabbits have been caught and put up for adoption.
The new bridge is to try to ease the flow of traffic through Selfoss. Tthe current bridge and the main street running through Selfoss are part of the ring road so we can get a lot of traffic in the Summer.
      Thanks for watching! 🙂

Hello Loppy! Cool video. Are you located far from where the volcano eruptions happened?

Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
Grindavík (where the eruptions are) is just over an hour drive from Selfoss, but the eruptions don't affect us in Selfoss

Hi Lauren! Are the chairs and tables in downtown Selfoss next to Motivo chained down in some way or can the owners leave the furniture just like that outside overnight without any security measure?

I'm not sure actually, I'll have to go and check in person but I don't think so. It's very unlikely that someone would steal them here, but the wind might blow them around sometimes

It's kind of reassuring that there are still places where you don't have to nail everything down.

Hi There, can you tell what's the cheapest place to buy a property in Iceland?

    • @LoppyLoves
      @LoppyLoves  2 місяці тому +1

Hi, I'm actually not too sure but probably in the most remote area of the country. I remember a few years ago seeing much cheaper property prices in North East Iceland
