You could be in XYZ band playing wherever you want.. and maybe you are.. but you're also helping people learn to play.. that, IMO, is a bigger gift to humanity than an album or a tour. You're inspiring/teaching the next B.B. King, Clapton, SRV, or Slash. Thanks for sharing your gifts with us!

Great lesson. I do something similar, but I don’t always disengage all of the fingers from the strings.

Hi. Thanks for commenting. We all learn differently and there's not just one way to approach what we learn. In fact, we all need to find our own paths and solve in our own way the challenges we face. I think it's awesome you found your way and if that works for you that's perfect! Keep up the good work!

Hi Steve.Frustrated with ring finger. Not blessed with flexibility to bar A-shaped bar chords.I know alternate way of forming this bar chord but would enough practice eventually help me fret 3 strings with ring finger.I thank U in anticipation

Hi I’m not Steve but I’ve been playing for 7 years. Since I started playing I developed a terrible habit which caused my pinky to lack a significant amount of strength and speed compared to my other fingers. My advice to you is to pick an easy song and slowly replace your a shapes with the barred finger. Unfortunately I have big hands so I may not be struggling as much as you in that respect, but I think, especially if you’re a beginner, you can make your ring finger much more useful.
