Great stream. I live 4.3 miles from there. The water is about normal level, and it is about 3 feet deep all the way across. Walked many times. However the stream level can get above that set of stairs you guys walk down and be in the parking lot. The water when it is that high is very swift and very deep. It would easily wash you away. If you want to see how high that water can get go down to steel Bridge Road which is down stream from your area you will see dead trees up on the bank and pushed into overhanging areas in stream above steel Bridge Road the bridge that goes across the river

If you guys want a challenge come to Southwest VA. I know you've fished Cripple Creek, Crooked Creek, Big Tumbling and several others. The more Marquee and pressured waters are The Smith River in Henry County, The Can River in Patrick County, Jackson River and Bullpasture in Bath County and finally Big Stoney Creek in Giles County. HEAVY, HEAVY pressure. Try them on a Saturday in April. You guys are good at your craft and I enjoy your videos. Take it from me, the TROUTDR these streams are fun because of the pressure. I've guided for years and always had success at all mentioned. Love to see you all fish as I suggested. Hope you will and good fishing !

@@TeamPautzke I've seen those on Crooked, Cripple and Big Tumbling. Would love to see Dan and Smith. Those in particular. 2 of the top 5 in State of VA. Smith, Holston, and Jackson River get most fish of any in the state
Search for Pautzke "Jackson River" - it's been several years.
@@TeamPautzke I'll check. I still hope you come try The Smith and Dan one day. They are only an hour apart. You could fish Both in 2 days. Worth a look for you then you could go to Crooked Creek the next. It's only another hour from them. Hope you'll try it.
Thanks. Both were on the to-do list back in January when everything was blown out. We flew to DC and had to fly back 24 hours later. Then, we were suppose to come in March, but the virus hit. Hopefully, next year.

I was just recently up at the Devils Elbow put in @ Amicalola Creek (right where the yellow and purple meet on the map)... I believe it's south of where y'all were. I got nothing! Going to have to check out this spot next time I head up that way from Atlanta.

where can we get a printed copy of that map? i see lots of online maps, and they're great, but "online" and "trout stream" frequently don't happen in the same place.
Hi Will - a call to the Forest Service or Georgia DNR would be a good start. That's where we got it.
Can I ask what hooks y’all use? I normally use salmon egg hooks but 9/10 they tend to swallow them and it makes it very difficult to take out the hook without killing the fish.
We don't have a specific brand. We tend to always use size 10-14 single salmon egg hooks. With a float you see the bite right away and hook them in the mouth.
I only use flys. Maybe you can create a brand of pautzke exclusive flys for fly fishing!

Is it really true that as a GA resident, I can only catch and keep 3
trout per year? I know I can catch and keep one trout per day, but
3/year seems pretty slim to me for the amount and regularity that they
stock the streams. I posted the rules and regs below. Maybe y'all can
make more sense from them that I can. Thanks!

You can keep 8 trout per day, everyday. However no more than 16 in possession while camping or like in your cooler. The rules are in a handout, or call Georgia DNR. They explain to you. This is a great stream I live 4.3 miles from there I moved up here on purpose because I’m closer to trout streams. Fish on brother

Took my son there yesterday 6/28/2020 and there was no sign of trouts found. Nothing! Very disappointed. Even hiked to the different fishing spots along the creek... nothing!
The area looked like it hasn’t been maintained for months.
Sorry to hear that. Maybe other anglers got them already. It's stocked weekly.
