This entire scene right here. THIS is Hannibal’s ultimate fantasy. This is his Heaven. He just wants to share his lifestyle with a companion who wants to share it too.
One of the most aesthetically pleasing series of all time. Aesthetic - this is what this show was all about. Aesthetics which cross the boundaries of ethics. "I gave up good and evil for behaviorism".
Mads nailed the creepy acting at 1:19 he is staring at Will because he is eating human flesh willingly for the first time, and also Will can /feel/ him staring and you can see some sort of fear in his face before he meets Hannibal's eyes
This is just so incredibly beatiful, intelligent and radiant. It's like reading Shakespeare and Dostojevskij at the same time with a warm, fuzzy blanket and a cherry blossom tea. Not to mention the beautifully placed ambient music and Will and Hanniball's smirk at 2:20. Masterpiece.
I love this scene. Yes, Will was playing both sides and deceiving Hannibal but he literally didn’t need to do this, there was no reason to bring Hannibal human meat to eat with him besides that he wanted to, he wanted to share this moment with Hannibal. Also the puns? He brought tomatoes, which are red and ginger wink wink. I can imagine him buying groceries thinking to himself “oh he’s gonna love the pun”. These two, i will literally never get over them.
You can see the excitement in Hannibal's face when he said that the meat is not pork. He was starting to believe that he finally has a friend they way he likes it
Will was being really careful to be truthful here, so I was going to say I bet he just found a really long pig to feed Hannibal, but then I realised it was probably Randall they were eating.
Yes you are supposed to watch this show as hightend reality poetry rather than being completely literal and they care more about something feeling true in each individual moment rather than logical as a whole. But Hannibal doesn't just kill people, with the exception of a few people that he respected or didn't have to time to. He tortures people to death, the first victim we see got opened and had her lungs removed while she was breathing. I know Hannibal doesn't really care about being humane, he's trying to sound like he has empathy while giving Will a fatherly lesson on killing. But if what he says is true then most of his meals would taste frightened. It's not like he usually drugs his victims like mason to the point they don't feel anything. You get the idea Hannibal is fascinated by seeing how much damage he can cause the human body before they die.
@@animeotaku307 No that's not correct, when he kills as the Ripper most of his victim are killed in ways that allows Hannibal to see how much damage he can do in various ways before someone dies. While he also just enjoys the torture, he has killed people like Beverly fairly quick and painless but that is becasue he respected her and knew she was just doing her job. But if you have been rude or any other thing Hannibal consider a sin and you are one of the 3 victims he kills for his dinner parties. Then one of the more luckier victims is the guy who just got torn in half. Remember the victim that Dr Gideon tried to recreate by killing the nurse? When Hannibal did it, the victim was alive during every stab until Hannibal finally stabbed the man in the heart. Which is why Will knew that Gideon wasn't the Ripper.
@@animeotaku307 Please do, it's great. Despite me ripping, no pun intended, into this not being consitent the show overall is excellent and is one of those shows that gets better as you rewatch it. Just as long as you don't expect the show to make 100% logical sense, and as Fuller puts it allow for it to have a dream logic. Like the guy who killed himself and was somehow able to carve his own back to look like angel wings and then hung himself up by his wrists. How Hannibal was able to put Beverly on display frozen in less than 12 hours. Even the way Hannibal sometimes just appears out of thin air inside a house with police outside like when he frames Chilton. That kinda stuff I can forgive because I understand what the show is going for. It's just that this conversation sticks out to me because of how they have set up how Hannibal kills depending on if he is doing it as the ripper, if he is using another killers crime to cover up his own or when he just does it as himself.

I think Will is just signifying that the line between good and evil is somewhat blurred, all things considered. He’s content with the person he is and self-aware of his own choices.
behaviorism is an approach in psychology where thought is not as interesting as other factors to understand behaviors. Especially, it's the belief that one's behavior is either a reaction to a stimulus, or a product of environment. In this case, Will means I think that his behavior (supposedly killing people and Freddie) is neither good nor bad anymore, it's just either a reaction to Freddie and other people's provocation, or the result of being close to Hannibal and working on serial killers.
