You cannot make your region a no-go area for development, and you want peace proceeds from other regions. When There were crises in the Niger Delta, leaders and the citizens worked hard with the Government agencies to restore peace for development to thrive. Who told you that northern crisis have the support of the northern elites? We're not like the southeast who are supporting their own destruction in the name of agitation. Everyone in the north is tired of insecurity we are suffering of. Don't forget how south-south suffered for almost 3 decades from criminals and terrorists. 'Yaradua saved them using his wisdom. We want equal from our government to stop using the insecurity as a shop to get trillions of Nigeria for their children and grandchildren in detriment to the lives of millions in the north!

You are just supporting this bill thinking that it will affect the north only. For your own information, if this reform is accepted, only Rivers, Delta, and Lagos state will survive in the south, and the rest RIP! What we're crying of in the north is nothing but to allow every state to collect their own VAT base on consumption not the head offices located in Lagos as said by the wise man S. Dicson! But how in the name of God you collect the VATs for goods and services consumed/rendered in Sokoto and Kaduna be paid to the head offices in Lagos and ask us to remain silent. Kano alone if Dicson's formula is applied, will have more VAT than Lagos! Consumption and Population are highly related!

I lived in Lagos & BAT almost killed us with taxation.
It was only Tenement rate which was minimal until Tinubu came with Land Use tax.
I currently pay ₦225.537 for 1kwh of Band A electricity tariff with a 7.5% VAT.
It is set to go up to 10% in 2025 & 12.5% in 2026.
The economy is practically dead with run-away inflation, the type that has never been seen before.

Ignorance of the highest order! What is the relation between VAT and investors? Mr man, if you don't know, VAT has no any relation with where goods are produced but where they're consumed. A state with more consuming power generate more VAT than the state with many companies but small population. Population is one of the biggest factors that determine the amount of VAT a state can generate not the amount of companies.
Do you know that you can have 1000 companies and end up generating small VAT while a state with zero number companies generate billions of dollars? VAT has nothing to do with where the goods are produced but where they are consumed and you can't say only Lagos consume in Nigeria!

We're not against the percentage you quoted. We even want to to be 90% or above. What we are fighting for is, every state should collect their own VAT. All the VATs of goods and services consumed in any state should be collected by that state not by Lagos state from the head offices of companies and the Port authority. Almost 90% of the VATs that our states supposed to collect are being collected by Lagos state through the head offices of companies like MTN, and even Port authorities!

North isn't in any way Paid with Lagos money, but the opposite. What makes you think Lagos state produce highest VAT while other states are not is nothing but:
      1. The VAT of most of the goods consumed and services rendered in our states are for long paid to the head offices of companies that mostly are located in Lagos.
      2. The VAT of all the goods that entered into the country through port are paid at the port in Lagos instead of the states where the goods are consumed.
So, let government stop collecting the VAT of any item from the port and allow every states where such items are consumed to collect it. Likewise, payment of VAT to head offices that are mostly located in Lagos should be stopped. Let every state collect their own VAT of the goods consumed and services rendered within its vicinity! So that Lagos state authorities will collect only what belongs to Lagos, not what belongs to other states!!!

The issue of tax if other states are grateful to you in the NigerDrlta is not something to raise an eyebrow about at all. Unless they want something else to happen like breaking up the country so that everyone can go separate ways. They should continue to make silly noise about this tax reform bill.

@aaliwinni9959 that's the problem, in advanced countries they did not get to 25%
They increase it according to the confidence of the people in the system and quality of life, this way they can shoulder the impact
But imagine the jobs data in Nigeria, CPI and PPI numbers
There are no metrics to back up 25% tax, mind you 50m naira is only $30,000.
