- AC/DC performing live at Capital Centre, Landover, Maryland, USA on December 20th and 21st of 1981 during the For Those About To Rock tour.
Although full concert recording exists, these promos are the ones that are in exquisit shape. They were broadcast by RAGE in the 80's. This version features full recording of Let There Be Rock, that was cut on Backtracks.
For some reason they decided to mix both nights on the promos. The first night Brian was wearing a blue sweatband and Cliff a stripped shirt, and on the second night Brian was wearing a black and white sweatband.

No other band could ever capture the energy and sheer power as AC/DC. Their G chord is devastating.
if heard them called AC/DG lol
They don't always show it much, but it's too cool how Malcolm and Cliff always came forward for vocals and then return to their positions with a military like formation.
Malcolm a genius.
Ramones did the same thing. Brilliant.
You can see them do the same on the 2009 River Platte Argentina DVD
@@glengamble526 Seeing it live from above is like watching a chess board. They are the rooks going back and forth and Angus is the queen running all over the place.
I have always liked that move…..its so rock ⭐️
Phil Rudd is an absolute MADMAN on Let There Be Rock! holy HELL!
@Lip Allowance Which is a nice way of saying everthing he plays is the same.
Absolutely incredible.
Brian’s voice was about as good as it was going to get on this tour.
I'd absolutely agree with that. His voice didn't last too long, unfortunately
@@JokersWild70 he was already pretty vocally taxed before the scooped him up. Got him in his prime but didn’t last long. Still great studio performances thru the decades
You got that right brother!!
@@JokersWild70 he sounds already different on For Those About To Rock album, it was only a year and it was enough to change his voice
Brian's voice is so unique and nobody can sound exactly like him but yeah a brilliant hard rock style voice.
The secret weapon of this band is Phil Rudd on the drums. The pocket is so damned consistent, you just can’t help moving your head back and forth.
He was good then but never returned to his ability after thry kicked him out. Chris Slade took over his duties and ability with ease.
@@kenouif
Chris Slade was an ok replacement, but he never captured the deep pocket Phil Rudd had.
@@kenouif Simon Wright took over from Phil. slade only did 1 album. wright did 3, 4 if you include who....
@@kenouifjust watch the No Bu concert, Phil is great on that
Phill Rudd is not human. Absolutely incredible show, best performance of many of these songs that I’ve heard
Phill is the man !
Amen!
I’m 49 years old and have been a fan since I was 11. AC/DC still gives me goosebumps
We're the same age but I was 8 when I discovered them via the Dirty Deeds reissue and I thought Big Balls was the greatest thing ever. Was an embarrassment of riches in 1981 to be able to then go and snag Back In Black and For Those About Tp Rock on the same day when I got my allowance! ... Rock N Roll heaven,
I'm just one year older and feel the same, the first time live is still one of my most cherished memories.
Me too iam 47. Heard em when I was about 6 yrs old .. back in black.. immediately I went and sourced all there earlier albums to listen too. And I haven't stopped for 40 yrs.. and won't Till iam dead. There will never be another acdc.. may there music will stand the test of time.!!
Same 49 aswell
Saw them for the first time at donington in 91 it was my first ever live experience of any band I was 17 at the time
And I’ve seen them every time they’ve come to the uk since
I think one of the best live versions of “Let There Be Rock” I’ve seen. Angus was on fire and Phil was just going nuts on the drums.
It might be my favorite live performance of anything!
Nothing beats this, just epic!
ua-cam.com/video/s3nEAmt5AZ8/v-deo.html
Really hard working guys. Especially Phil in this case... 😄
Reminds me a bit of Mickey Dee.
for this song it was Bon Scott catty Angus on his shoulders through the crowd... Un believable
@@gosling1558 where do you think he learned that move from? Brian & Vic (I think it was Vic)
I am so glad I grew up during this genre of music. It doesn't get better than this.
AMEN or LIKEWISE! In my opinion, ONLY in the 80s could you find something as GENUINE, RARE, EXCITING, and "LARGER THAN LIFE," such as THIS!
🔥🤘🏽🔥🍻
🤘🤘🤘
I’m always amazed at how good AC/DC sound live, in fact they actually sound better live than they do in the studio, a testament to their immense talent as musicians.
always in awe of how Angus could leap around like that and still play without making mistakes
Incredible talent
man..Brian was spitting fire..when people mention his voice not lasting more than another several years, he was already a seasoned vet by this time..his voice had been taxed for years by this time...he is so on point here..damn
He got another 25 plus YEARS after this concert to go 😮Lol!!! What took him out of action was his hearing, not his voice!
@@jeffreyault3818 yeah..that was a shame..by razors age he had some age on the pipes but he sounded good on that tour..Noone could sing the way he did in 81 and make it past that tour...he always went all out..great guy too
At this time, AC/DC was by far the best hard rock band in the world, period.
They are the most popular because they have the number 1 selling rock album on the planet
AC/DC should release this as a live album. They've put out a couple of good live albums, but this is them at the top of their game
The endurance it takes to perform like this night after night fck incredible
I thought that too. Really amazing!
Brian songs every word of every chorus, so amazing, my voice would be tired af doing that
Let's see Vince Neil or Axl Rose do that live. Good luck. AC/DC is a phenomenal live act!
Guess that's also why he can't sing anymore now...
Brian's voice was amazing back during these first few years and the entire band never sounded better.
Gotta love Malcolm. Plays his part exceedingly well and just lets Angus have the spotlight.
The band - super tight. Angus's tone - the best in rock history.
The tempo is so fast and so good , ACDC forever
The best voice ever at this period!! Strong and power!!!🤟🤟
What an absolute ass kicking band. I saw them a couple times in the 80’s and they never give less than 300%.
Brilliant. I remember seeing AC/DC on this tour in 81. I consider myself very lucky to have seen them a few times at their very best. What a band. 👏👏👏👏👏👍
Yeah very Lucky, ive been a fan since 1985 & unfortunately Never seen them Live.
This wasn't when they were at there best maybe if you just got into them from 1980 onwards..watch the bon Scott concerts pre 1980 and that's them at there peak 😀
Saw them at the Cow Palace in SF a month after this show, 5 times since then.
@@arthurmorrison4765 hes proberly meaning with brian.
I seen the Toronto AC/DC Tour 81 a month or so before this gig , this was my first concert loud as beep, we where close to the stage the good old days of real bands and real concerts,
I miss the old Cap Centre, saw hundreds of concerts there back in the day. Won a grand prize radio contest on 98 Rock in Baltimore in '87, got to meet RUSH during their 'Hold Your Fire' tour. This place was so electric, you'd literally get goose bumps pulling into the parking lot. What a special time the 80's were, nothing will ever come close!🤘
In my opinion, the 80s WERE, and ALWAYS WILL BE, "THE PINNACLE OF CIVILIZATION!"
You are absolutely right! The awesome 80s .
I agree. Saw Journey with glass tiger in 86 . Also Styx Kilroy show
If I’m not mistaken, I think they filmed Heavy Metal Parking Lot (the movie where they go around interviewing fans pregaming in the parking lot before a Judas Priest and Dokken show in 1986) at the Capital Center.
@@bucknasty69 I think you may be talking about the song Heavy metal poisoning from the Kilroy album
That was something I had always wanted to see! This was ACDC at their prime. Still young and hungry and proving who they were. I love that this was captured and that you put it up on you tube. Thank you so very much!
Real music..at a real classic American indoor arena..real fans ..back when music and gigs were awesome..I live all the way in New Zealand..this is the place that heavy metal parking lot was filmed in 86 on judas priest fule for life tour with dokken in support..greatest times 😊😊😊
The cannon fire always does it for me. Its icing on the already delicious cake.
Brian fuckin’ Johnson!
What a machine! ⚡️
The 70s and 80s, an incredible time of hard rock and heavy metal. Whether AC/DC, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Motörhead, Accept or Krokus - they were never better. Today you can go higher and further, more show and technique, but the originality, the spontaneity, the energy, the rebelliousness and the recognition value, that's history.
That Natural Walnut SG Angus is playing is a thing of beauty ! Thanks for the upload.
Yep,,,he played this guitar when we saw them,,Denver ,CO..McNicholes arena.....EPIC,,,,he played a black one,,,,but played the red one most of the nite!!!I had binoculars,so I saw all of them good!!.pat.,,,land o' lakes.wi.
Especially when Angus is wearing it :D
AC/DC should release this entire show on DVD, it would be epic!
*"Argentina is the sixth member of the band, we never saw an audience like them"*
-Brian Johnson . 21/12/2009
¡TE AMAMOS AC/DC..! 🇦🇷🤘
Incredible show I was there! I had just graduated from high school. I still have 2 shirts and the ticket stub!
Teenage me is losing his mind at the sound quality of these upscaled old concerts. What a time to be alive.
It’s crazy how close the snare in the beginning of Put the Finger On You sounds like the album
On the top of their game, Brian performance is simply brillant
00:00 - Put The Finger On You
03:35 - Back In Black
07:09 - Highway To Hell
10:42 - Let's Get It Up (December 20th)
14:33 - Let There Be Rock
25:16 - For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)

YOUNG PHIL DRUMMING UP A FUKN STORM 🥁🎸🔊 🤘🤘
My favorite tour of AC/ DC . Great stuff !!!
I was always a little ambivalent when it came to live performances with Brian, but now I hear that he was seriously dynamite during this era. Seems like the touring just took a toll on his voice rather fast. Still have huge respect for the guy.
It's just the way he sings - it was bound to have a negative effect on his vocals eventually - saw them about 10 years after this show - with Chris Slade on drums - "Thunderstruck" was new at that time - and his vocals sounded pretty rough - but he gave it his all and the band was still great ..
Yeah this band is 110% for the entire show, vocals included, bound to take a toll.. the most physically active band of all time
You ever try singing like Brian Johnson? I can't do it for more than 30 seconds without coughing myself to death. And 40 years of that, incredibly difficult. I've always said between the all the guys Brian works the hardest lol
@@zackgibson3389 Oh yeah, it's really difficult and quite unsustainable because you're squeezing out your head voice constantly.
@@fullmetalguy8357yeah, its best described as screaming at the top of your lungs in your head voice and it literally hurts to do... and he still does it to this day, amazing.
Amazing! This should definitely be released on dvd. Killer!!
ACDC Portugal is a great fan 🤘
Man that guitar tone is so awesome
Doesn't get any better than this.
The focus is always on Angus, but the rhythm section is epic here. AC/DC guitars are simple, but not easy. Let there be Rock - 2-3 chords in the riff, but played hard fast and completely in time.
I think I have watched Lets get it up about 20 times this week, rock and roll ecstasy.
C'est un miracle que l'on puisse redécouvrir tant de décennies après, de telles performances. C'est hallucinant comme ils furent au top, et le restèrent.
J'ai eu la chance de les voir 8 fois en concert, et c'est gravé à vie.
For Those About To Rock is my 2nd favorite AC/DC album after Highway To Hell. Let's Get It Up sounds great.
The same for me….. those two albums kick butt!
such a shame that they had such SHIT production
That year, they came to Japan, and they played in a small hall, and when I saw them in the front row, my ears and neck hurt.
Real lighters and no gnikcuF cell phones. I was at one of those shows. The fun (the 80s) were just getting started. God bless us, the 80s nation. God's favorite decade 🍻🤘
Love the walnut grain SG
This is absolutely brilliant! It sure beats my own VHS copy of this 'Rage' episode that I transferred to DVD a few years back! Well done ACDC PORTUGAL!!
Same here. Rage was all the rage when they played real music - and we had nothing else.
There was nothing like a big arena show during the 80's!
Put the finger....kin absolutely on fukin fire!!!!...wish I'd been there.. phenomenal..🎸🎸🇬🇧🤘🤘🤘
Phil on let their be rock sheesh the indurance....
This was the tour that they were at their best!!! Thank God for this video!
No M8 I gotta disagree there 1978 powerage tour and the 1979/1980 highway to hell are the two best ever tours that I've seen them play outta 113 times I've seen them live
You can’t beat Bon live…period. Respect to Brian and the great records they made with him but live….Ronald Belford Scott

Nah.
Great Show, ACDC in best Condition !
Fantastic!
Wow 1981 i was 15 my mates & i loved ac/dc here in Sydney Australia.I remember we got thrown out of our school dance head banging to let there be rock.Greatest band ever
The Human Metronome!!! He is Phil Rudd! Powerhouse and LEGEND!!! This can never ever be loud enough!!!
Well this is pure gold!!!!
Angus is incredible ... in every concert the evil spirit of ROCK'N'ROLL possessed him ! And also Brian is a truly force of nature !
There's 3 other guys in the band who actually make the sound :D
But the cameraman didn't give them no love.
Goddamn they were alive! Brian was a flawless fit for AC/DC and they sounded so tight here! Plus I love Let’s Get It Up and Finger live!
Crazy. Madness🤘. The best. Love acdc.
Wow loving the mini build up to the show
I saw this same tour a few weeks before this in Indy. I was 13 and faked an injury and went in on crutches. They let me and my buddy in 10 minutes before everyone else. We laughed our asses off as we made our way to the front row. I also took a camera in and the security guards were totally cool. Let me take 2 rolls of photos. I have some absolutely amazing photos of that show, including the exact moment the cannon went off during For Those About to Rock. Awesome memories!
Did you post the photos somewhere? Would be nice to have a look.
@@onnyt60 I have not. I have some on my Facebook profile. That is not viewable by the public. Will have to post some to my Instagram account.
@@jscorp681 If you do let me know. I'd like to watch it.

This is Epic. Rock n roll brothers and sisters
Sh***t.... I'm speechless...
THAT was energetic!!!
The boys gave everything here.
Kick-ass band !!!
Remember watching this on Late Night In Concert on the BBC, literally the week before seeing them for the very first time in Edinburgh in 1982. Was absolutely beside myself with excitement. What an Unforgettable evening that was.
AC/DC first heard them at the local town hall at Hurstville Sydney with about 1000 people and they kept on playing the local pub scene with the great Bon Scott up front.
Those were the days as the pub with the bar in the middle was across the road and $20 bucks would last us all night including the taxi home.
I think that’s why I have a hearing impairment now.
👍☮️💟🇦🇺
Aussie pub rock was amazing. Lucky to be around in those days.
Wasn’t Rose Tattoo one of those bands that played the pub rock circuit as well? They weren’t too big here in the US but I’ve always been a fan of theirs. I’ve read several articles about the pub rock days in Australia and it seemed like a wild and rowdy scene. Bet it was a fun time to experience.
ACDC Portugal, doing the Rock 'n' Roll god's work.
No one did it better. Saw them live 3 times. Every show was a face-melter. Pure rock, no gimmicks. There's better "metal" bands and better "hardcore" and better "indie rock" and yada yada... but no one has been better at pure, hard-driving, iconic song after iconic song ROCK than Angus and the boys.
Holy cow this is incredible they were rocking so hard
Unbelieveble!!! What a great times!!!
So fortunate that I got to see them live in 86 in Manchester and 88 in Birmingham 🎸⚡️⚡️⚡️🔥
Amazing! Thank you!
Great job thanks!
What a power. Fantastic!!
Best Rock Band in History!
Pure gold, thank you!
Thanks for uploading I haven’t seen this concert
The 80s........The Best of Times. Long gone...........
I pray to god they do one last tour. They were my first concert ever. And still the greatest.
miss the Capital Centre and the good old days of rock concerts
Put The Finger On You is such a great song. Pity they dropped it from their set going forward! I guess that happens when your band literally has so many great songs!
I can't believe how awesome Brian's vocals are here!
Excellent footage
The image quality is UNBELIEVABLY GOOD
great sound and video of this.
Great tour! Incredible footage.., AC⚡️DC RULES 1981 rules!
Wow! This looks incredible!
I miss this
Amazing!!!
At 29:00 when Malcolm comes to sing while headbanging the beat is so sick!! Cliff's bass line is precisely beautiful.
Angus gives it his all! His stamina is crazy. Amazing!
Thank you for posting this! Made my New Year's Day!
rock n roll perfection.
