      Good point! But here, you're dividing pressure (mmHg) by "inspired oxygen concentration", i.e. a number from 0 to 1.
      "FiO2 (the fraction of inspired oxygen) is defined as the percentage or concentration of oxygen that a person inhales. "
      So if you breathe normal air, FiO2 = 0.21. If you're being put on 100% oxygen, FiO2=1.00.
      Anyway, dividing mmHg by a scalar will give you mmHg.

      It's telling you how well you're faring (numerator) against how much oxygen you need (denominator). If your O2 pressure is OK and you only need 0.21 oxygen, that's fine. If O2 pressure is OK but you need 0.50 oxygen, the ratio will be smaller - you're not doing so great. If your O2 pressure is below expectations, you're not doing OK. I think you get the idea by now.
