    I tried this over here in the UK last year. Overheating was a big problem though.

    • @AdventureTimMedia
      @AdventureTimMedia  5 місяців тому +1

      Hey @paulwalsham1300, thanks for your comment. Overheating is a common issue with gopros as you have a processor that is working very hard - and creating heat - but not having a lot of space to dissipate that heat. If you try changing some of the settings - decrease the frame rate and resolution- you will lesson the chance of overheating, however you may compromise the quakity of yr footage. Keeping the GP well ventilated is the key - the A/C normally works pretty well, and I would recommend never leaving it in the car if you are going to the shops or if you park the car. Even in winter it can get warm in a vehicle . There's also the risk of theft in that situation too. I made a video on tips to keep your gopro cool. I'll pop the link below in case you are interested. Hi. Which button do we press if we want to save the last 5min of the video? Or does it save all the videos at 5min interval and we go back and delete the ones not required? Thanks

    • @AdventureTimMedia
      @AdventureTimMedia  4 місяці тому

      Hey mate, thanks for your question. The Gopro will record files in the interval you have selected up to the maximum file size it will allow. Either 4GB or 12 GB depending on your version of GP. If you want to see the last video , you can find it by going to the playback option as you would to see any other file. To save space on your memory card you can delete the other files that you don't need. I hope this helps.

    The antiflicker is for streetlights because the UK/Aussies use 50hz whereas the US uses 60. Nothing to do with NTSC vs PAL

    • @AdventureTimMedia
      @AdventureTimMedia  Місяць тому

      Thanks for your comment @IamMugs ! You are correct, we use 50Hz in Aus, most of Europe including the UK, Africa and most of Asia and 60Hz in the US/ Canada/ Mexico / Japan. I was just trying to point out that normally you would match your camera settings to the region of the world that you are filming in to reduce the chance of flicker when playing back on TV. This normally would be most noticeable if you filming in an area with Fluorescent lighting, say if you went through a tunnel. Cheers

      Hi @thetobymeister8881 ! thanks for your comment. U could link your GP to the quik app and go thru and delete footage that way. Otherwise you can put the sd card in your pc and do it that way. The clips don't auto delete so you would have to do any deletions manually. hope this helps .

      @AdventureTimMedia  Місяць тому

      Hey @arunassolomskas1099 ! Thanks for your comment, You can by downloading GoPro Labs and putting that on your camera and then scanning the QR that allows you to perform that action. The other option is to turn Voice Commands on, on the GoPro and then say GoPro Start Recording as you take off to turn on your action camera. Hope this helps.

    This is uploaded in 1080p though? Are plates easier to read when you watch the 4k quality files?

    • @AdventureTimMedia
      @AdventureTimMedia  3 місяці тому

      Hi @danaf8902 ! Thanks for your comment. As part of my video was filmed at Full HD using my phone - the part where I go into the settings on the cameras - the whole video is deemed as 1080p by UA-cam, even the parts filmed in 4K. The plates do appear clearer in 4K using the higher resolution and at 30fps or 60fps it comes up really well. Hope this helps.

    Overheating?
    The no. 1 problem with using any GoPro in an indoors setting (aka in-car). What do you use for ventilation, or do you only use it for 10-15 minute stretches? Anything longer indoors without ventilation WILL overheat badly.

    • @AdventureTimMedia
      @AdventureTimMedia  5 місяців тому

      Hey @petesig93 ! Thanks for your comment, I normally have the A/C running if I am using it in the car to keep the unit cool. I never leave it in the car if I park and head off somewhere - it's easy enough to take off the windshield mount and sometimes I use a lower resolution. - 4K or 1080 - to keep heat to a minimum. As a rule GoPros do better just filming for shorter stretches like you listed and they aren't primarily made to be dash cams, but they can def do a good job if they need to. Thanks for taking the time to drop me a line, All the best,

    Can you explain the difference between a GoPro and a dashcam specifically made for cars? Why does one overheat but the other one doesn't?

    • @penkatadrums
      @penkatadrums 2 місяці тому

      Because the GoPro is a million times more powerful that's why it overheats. The image quality is insane. Regular dashcams look like crap compared to a GoPro, that's why they don't overheat because they are barely more powerful than a potato.

    • @AdventureTimMedia
      @AdventureTimMedia  2 місяці тому

      GoPro's are primarily designed as action cameras and acting as a dash cam is just one way they can be used, but this video just tries to highlight their versatility! Dashcams are designed to act as dash cams. They normally don't have the same features or pro settings 'under the hood' as a GoPro or action camera - like different lens or shutter speeds or White balance - but then they don't need them to perform their role. They often have better battery life, have looping and collision, sleep mode capabilities and as they are designed to record for long periods they rarely over heat. GP are more often just used for a shorter time periods where you can film at higher frame rates and resolutions ( both things that make a camera hot ) and they are more suited to outdoor use ( where they get better air circulation and are made to be taken anywhere. Both cameras have their place, but although you can use a GP as a dash cam, you can't really take a dash cam hiking or skiing or surfing. I have both types of cameras, and I enjoy them both and I hope this has helped answer your question. Thanks for watching.

    • @AdventureTimMedia

      Hey @simp4em28 ! Thanks for your comment. It will save a video file onto your memory card. When you want to access it, insert the sd card into your computer, search for the time you are after, and play the clip.
      if you want to get a photo, scrub through ( play thru ) the footage until you find the shot you are after and grab a screen shot. GP has photos up to 27 MP so you will have a high quality photo. hope this helps.

    Hello, the GoPros 11 and 13 have built in GPS system, which allows you to overlay a speedometer in the footage. Would be very useful to have it on a dashcam footage. I am not sure you show this feature off.

      You are correct, a high quality camera is definitely required to see the other licence plates and that's where the Gopro shooting at 4K and 30 ( or 60 ) fps would be a pretty good choice! Thanks for watching and all the best.

    The GoPro 11 works just fine at 4K, 4x magnification, narrow and you might be able to get most of the license plates at least biking. I would never use 1080 that's a joke especially 30 frames a second there's no object if you don't have a license plates So wonder why they call this a video for a dash cam and it's junk as they used to have clip-ons to turn on and off the camera so you could actually use a microwave sensor and if the relay was compatible to USB you could turn on the camera if somebody came around the vehicle.

    • @AdventureTimMedia
      @AdventureTimMedia  4 місяці тому

      Hey @stateroute74ranchomirage80 ! Thanks for your comments. I agree 1080 at 30fps, wouldn't be much good - 60fps would probably work better at that resolution. The lower frame rate is just suggested to limit overheating of the camera. Acting as a dashcam is just one of the roles a GP can play although its not its main purpose. It does prove its versatility though and I do think at 4K it works pretty well. I'm unaware of the clip -ons you were referring to in your comment. Do you mean , the GP would start recording if someone came close to a vehicle. ?

    The GoPro will overheat quickly in direct sunlight. They're not good for dash cams.

    • @AdventureTimMedia
      @AdventureTimMedia  5 місяців тому

      Hey @Cameraflyer- ! Thanks for your message. GoPro's do a pretty decent job as a dash cam although they are definitely an action camera first with dash cam just being one of the jobs they can also perform. Direct sunlight is not great for any camera so I would recommend a lot of ventilation in your vehicle to lessen the chance of it overheating and shutting down, Always take the camera with you too when you leave the vehicle too. Thanks @augenbutter for your comment. At 4K/25 or 30fps the GP does a decent job of picking up details, however YT does compress the footage making it look not as good unfortunately.
