Their relationship was extremely complicated and very difficult i suppose for anyone who wasnt them to understand it, it started very very wrongly because he thought her family were involved with his fathers death so he took her as revenge and made her stay with him against her will, he forced her to do things initially against her will, but over time she developed feelings for him, and long before this he had certainly fallen deeply in love with her, when he find out that infact it was his “ wife” ( she was never his wife in the true sense of the word he was forced into the marriage to save his fathers company and he never had any relationship with this woman in any way, he never slept with her, shared a room , nor did he infact like her , lets face it she was vile) was the one who was involved with his fathers death and it had nothing to do with this beautiful young lady it made him feel even more guilty, instead of voicing his guilt, saying “ im sorry, please forgive me, i love you, i want us to be together”, he never said anything, he just set her free, she was at this time pregnant and i believe his wife caused her to lose their baby ( or was this the first time she was pregnant?), in any case this ending was sad, what he shouldve said was on the phone that was placed in her suitcase, and then he handed himself into the police i believe so he could be punished for kidnapping and imprisoning her but with her gone whos going to believe that.
He went to the police because he had interfered with business dealings to bring down his rivals in business. It's against the law. They would have gone after her because she was his weakest link so he took himself and her out of the equation. Then his enemies couldn't use her for revenge again FL. He did this to protect her.
