In all honesty, I had such low hopes for this musical. I'd figured it'll be the movie, but with singing. Oooooooh boy was I wrong. I immediately downloaded the entire playlist after I listened to it. My favorite song is either "Girl Scout" or "What I Know Now".

I saw Beetlejuice when it was in DC, and it was really awesome. A lot was different. PROLOGUE(INVISIBLE): At the end of the church singing, Beetlejuice popped out and started singing "The Whole Being Dead Thing." He pointed to Lydia, and then she sang invisible, and he continued once he was done. READY SET NOT YET: Adam's part was the same, but Kerry instead had carrots and sang about how she had a miscarriage... It was a lot darker and super depressing. Pt 2 of TWBDT was the same. DEAD MOM: It was longer, structured differently, and better. Look up the video of Sophia singing it at Broadway Con. FRIGHT OF THEIR LIVES: I think it was the same. A kinda forgetful song though. RSNY reprise was the same. NO REASON: Different. Lydia won their argument and storms off, leaving a disappointed Delia. Besides that, not too different. INVISIBLE/ON THE ROOF: The same. SAY MY NAME: The same and awesome. DAY-O: The same and awesome. GIRL SCOUT: The same and probably my favorite part. I love Dana Steingold. THAT BEAUTIFUL SOUND: Same thing. I liked it because it actually sounded kinda like, you know, BROADWAY. BARBARA 2.0: Didn't exist. There was a song called "The Kids We Never Had" that Barbara sings about how they regret never having children, but Lydia was kinda like their kid, so she could become their child in a way now. Slow ballad, really sweet. I like Barbara 2.0 better because it's more uplifting and shows off Kerry's voice more. Barbara 2.0 didn't exist until a few days until BW previews, actually. WHAT I KNOW NOW: Didn't exist. Instead, they had a song sung by the non-existent boy band Boy Inferno, who died in a fiery plane crash ironically enough, called "Everything is Meh." I LOVED Boy Inferno, but many people didn't, and I think that What I Know Now is better for the plot (plus Miss Argentina needed a song badly). HOME: The same and byfar my favorite song of the show. I sing this all the time. Always makes me cry. CREEPY OLD GUY: The same and awesome. JUMP IN THE LINE: The same and awesome.
This is like, exactly what went through my mind when I first listened to the soundtrack, and now it’s my favorite and I can’t stop listening😂😂😂 thank you I can’t stop laughing 😂
And that he didn’t know the receptionist, that she marries Beetlejuice, that the Maitlands possess everyone, that the people like the money they’ll get, etc 😂

6:09 I think the “home” motif is why there’s a sense of unhappiness. Lydia sings about how her mom is familiar and like “home” to her in “Dead Mom” so we associate sadder feelings with the word “home” now. When they sing “daylight come and me wanna go home” or whatever in “Day-O” we’re getting reminded of “Dead Mom” and all that sadness I don’t know if this makes sense or if anyone will even read this but whatever.

I LOVED Boy Inferno, but many people didn't, and I think that What I Know Now is better for the plot (plus Miss Argentina needed a song badly).

6:09 I think the “home” motif is why there’s a sense of unhappiness. Lydia sings about how her mom is familiar and like “home” to her in “Dead Mom” so we associate sadder feelings with the word “home” now. When they sing “daylight come and me wanna go home” or whatever in “Day-O” we’re getting reminded of “Dead Mom” and all that sadness
