- Although the modern violin is not native to the Indian subcontinent, it has become an important part of Indian classical music. Watch Kala Ramnath in a performance that shows how the violin can emulate Indian classical vocal music.
May God bless kalaji to go long for offering the music lovers such enchanting music.
I was completely blown away by Kala's mastery of the violin. This is the first time I am hearing her play. I had heard about her a few years ago but only to day was the day I saw for myself what a great artiste this woman is. I have known her illustrious uncle Shri. T.N. Krishnan and her aunt Dr. N. Rajam since my childhood. Her father T.N. Mani used to play tamil film music with the legendary M. S. Viswanathan. Kala is a mixture of all these greats and much more. I am eagerly waiting to hear more from this magnificent player. Heard she has perfected her art under Pandit Jasraj.
The violin is the most expressive instrument on the planet. In capable hands here. Thank you Kala.
I've never heard/seen the violin used in this manner
Incredible. Absolutely amazing. I keep learning more about how such an instrument is used by the world.
SHE IS PLAYING EXCELLENT.WE INDIANS SHOULD BE PROUD OF HER EXCELLENT TALENT
We humans should be proud of her excellent talent.

Tabla accompaniment is also beautiful. Simply superb..... excellent.... marvelous.... awesome..... mind-blowing..... exuberant.
SUPERB!! SHE IS AS BEAUTIFUL AS HER PLAYING SKILLS. VERY TALENTED INDEED.

Expert fingering.......an amazing concert
Very beautiful indeed. We have seen Kala Ramnath in mellifluous accompaniment with Pandit Jasraj in Toronto, numerous times. Also her solo performances in Toronto are remembered very affectionately by the connoisseurs in Toronto.

Oh and the tabla player. So great!
Listen to her Aunt Dr. N.Rajam as well, she is a legendary Violinist in Indian classical music.
Indian Classical music specially Hindustani Classical music in violin reminds me first the name of Pandit VG Jog. Kala Ramnath is suprb. She plays as if somebody is singing.

Amazing Mesmerizing
Awesome
yes .. it is singing ... soulful Bihag..
+Janardan Murhekar Thank you...was wondering what Raga it was...
excellent rendering of raga, as good as of Mrs Rajam
Excellent control over the bow!
Excellent. Enjoyed.
This is indeed the violin unlike the fiddles on Carnatic stages. This vidushi is indeed one of the best. Unfortunately the tabla pandit is not acknowledged. What a pity. Looks like a Bengali. He is equally brilliant. Namaskarams to both.
Narayanakurup Kanthikumar/Manteca/ Ca
Her violin is singing like a master singer. No language to express her mastery over the instrument.
I don't know what you mean by fiddles in Carnatic. The violin is the exact same instrument everywhere in the world. It's only a question of the price range and the level of sound and craftsmanship between a student violin and a Stradivarius.
If you don’t have any thing good to say just don’t say anything! Golden words to live by I would say.
go to hell, and stay there!@@aprilblossoms4
wonderful ~~
Thanks a lot for sharing and uploading ..
Wow! Amazing performance by Kala Ramnath!! She is such a gifted violin player! Always smiling! Zakir Hussain was amazing as usual! Zakir's clean crisp notes are evident! Zakir is just so awesome!!
Puma Drive pretty sure that is not ustad Zakir Hussain.
That is Shri Prithviraj Bhattacharjee, my guru, and a disciple of Ustad Zakir Hussain
One of the best. Great experience to watch and hear.

Awesome! I just become her fan..
I know I should be paying attention to the music but gosh I can't help loving her gorgeous sari.
Really her instrument sings like human voice, if not better.
How many more Diamonds are there in this league of Sri.T.N.Krishnan & N.Rajam.The music is as pleasing as the lady is.
viswanatha sarma we should never forget Pt. V. G. Jog
@@shadowsgreens644 he was talking about one single family from which TNK, Kala ji and Dr. Rajam belongs too.
Moreover Pt. V.G. Jog used to play instrumental style, they play Vocal style(Gayaki Ang).
Mesmerizing
amezing performence. How she is playing it so effertles.I felt some jelesy to her.....But , I am sure this purticular rag -BIHAG.
Why you feel jealousy...why you don't feel joy
By listning and seeing your videos, by seeing your face i think this types of swars are not coming from your hand , but it is your secret that you are expressing your soft feelings you are not expressing on your face. But thing is very difficult . But i like your violine very much . There is confidence showing on your face and ragas
Super duper like!
இருவரும் நன்றாக இசைதார்கள்..... கேட்பதற்கு இனிமையாக உள்ளது
Kala Ramnath is an incredible master. I had the chance to learn from her last summer, and she was mind-blowing as a player and teacher. The first sentence of this video description should be fixed however -- According to what she told me (and I've read in other sources from India), some of the violin's oldest relatives come from India, going back as much as 3000 years-- millennia before the technology of bowed-strings was introduced to Europe.
Hi, can you please suggest how can I contact her. I want to learn violin with kalaji
Vaah , nice rendering 👍. , Who says violin is not native ? truth is that it is very much native. The other important point is that even Arab and Germany were part of India.
Yes, it is raag Bihag.
Tabla is also mesmerizing....hu th Artist...?
Please add the name of the tabla artist.....he too is awesome.......
yes
क्या बात है
Who is the tabla player? he is awesome.
🙏🙏🙏👍👍
Ek tal vilambit first, the tintal
excellent performance by smt Kala RAmanath. However, . that the violin can emulate indian carnati and Hidusthani style music has been known for many years; some of the artists play both carnatic and hidusthani listen to M.S.GOpalakrishnan, PArur Sundaram Iyer, Rajam, L. SUbramaniam
For pure carnatic listen to LAlgudi Jyaraman, T. N. Krishnan, and so many in u tube
Bihag ❤️
Violin is handled like a child , it then SINGS!
0:07 1:30 to/including 1:44 2:52
This is the music nypmhs frolic to
sarpado
I find her violin play very similar to N Rajam. Any connection?
She is Dr. Rajam's niece, intially trained under her aunt 😀
@@dvchauhan35 Aaahhhh.... So there is a connection.😀
@@dvchauhan35 Thanks. Almost a signature play.
She made a little adjustment in one of the strings of her violin that's why it sounds little different from Dr. Rajam.
Also, She used to like Pt. Jasraj's recordings very much, and was introduced to him(by Dr. Rajam) and he accepted her as his desciple. She then took training under Pt. Jasraj of Mewati Gharana.
@@dvchauhan35 Thanks for the info. Then she must be TN Krishnan's niece too. Elder brother's daughter?
I heard she is no more associated pt jasraj!?
Raag Bihag?
L. Subramaniam
what about him?
