Multiple monuments can take some time but I built a pretty city in the meantime! Also, buy Pharaoh or any game on GOG using this referral link to support: af.gog.com/?as=1715648857 Thanks!
The monument speed up in the OG game was a gods blessing. I never used it, but I know my brother did. Instead of getting a blessing like “increased happiness” from Bast, she would build part of your pyramid or something. Love watching you play keep it up! I can’t wait to play this myself!
Seems fitting to use the cat statues to trap crocs. IIRC Bast has a protector role among her other duties. Although it would be even funnier to do the hippo statues. The pregnant hippo goddess (whose name escapes me) would be very proud of that role. Have to admit though, I sometimes wish that bricklayers, carpenters, and stonemasons had a more active role in the development of the city, rather than being specialized monument builders. Just seems fitting that you would want some masons walking around your city helping houses upgrade to higher levels.
I seem to remember the monuments taking ages to build was always a "problem". I also remember there being a bug with the great pyramid where the stonecutter would just die all the time on one spot while smoothing it and I had to install Cleopatra especially for the diety blessing to get past that point.
IIRC the long build times on monuments in this game was the biggest reason I never played all the way through as a kid. Along with being bad at quickly setting up and then managing city economy, I just didn't have the patience for multiple hours per mission on some maps. I also, iirc, specifically chose military maps every time it came up, just because I felt like there was more to do mid-game and it didn't take so long to finish.
@@michaelwoolley7034 my old PC still has the old operating system, I just packed it away when I got my new one, if I decide to fire it up again I’ll not connect it to the internet, I still have a number of old games on disk, just couldn’t bring myself to throw them away
You can make 4-tile plazas like those between two mastabas at 1:29:09? Are they functional? Making some wide boulevards would be nice for rich people neighborhoods
I personally found myself to be stuck in this level since I wish not to cheat over the levels. I mainly got stuck in the game, because attackers would attack from the top right side, which is really hard to defend with bowmen and boats since they refuse to attack them. I wonder if A New Era update made any changes to the levels.
i actually had the same issue w regards to armies just attacking from the worst spot possible, in A New Era there's now a sort of mini-screen battle phase popup that encapsulates all your army's forces and the enemy's, and the graphics often bug out, but its a lot better than having to guess where the bad guys are coming from.
Nobody knows how to read the name of this city, because hieroglyphics sporadically use vowels. Anyway, the pronounciation of the vowels would have changed between 2700 BCE, when the mission is set and the arrival of the Greeks in the mid 4th century BCE. The Greek alphabet uses vowels and comparing different texts since helps to reconstruct ancient Egyptian pronounciation. But, mostly, Egyptians simply knew the vowels and didn't need to write them. They would have looked at characters, and based on the consonants, they would have guessed the words and filled up vowels in their minds. It is like you see NY and read New York. An additional problem is that the Greek were usually giving their own names to cities and people, often in disregard of local traditions. So, we got: 1. Abydos from the Greek. 2. Ebot from the Egyptian during Roman times. 3. ꜣbḏw (Abdu/Abdju/Abju)from the hieroglyphics. Egyptologists simply add some vowels in between to make names more readible. There has been a tendency of adding "e". The Egypt itself was called kmt, Egyptologists made it to Kemet. Later, they discovered that Kamut would have probably been more accurate, but Kemet became so popular that it stuck.
Can anyone give me advice? I'm talking about Pharaoh Gold, the old one not New Era Pharaoh. Is it a glitch but i made the monument stepped pyramid, the game, the mission seeks for 19 of monuments, i have 19 of monuments, the pyramid is 100% done, but the pillar isn't covered yet, i think it want's burial prosecions , that should go automatically but i think it haven't for some reason, what should i do?
@@JamesD2957 It can build if you have enough temples and shrines to that god. Usually that alone would lead to minor blessings which, last I checked, can happen after 3 ankhs. To get to 5 ankhs and major blessings, it usually takes festivals.
@@JamesD2957 It's kind of based on the original game, but I don't think the remake has all the stats laid out anywhere, so kind of just estimating on how it used to be. The new game is also rebalancing the game still, so it could change in the future.
Microsoft has an algorithm that can replicate a voice with only 3 seconds of sample audio. So maybe someone can use this at some point to fix the mispronunciation 😂
It would be possible for a fan to fix it but company-side it would be legally complicated. The original voice actor could sue for using their vocal likeness without permission.

This is a single player strategy game?

Just got this today, I was so addicted to the original back in the day. I gotta say it's such a good remake
When the NPC said "it's Bricking Time" 😂
it's good to see you play "this game" again!!
Cosiness and pure passion as usual. Pharaoh is a delicious magical piece of cake that never ends. Peace, Love and Happiness to you Sir :)

I always watch your videos during lunch. It would be nice to have a new series from the beginning here on UA-cam.
Trapping the crocs is like having a zoo before you can actually get a zoo. ( I’m aware it doesn't work that way. )
From what I remember the pyramid speedup in og pharaoh was the gods blessing, it replaced like Osiris doubling the floods and stuff

You should build fat crocodile statues near the crocodiles.

Do you think having only one food type is necessary or would trading later on when you get enough money help with the evolution of the houses?
The missing plazas were from tge little wooden access platforms ^^
Ah yes that makes sense. Forgot those were blocked during construction.

Gardens in the desert look weird without a water source nearby.

Burial provisions don't go automatically, you have to send them manually from the monument advisor window.
