    This is the FIRST time in almost 30 years of knitting that I FINALLY understand how to fix a dropped garter stitch!! Thank you.

    Thank you so much. It looks like I figured this out correctly, but your slow motion was the best video I’ve seen. I’ve only been knitting a few years and your “how to” shorts are saved on my phone! I’d never have gotten past the washcloth stage without your help! Thank you, again.

    I love your Slo-Mo series!!! The Twisted German cast on one was what helped me finally get that cast on.

    That's what I do. I was hoping there was some expert knitter trick where you don't have to turn the work haha! But I am glad to know we are all in the same boat!

    Thanks, that’s what I do on small things also. But on something larger, like a nearly done big sweater, I don’t turn it; I just poke the hook into the loop from the other side and pull the ladder back.

    Thank you for this, I just had to tink back 6 rows of lace on a cardigan because I forgot to do garter stitch for the button band and did stockinette. I watched a number of videos and practiced on a swatch but still couldn't get in....no one was turning their work over....this is so much easier! Hopefully I won't need this, but fabulous to know it's here if I do!

    Thank you for my weekly session of 'knitting Zen.' Bless you for a simpler technique -- and for showing how to mount the stitch back on the needle without twisting it. As always, your videos offer more than one useful tip.

    Great video! Every time I dropped a stitch in garter and tried to correct it, my knitting just looked wrong. Now after watching your tutorial, I’m picking up dropped garter stitches like a pro. Thank you so much! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your channel!

    I really appreciated this video and the recommendation to turn the work, but I don't understand how you figure out whether the very first correction is a knit stitch or a purl stitch. She was able to tell by looking, so she knew which side of the fabric to start on, but I couldn't figure out how she knew.

    Hey there…when you re- seated the corrected garter stitch, it looked to me like it was next to the stitch with the yarn. So I’m guessing u would have turned ur work around & would have needed to take the corrected stitch & put it on the rh needle. ( IF u were going to continue on this piece of knitting ,if it wasn’t just a sample piece of knitting to show this tip ( correcting a garter stitch). ( hope this was clear, lol ) ty, again 😊

    Beautiful. Just what I needed! Now I need a crochet hook...

  • @gayeb662
    @gayeb662 3 роки тому +1

    These types of repairs are so much easier and faster if you use a double-ended crochet hook. There is a tool called Fix-A-Stitch specifically designed for this...it's just a short double-ended crochet hook...but really any double-ended crochet hook will do. This video (ua-cam.com/video/yU5CILvgEuU/v-deo.html) shows the technique. No need to turn the work or remove the hook from the fabric. Watch the video to learn the technique. The technique works on any pattern of stitches.

    Hiya😊Ty, so much for your work! I have a request for a Knitting Help episode. Years back there a scarf patter came out called My So Called Scarf. Would you take a look at it if u r not familiar with it and do a slow mo of fixing a dropped stitch from that pattern? I remember doing it & running into trouble & put it down.. plz let me know if u will do this. TY, in advance. All the best🌞🌻🐝🦋

    I think I've worked it out. You're telling if its a knit or purl by what row the bar is in or the stitch next to it. I thought you were actually reading the bar itself 😅

      In garter stitch how are you differentiating between knit and purl. I just can't get it Im sorry. I watched your video on reading your knitting but it was no help to me. Its easy to differentiate between knit and purl in stocking stitch but not so in garter stitch. Not for me anyway. Can you help please
      I just picked up a garter stitch successfully but only by trial and error. So I had to do it several times until it came out right by luck I think not by design.

    Strange question from someone super new to knitting... I have found myself going THRU the loop when inserting my needle and working around the back side of the loop rather than the front. Is this going to effect my project in any way? Or is it "special way" of knitting that has a seperate/specific name?
    Ie instead of placing my needle from the left side of the first loop coming out to the right in the middle of the loop...
    I insert my needle into the middle of the loop from the right side and come out on the left side of the back half of the loop.
    I could be explaining this super wrong I know none of the terminology

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  3 роки тому +1

      It sounds to me like you're knitting through the back loop of the stitch. In most knitting styles, this creates a twisted stitch. But this is a normal way to work the stitch if you're a Combination knitter. This video explains more about the different knitting styles: ua-cam.com/video/X5HAqG8Prbc/v-deo.html
