I get peeved when derms say if you have oily skin, at least you'll have less wrinkles! Bc people with oily skin will have big pores and tend to have acne scars. Also, we can have dry skin despite being oily. I think I'd rather have dry skin.
Thank you for saying this! As an esthetician I get so annoyed by ALL other estheticians acting like its the products you're using making you oily.. im like NO its NOT. It is NOT your fault. Its genetics and hormones. I also hate when products claim to "balance" oil production.. just stop. No they don't. As a long time oily skin sufferer I've tried it all and those claims are just marketing tactics.
I want to thank you for acknowledging and recognizing naturally oily skin and hair. We are often told it’s our fault and that we’re doing something wrong but it truly does boil down to genetics!
Ok. I kinda get what the doc is trying to tell us. It sounds like she’s saying we’re putting MORE emphasis on products & their effects on oil production & breakouts rather than what the larger emphasis should be on which is genetics, lifestyle, what we’re putting into our bodies or even what we don’t take out of our diets. She’s explaining how that will play a bigger role in helping oily skin over what we’re putting on top of our skin.
I wish I’d had a decent dermatologist when I was a teen in the 70’s and 80’s, and I struggled with awful acne/ oily skin. All the skin care treatments and recommendations were horribly drying/ irritating and I was told to avoid moisturizers as if it would make acne worse. Conventional “wisdom” of the day also convinced us that sun tanning would help acne 😱 so there I was, laying out in sun whenever I could 😣 I’m 57 now and only in the last 10 years have I come around to the importance of moisturizing. But the damage has been done 😟

@@marizzy63 same too you thanks! 🌺☀️👌🏻
I don't know why it does, but the CeraVe moisturizer causes breakouts for me. The CosRX moisturizers are a godsend, though (just wish they didn't come in jars).
First comment!! I wish to be a dermatologist like you
Thanks for watching
Nine slow continuous drinks/sips of water will always stop my hiccups. You drink it normally but just don’t take a breath between drinks
Yes! That's what I do too. Tiny sips. I don't know why it works but my theory is that your diaphragm is distracted by the action of constant swallowing and forgets to spasm. lol
My mother in law freaks at the very thought of touching cotton. 😳 The chainsaw bubble machine...my son would probably love that...my daughters, because they have a brother, would probably love it too. 😂 There are a lot of products (foundations and primers mostly) that I feel make my skin appear oilier. I always assume the ingredients don’t mesh well with my skin care or sunscreen. 🤷🏻♀️
