    Your older children are wonderful. My 6 year old grandson is severely autistic and his 10 year old sister is so tolerant and kind. Thank goodness for siblings. You should feel proud, your children are lovely because you are.

    Thank you for sharing your experiences and family. Simon is a very observant little boy. I would have not suspected he was on the spectrum. Your old children are very attentive to the younger boys. It seems to come to them so naturally. You/husband are awesome parents. I admire your organic and calming style of parenting. Please keep making these videos for they are so helpful! God Bless you/family.🙏🏼

    I love your guys videos. I have level 1 autism and your channel is just really positive. Does Ezra or Simon do any therapy’s? I know you guys do a lot of outdoor things which is pretty much therapy. Can you do a video on what can help when an autistic person is sick? That seems like some of the hardest moments for me.

    I was also interested in birds when I was younger. There’s a whistle that I remember playing with that you fill with water and blow into and then it sounds like a bird chirping. I could play with it for hours if my parents let me.

    • @thomasschoeck9080

      @@7Aheadfamily I’m not sure. It was a small bird, maybe a finch or a sparrow. I remember that the whistles were small, made of plastic, usually blue or green, and they were shaped like a bird.
      At the moment I only remember a small number of bird calls (Mourning Dove, Chickadee, Crow, Owl,Parrot, Parakeet, Love Bird) and it wasn’t any of those.

      Thank you so much for sharing and for caring so much for your little brothers with autism. ❤️ here are a few of our videos we have done in that regard. We will do more in the future as well. ❤️ The main thing is figuring out how to redirect Them for the most part. Last night Simmons was having a meltdown about bedtime, and we tried many things, but for some reason when I mentioned reading a book that took his mind off the tantrum and he actually calm down a little bit which was great. 😊

    Older kids are great care takers for Ezra and Simon. Psychologist labeled our daughter level 1 as well. What I hear from experts who are posting videos on UA-cam that mild autism or level 1 will be identified only when they get to kindergarten. When kids are evaluated early showing delays around 2 should be labeled moderate to severe. I am confused.

    How can we Handle Temper Tantrums?

    • @7Aheadfamily
      @7Aheadfamily  11 днів тому

      Great question!❤

    • @7Aheadfamily
      @7Aheadfamily  11 днів тому

      Autistic temper tantrums, also known as meltdowns, can be difficult to manage. Here are some strategies you can try:
      Stay calm
      Your child can sense your frustration, so try to remain calm and model the behavior you want them to exhibit. Keep your voice and face neutral, and use slow, calm speech.
      Create a safe space
      If possible, guide your child to a safe place, like a corner or the car. Give them space and keep others away, but try to hold them if they might hurt themselves.
      Reduce triggers
      Try to remove potential triggers and make the environment quieter by turning down the lights or using noise-cancelling headphones.
      Use calming strategies
      Offer your child calming devices like fidget toys, weighted vests, or a favorite stuffed animal. You can also try having them listen to music, drink a cold beverage, or try deep breathing.
      Don't reason with them
      Children having a meltdown can't be reasoned with, so don't rely on logic. Instead, you can try teaching them breathing exercises, meditation, or counting. You can also try reassuring them with a simple phrase that provides structure and helps them understand what's expected.

      I am also on the autism spectrum. I’m currently level one but I was level two when I was younger.
      I did not go to a special school but for more than half of my formal education I was in special education classes in a regular school.
      After making the transition to regular classes (which members of the school staff were extremely opposed to) when I was in about seventh grade I started to make more progress intellectually and even occasionally made the Honor Roll in High School and College. I eventually graduated with an English degree.
      After deciding that a career in English is not for me (It’s a long story.) I decided to study IT (Information Technology) in more detail. I am currently studying computer networking and I hope to begin designing computer networks within the next year. In connection with this I am currently studying for a couple of exams in this area. Time will tell what happens from here.

      Progress is always possible. Simon was previously nonverbal and now he’s verbal and communicating fairly well about his basic needs.
