This is the best explanation of Hallux Rigidus/limitus. Can this condition be caused by a "turf toe" injury that seemed to caused laxity to the joint? Also, how would a runner handle the cheilectomy procedure for a dorsal bunion? Thanks

Thank you so much for this video Dr. Faux. I am scheduled to have Cheilectomy (28289) surgery on my right foot later this month, and I am now simply scared, but before watching your video, I was terrified. I'm going to watch your other video's now, to further calm myself.
Your Patients are lucky to have you as their Doctor.
Thanks again, and wish me luck.

I'm like an update as well, I'm only 21 and my big toe has started hurting randomly I'm feeling like it needs to crack all the when it hurts. It comes and goes, but it's been on and off a lot the past few days and I scheduled an appointment with my orthopedic surgeon. He took good care of me when I had dequervains tenosinitis. This is a bit different, and I only had Google to go off of, but I'm almost positive that it's toe arthritis now. I'm too young for this shit I thought:( reading on Google sounds bleak, sounds like surgery is about the only way to fix it and it can get really bad and chronic I guess if you leave it be, which is what I've done since I've noticed it since it hasn't been every day but it's getting kind of unbearable when it happens. I work on my feet all day, I'm really nervous for what will happen when I go to the doctor. I almost would rather skip straight to the permanent fix rather than putting a Band-Aid on it and having to suffer with it longer. When I first went to the doctor for my tendonitis, they gave me a cast and it literally just made it to where I can't use it even more even though I couldn't really use it in the first place due to sharp pain when I grabbed things. I was apparently blessed with old man bones

@@hales6547 hey this is so weird. Sounds cliche but I got almost exactly the same problem, especially the part of it needing to crack. Where exactly do you have the pain? On top of the foot or the Bottom?

@@jesthomas2199 it was on top of my toe joint. Where it connects with the foot, right where I crack it. It went away and hasn't returned but I'm sure it will some time lol. I'm 21 so I was scared my joints are really that bad. I'm a cook, on my feet all day. The only thing I could find was hallux limitis

    X-ray shows bone erosion.

I am wondering if surgery would help to stem the progression of hallus rigidus.

He didn't mention the physio stretching that are important and have reduced my pain significantly.

I did one year of physio and it has done nothing for for HR. The only thing I got out of it was the sensation that I couldnt bend my big toe.

So cheilectomy is a temporary "fix"? Eventually you'll still need joint replacement?

Is cartilage possible to be regenerated in young people? For example, if you lost cartilage in your toe at the age of 15, your still developing/growing could this possibly mean that you could regenerate cartilage?
