You make great points. I played in the NFL at receiver and there’s no friction from this defense. You’re able to get any release you want. Brandon Steven’s just mirrors routes he has no physical play and armor Davis was the same. They are finesse corners. Lastly I agree there’s no awareness of the line to gain. There were many instances where guys just run to line to gain and get first. Number 29 had a chance on a route 3rd and 7 and he didn’t trigger l.

I usually air on the side of patience with new coordinators, but I agree. You gotta think of the dangers of demoting/firing Orr too late in the season if it comes to that. Make a change if Nix dices us up next week. You fire him in December that's a lot to throw at a defense going into the playoffs.
My main issue lies with John and EDC. John’s job was essentially saved when Lamar arrived, as he was definitely on the hot seat before that. Lamar’s dynamic play and ability to win turned things around for him. However, John continues to hire friends and familiar faces because he wants to control the room, and his ego prevents him from admitting mistakes. While he’s a player-friendly coach, he lacks the ability to bring in the right talent to elevate the team. He doesn’t welcome differing opinions, often sidelining those who challenge him. One of my favorite moments was when Marcus Peters called him out - it was long overdue. Orr is just the latest failed experiment and likely the next scapegoat. With Lamar in his prime, we took a gamble on a rookie DC to lead the defense. While I'm open to the idea, it’s a questionable decision if we’re truly serious about winning a Super Bowl. In reality, McDonald should be our head coach, and John should be in the distant rearview mirror. EDC is also a concern; his draft decisions often favor injury-prone players, which is risky in the toughest division in football. Under this ravens leadership, we will continue to fall short.
Thanks for this analysis. I appreciate it because you're more knowledgeable than I am and are vocalizing the things I have been thinking concerning this defense

7 games in there has to a fundamental shift to coaching. Whatever they are trying hasn’t worked and honestly the alternative is just letting it ride which is idiotic because at this point it can’t get worst so changing things up can only help or put you in the same position Also, O-line can’t pas protect against the better defensive lines. Half our plays are Lamar running and being special. No quick hot reads on pressure ever. We can’t fix what we have and the Steelers are going take the division because they have two d-linen and an older QB
Your point about the O-line is crucial and, perhaps, goes unnoticed because of Lamar's great play and the dedense's poor play. We can't take the AFCN like this. Something has to change.
Was this defense even that talented last year? Or was MacDonald responsible for a lot of their success with simulated pressures, creative calls, etc? Who can you look at to reliably rush the passer?
We have to be prepared - We will be the 6 or 7 seed Lamar is going to have be HISTORICALLY Great - he seems like now he wants the moment We had a historically, great defense were possessions away from beating the best team in football over the last five years and we went with a rookie head coach on defense . Coach Imo we as ravens fans are a bit biased and have extremely high expectations for this ball club. Think of the 16-0 pats. We have one goal in mind and that’s the sb. Yeah we failed the side quest, didn’t get the bonus points but we are still going to the finals. Ya know what I mean coach ? Stay positive. At 12:55 to 13:10 you said what a lot of us feel which is we only are designed to stop the run. I was saying earlier that we had a team of UDFA come in to training camp and give this defense a time.
We fired pees because we were sick of his man blitzing .. he then goes to the titans nd falcons and shits the bed now we go bk nd hire him in an advisory role … ffs… ORR better off just looking at tape from last season to be his advisor lol also I know I can’t do better just a passionate fan. keep up the awesome work Coach 😈
Not reacting means they don't know what's going on with the offense pre snap, or, at least, not well enough to be instinctually reactive in play. Not prepared when they are supposed to be studying that offense all week @ Owings Mills & in their homework!! This is, of course, lack of study & preparation. Can be nothing else in pro football. Noticed by week 4 breakdown in assignment, alignment, technique & massive communication issues. No concern whatsoever for inside leverage by db's and safeties. Therefore, slants completed and rarely contested by them or the lb's. The constant success of those slants... was the gigantic Red Flag that the defense was critically unprepared!! No aggressive press whatsoever. No plays on the ball. Orr's defense is, essentially, a practice team defense. That is, it is there to let the offense do what it wants to, be close and make tackles... without aggression or making plays on the ball. Brandon Stephens is the prime example of this. He's always close, makes the tackle, but NEVER bats a ball down or gets an int. That means... he's not prepared to be an NFL db on a championship team. He's a practice player. Not a championship defense? Lol! Three losses in the AFC, and we are only two above .500... with Denver, Pitts, Cinci in the next three. Denver's D can get that crucial stop or two ( it seems ), so can Pitts' D & Cinci can outscore us with our/Orr's defense. So, we could have 6 AFC losses by week 11, and be completely out of, even, the playoff picture. I was trying to sound the alarm 4 weeks ago about Orr. You didn't need all 22 to see that a great defense had regressed to being a practice team defense. If they lose to Denver this week due to a bad defensive game again... the panic that should be occurring now ( actually 4 weeks ago it should have been occurring ) better begin, or this team is gonna slide in a really bad way. Should have turned the page last year & moved Harbaugh to the front office and kept McDonald. Said it then, and will continue to say it no matter what he does in Seattle. He was bred to be here, not there & this defense would be the same as it was last year, with a much better offense.... Complacency, complacency, complacency!!! Said that, too, after they let McDonald walk... Hope it changes, but after week 8, yer usually what you are by then.
Orr I think is issue… common denominator…. And where is m. Williams 3rd highest paid player on team a healthy scratch??? He worked last year inside locker room mess?
Keep it 100. We need a nuclear offense which is intent on scoring 40 pts per game. do we have a rounded contender, NO. do we have one of the most dangerous contenders who could flip out any given sunday, YES. Being a good coach, Harbs needs to realise the limitations presently and coach to accommodate. H/ever, we have a defence with playmaker, it's still a unit which can get tunrovers and sacks- just do that maybe is all i ask. lets just enjoy the ride which is the 2024 Ravens.
Defensive Changes: “Get as many of the players in this secondary off the field as much as possible”. Trade for a safety and a pass rusher, reduce Kyle being used all over the place and put him back at safety more, get Wigg & Merlo back, put Simpson on the field more, call two defensive plays and Row quickly checks to the one that gets the look we want, press more and funnel everything else to Kyle, practice catching the ball before and after every practice. Offensive Changes: don’t abandon chipping, get the RG out of the game on obvious passing downs, if they not spying Lamar then call QB designed runs a little more often until they do. I hope someone can tell me none of this will work
@@TimberTom991Honestly FaLLeLE has been playing moderately good. The offense has been rolling, hell on wheels even. But this defense my dude… it’s just bad
There was a play with Wyatt Taylor on Trenton Simpson. That was a big play. Wyatt Taylor come through the hole when he was pooling and tackled Simpson. I feel like the refs are calling holding on us on crucial plays and but we're not getting them whenever. It's like third down and five five and our people are being held. It's just unreal. It's blatantly obvious
It’s been 7 weeks and nothing has changed if we are trying to win a championship a total overhaul of the defense needs to come first Zac Orr either needs to go or have the defense scheme simplified so it’s more understandable for the players to understand!! We ignore the pass rush don’t add any dogs on the D line and we wonder why we get lit up each week !!! Eddie Jackson Marcus Williams an Brandon Stephens call all see the bench an in off season they need to be cut and replaced and whoever #5 playing cornerback for us is be he’s super trash 🗑️
I completely agree. We're not physical and without Marlon Humphrey playing or even powderpuff like Marlon Humphrey is probably the one player on defense that is physical
Orr didn't drop those picks. We were also playing without 2 of our starting corners and a starting safety. That all I'm willing to give Orr though. This season appears to be one in which if the offense plays perfect, we win, if they make any mistakes, we lose. That's not a winning recipe.
Don't hold back. Give it to us straight from the hip. We've noticed the softened approach to the secondary, whether it's poor setup from the DC or some sort of malaise among the players. It doesn't look like they're having fun out there.
I do not know if you were following the Ravens 2012-2017 under Dean Pees, but his defenses regularly were very difficult on the players mentally and also showed similar results in key moments in the second half. I am wondering if they are trying to play that version of the system which would be disappointing. Could be way off though, just a thought.
You are spot on bro! Love every points you made, I love the podcast aspect, this defense is historically bad and it’s sad how we’re wasting Lamar’s greatest peak in his career with an experimental DC, this is wild!! All of our players look lost and can’t make a play! Madabuike, Ro, Oweh, and I’m tired of hearing how Bsteve always in tight coverage, mf is soft! it’s week 8 and none of our DBs can locate the ball when it’s in the air that’s crazyy, Wiggins be panicking, Bsteve don’t want no flags so he just mirror wrs and hope they don’t make a good catch! These coaches are failing Lamar and it all falls on Harbaugh, starting w hiring Orr and being soo delusional and weak he never wanna make the hard decisions! For ex, Greg Roman should of been fired wayy longer, he couldn’t unlock Lamar passing game w that elementary passing scheme, Ravensflock seen it but the team couldn’t smh… He’s too nice of a coach and let a lot of things slide, we should be a dynasty rn with offense and defense elite if he held people to very high standards but he likes and satisfied with just being good SMFH
For all of those who are crying for Mike MacDonal Seattle’s/ Mike Mack defense before yesterday’s game is just MID at best. 14th against the pass 23rd against the run 17th overall 19th in points allowed (23.4 per game) This is all before today’s game in which the Bills have scored 31 points on them. And the team’s record is about to drop to 4-4 despite Jeno Smith leading the league in passing. Just sayin’
We need to bring inn bill b hes unemployed and hes been a master at defense his whole career even last year patriots were good on defense without any skill players
Maybe the D is suffering from losing the players who signed elsewhere. Maybe the lack of pressure on the QB reflects on the Db’s Maybe it’s the new coach. Maybe it’s the head coach. One thing thats not a maybe and that is if they don’t find a way to fix the problem they will be knocked out of playoffs very soon.
I just saw a breakdown from Dan Orlavsky and it showed that they went all-out blitz *6 TIMES* in a row on the Browns final drive! Sounds like Wink Martindale all over again! smh
Everybody is over complicating this shit. We’ve spamming the same cover 2 high safety w/ simulated pressure since last year. KC created a blueprint in the playoffs after seeing a full season of that defense & everyone else sees it too now. The middle of the field is wide open, our CBs are always there but aren’t aggressive enough to make a play on the ball. Roquan is to slow to cover the middle of the field himself while the safety’s are deep. We gotta mix it up coverage wise & trade for an elite pass rusher. Marlo & Wiggins coming back will help
Imagine the time line where we promoted Mike McDonald to HC and harbaugh to some senior exec role. But instead we chose a degrading familiarity over a rising excellence. Can’t believe it
I’m going to take this one step further and by no means am I defending Orr. ZO is the common denominator when it comes to our struggles on defense, but the blame ultimately is on edc, harbaugh and the front office and here’s why: it’s up to them to appoint personnel and assign duties to coaches and do believe harbaugh has a big say in this. Now look at it in the most simple terms, if you are offered a promotion in your company regardless if you believe you are ready for it do you take it? Yes you do and people that say no are either lying or blatantly dumb. So is it fair to blame ZO for taking a promotion when offered? No, the blame is on the people that put him in this position. ZO is the problem that is clear and you can blame him for his inability to preform but when you are identifying a problem you need to go to the source of the issue and that is in this case malpractice by our front office rushing a guy into a position he’s not qualified for and ultimately hurting this teams ability to be successful as a unit. I do agree ZO needs to go or step aside but as a fan base we need to start putting pressure on the people that actually make the decisions in this org and not a dc who was given an opportunity of a lifetime and took it regardless if he was ready.
Last season, every defender knew their own assignment and everyone else's assignment. They played as one. This year, it seems like they don't even know their own assignment at times. There are times when our blue chip defenders look lost. I don't know if this can even be fixed. It's a shame. I had such high hopes for this team.
It has to do woth Orr, if it wss only a couple of players that looked "fishy" I wouldn't blame Orr, but it's everybody that looks out of whack, but it won't change because harbaugh doesn't do his job
Coach idk if you seen this on social media but there was a tweet that Sarah Ellison posted that Lamar Jackson responded too. It was the play where Lamar tried to call a tripping play. The dlineman kicked Lamar in the elbow and when Lamar tried to get the officials attention on it, they told him they can do that. That game was rigged… I believe it was.
This was a 💩 game after dazzling the country on MNF. Coaching can’t make WRs catch 3 drops on 3rd down and can’t make DBs catch INTs thrown straight to them. HOWEVER, this is was the get-right game and Orr failed. I’m concerned with the Bengals game on a short week. If results continue, there will probably be a change during the BYE
We need to hit the free agency and bring in not one but 2 pass rushers and all of these interception drops are insane, like what kind of drills are we running at practice. Stephens getting BBQ Baked every game is disgusting to watch week after week.
From what I see. From a players perspective.. they have no faith in the coach / system they are running. Like almost playing for a coach you really don’t believe in.
I hate to say this giys but Orr is not the problem with our team on defense. It's that our dbs can't catch an interception if they could I doubt we would have lost a single game as nearly every game their has been at least 3 interception we dropped that weren't even hard catches. Just my opinion I would leave Zack alone when the players start performing like they always have suddenly we will be going wow this defense is amazing lol
Go take a look at the Chiefs coaching staff. Most have been there 6 yrs and have multiple championships to show. Why don't good coaches stay here? Is it a culture problem? Is it Harbaugh? We got 1 yr out of Macdonald as DC then he bolted.
CANYOU EXPLAIN WHY TYLAN WALLACE IS PLAYING BUT A RROOKIE STEVE SMITH JR SAID WILL TAKE SOME ONE JOB HAS HAD ONE PLAY ????? NOW SOME MIGHT THINK WELL IT JUST A COMMENT BY EX RAVEN BUT WHO SAID NUMBER 14 WOULD BE ONE OF THE BEST IN THE NFL WHEN PEOPLE WERE LIKE DID WE WASTE A DRAFT PICK ON THIS PLAYER!!
Roquan can't cover only tackle ..pass rushers are Trash I guess harbs thinks having multiple edge rushers will help they all are backups on another team who do we have that's gon strike fear in a offense 🤔. NOBODY💯 CORNER BACKS. Never play the ball smh .and safety's can't cover it's REALLY BAD AND GONNA GET WORSE IF HARBS DON'T DO SOMETHING WE DONT WANT DEAN PEES EITHER FOH
I agree with you coach on the lack of urgency & passion and I believe that is on the coaching… harbaugh coaches like he knows he’s not going to lose his job so he’s comfortable and doesn’t take accountability or holds anyone accountable. At the press conference he said we’re not going to win every game n that’s loser mentality. Ravens knew a new young energetic defensive minded coach (Mike Macdonald) to give some passion to the team.
Defense was #1 in EVERY single category last season, now ranked dead last. It’s not a talent issue, it’s Orrs scheme.
Agreed. But we don’t know where the breakdown is: bad scheme? Badly coached scheme? Poorly executed scheme? Could be one thing or all three. As DC, you’re responsible for all 3

The bottom line is that Harbaugh is the head coach this loss falls on him. Orr should be micromanaged until either he proves himself or gets fired

I hope someone can tell me none of this will work
We get nothing from both guards. It's unbelievable how harbaugh wants to go with faalele at right guard. Down right ridiculous.
@@TimberTom991Honestly FaLLeLE has been playing moderately good. The offense has been rolling, hell on wheels even. But this defense my dude… it’s just bad
I like this style coach. I think you should do more.
Ro looks overweight imo. I noticed a slight gain last year but this year he looks way out of shape to me
There was a play with Wyatt Taylor on Trenton Simpson. That was a big play. Wyatt Taylor come through the hole when he was pooling and tackled Simpson. I feel like the refs are calling holding on us on crucial plays and but we're not getting them whenever. It's like third down and five five and our people are being held. It's just unreal. It's blatantly obvious
Maybe Dennard Wilson was a bigger loss than we realized too.
100%. I agree.
Hire Ed reed as new pass game coordinator?
It’s been 7 weeks and nothing has changed if we are trying to win a championship a total overhaul of the defense needs to come first Zac Orr either needs to go or have the defense scheme simplified so it’s more understandable for the players to understand!! We ignore the pass rush don’t add any dogs on the D line and we wonder why we get lit up each week !!! Eddie Jackson Marcus Williams an Brandon Stephens call all see the bench an in off season they need to be cut and replaced and whoever #5 playing cornerback for us is be he’s super trash 🗑️
I’d love to see a break down of how this defensive operates vs how McDonalds did last season.
Orr is out of his depth.
Don't hold back. Give it to us straight from the hip. We've noticed the softened approach to the secondary, whether it's poor setup from the DC or some sort of malaise among the players. It doesn't look like they're having fun out there.
This DEF made Famous Jaime's look like an MVP. If you're not set off by this comment, you dont get it!
Orr said he wanted organized chaos. Well we definitely got the chaos part down 🤦♂️
100% agree.
Coach Orr is the problem
For all of those who are crying for Mike MacDonal
Seattle’s/ Mike Mack defense before yesterday’s game is just MID at best.
14th against the pass
23rd against the run
17th overall
19th in points allowed (23.4 per game)
This is all before today’s game in which the Bills have scored 31 points on them. And the team’s record is about to drop to 4-4 despite Jeno Smith leading the league in passing.
Just sayin’
We need to bring inn bill b hes unemployed and hes been a master at defense his whole career even last year patriots were good on defense without any skill players
It all comes back to Harbs rolling the darn dice risking the house and losing it leaving everyone homeless
Sounds like Wink Martindale all over again! smh
Is our lack of quick reqctions on defense because they remain uncertain
Love the vid!!!
Orr in way over his head trying to run Wink's old schemes why is Pees back in the bldg?
Everybody is over complicating this shit. We’ve spamming the same cover 2 high safety w/ simulated pressure since last year. KC created a blueprint in the playoffs after seeing a full season of that defense & everyone else sees it too now. The middle of the field is wide open, our CBs are always there but aren’t aggressive enough to make a play on the ball. Roquan is to slow to cover the middle of the field himself while the safety’s are deep. We gotta mix it up coverage wise & trade for an elite pass rusher. Marlo & Wiggins coming back will help
Any comments on our lack of hands sir?
It's gotta be a mental thing right?
Imagine the time line where we promoted Mike McDonald to HC and harbaugh to some senior exec role. But instead we chose a degrading familiarity over a rising excellence. Can’t believe it
Mike Macdonald*
@@itaintme. good looks
Harbaugh makes goooood money. Dick Vermeil worked those many hours.
What do you think about the Ravens bringing back Wink Martindale? In at Michigan right now
The move was to promote Macdonald..he passed the audition with flying colors..instead we get this…😑
I’m going to take this one step further and by no means am I defending Orr.
I like these. I want to team up with you and do these.
That game was rigged… I believe it was.
facts. 😂ppl are just to blind to see that
If they’re forcing you to make videos like this … then so be it , we’re still here listening and agreeing lol
No more Penn State defensive players!!
We’re watching a defense that doesn’t believe in their dc. Body language says it all
Could we bring back Chuck Clark and Clowney?
Draft season time till Orr is gone anyone know if there’s any ball hawking safety’s this year ?
I genuinely think the players dont believe in zach orr's schemes and i think it shows.
We need to hit the free agency and bring in not one but 2 pass rushers and all of these interception drops are insane, like what kind of drills are we running at practice. Stephens getting BBQ Baked every game is disgusting to watch week after week.
The defensive coordinator has to go. Plain and simple.
the problem is u need a TRUE DE LIKE MAX CROSBY
From what I see. From a players perspective.. they have no faith in the coach / system they are running. Like almost playing for a coach you really don’t believe in.
I hate to say this giys but Orr is not the problem with our team on defense. It's that our dbs can't catch an interception if they could I doubt we would have lost a single game as nearly every game their has been at least 3 interception we dropped that weren't even hard catches. Just my opinion I would leave Zack alone when the players start performing like they always have suddenly we will be going wow this defense is amazing lol
You can tell our defenders aren't comfortable - that's why they're dropping easy balls. Too much running around and second guessing.
With as much money the nfl makes it sucks they're greedy enough to go after content creator's money
Go take a look at the Chiefs coaching staff. Most have been there 6 yrs and have multiple championships to show. Why don't good coaches stay here? Is it a culture problem? Is it Harbaugh? We got 1 yr out of Macdonald as DC then he bolted.
at this point It's not smart to stand pat we waited to long as it is.
Embarrassing to see such talent wasted. Better to call in a forfeit than do what the hell they did yesterday.
coach, why do the ravens have so many whiffs on olb? oweh and ojabo are not difference makers.
Harbs and Orr need to go.
Move Stephens back to safety
Idk if I wanna listen to your voice but I definitely wanna hear your perspective😂
Please get rid of Eddie Jackson
would rather see some bench players get a chance. brade in particular. need hungry players
Cut EDDIE JACKSON PLEASE AND TAKE ZAC ORR WITH HIM
I agree with you coach on the lack of urgency & passion and I believe that is on the coaching… harbaugh coaches like he knows he’s not going to lose his job so he’s comfortable and doesn’t take accountability or holds anyone accountable. At the press conference he said we’re not going to win every game n that’s loser mentality. Ravens knew a new young energetic defensive minded coach (Mike Macdonald) to give some passion to the team.
zach doesn’t know what he’s doing, the players know, as a result they don’t trust him or each other
