Orr alluded to simplifying the scheme presnap today. He also mentioned getting the call in quicker. My hope is that the combination of these two things can allow the squad to find their footing before we complicate things again
I heard that Marcus saw Steve Bisciotti at Whole Foods before the game, shouted "chicken tenders suck" and drove away on a bike yelling “bing bong” hence why he was benched for the game
Marcus Williams pff: Overall Grade - 2023 (73.8) / 2024 (48.9) Run Defense - 2023 (60.8*) / 2024 (65.1) Coverage - (76.4) 16th in the league / 2024 (46.8) 120th. * The lowest of his career, probably because of the torn pec Also, in 2023: HIs forced incompletion rate was , was #11 in the league He had 10 pass breakups, which was #1 in the league His zone coverage grade was 5th in the league Roquan Smith in 2023 had the 2nd highest* pff overall grade of all Linebackers (88.1) and now in 2024 it's 57.1 which is ranked 103rd/154 *Edit
I really appreciate the breakdown coach as this was a confusing situation. I was having my frustrations with Williams before the Browns game where it felt like he could have been doing just a little bit more effort at the catch or prevent a play, and sometimes it looks like he's just covering grass, with little awareness of the route development until it's way too late. Roquan also has been looking at the qb as they constantly throw just out of his reach to wide open guys near him. Maybe against a combination of Mahomes and Kelce and not much else, that's the right starting strategy, but not generally, especially when it is not working over and over and over like Marshawn. Idk. This is mostly the same level of talent as a nearly historic level top unit last year and in flashes this year. Buffalo was the only great game, but they were hot at the time. They had 3 great quarters a few times, but were playing really bad coverages and apparently principles, especially with leads when it should have been easier than the other stuff. Reckless speculation, but he probably didn't respond well in the film session from Tampa and words, not necessarily film or how Eddie Jackson was doing, were a determining factor. Unfortunately, because I was predicting a Williams bounce back game with two picks, but he probably wouldn't have dropped any of the 3 or gave up either of the one on one tds without a better play on the ball or receiver. Anyway, Charlie Browns, flush it all down, on to Cincinnati through Denver.
It's almost like A linebacker, who was a linebacker coach is running the defense, with little experience to the nuance of the DB's who play behind linebackers.... I can't remember the defensive style Orr played back in 2015, id have to look, but I wonder if that's where he's pulling his experience from, seeing as Mike Macdonald wasn't here THAT long. Or maybe I'm off.
I never thought Marcus digressed that fast at such a young age. Stevens would be a much better safety than corner. He doesn’t know how to turn and play the ball which has been evident since he’s been a Raven, so if he’s already turned around as a safety it could benefit him. Washington is much better playing the ball. This is a very good analysis and your last one was as well. If you’re able to break this down and the coaches who get paid to do it can’t, it speaks volumes of concern. Harbaugh has continually failed to take responsibility for his lack of coaching however, he’s quick to penalizes his players when they speak up about something the coaches should have known that’s hurting the team. It seems like Harbaugh’s ego causes him to put himself before the good of the team. Penalizing Marcus Williams was a double sword of negativity for the Ravens. Harbaugh obviously didn’t listen to Marcus’s concerns so, no real helpful changes were made to the defense and John didn’t play him which I believe cost the Ravens the game. That is the John Harbaugh that I have witnessed from day 1 of his employment with the Ravens, just ask Todd Heap.
Should we try to go for some Jet defensive players? I wonder if they will finally give up this season. Watching the Thursday night game, their offense sucks
problem with zach orr defense is that it resembles dean pees more than it does mike macdonald. what made mike mac is his feel for the game...he knows when to call certain plays at the right time. dean pees is a bit more vanilla and zach orr leans more towards dean's style. mike mac be having seasoned vets seeing ghost by disguising the 4th rusher and it was great to watch
Thanks for the analysis. I really enjoy your videos. I’m curious, I’d like to see some comparative plays from 2023 vs 2024 to see how they are reacting differently. Have you compared film like that?
True, but whether they do or don’t they should still catch the ball and be in position, the fact that they dropped all those Ints might mean Orr has them where they’re supposed to be in the field.

We need Orr to be having these guys thinking about route combinations. They are all staring at the QB.
Marcus Williams pff:
Overall Grade - 2023 (73.8) / 2024 (48.9)
Run Defense - 2023 (60.8*) / 2024 (65.1)
Coverage - (76.4) 16th in the league / 2024 (46.8) 120th.
* The lowest of his career, probably because of the torn pec
Also, in 2023:
HIs forced incompletion rate was , was #11 in the league
He had 10 pass breakups, which was #1 in the league
His zone coverage grade was 5th in the league
Roquan Smith in 2023 had the 2nd highest* pff overall grade of all Linebackers (88.1) and now in 2024 it's 57.1 which is ranked 103rd/154

Man it’s hard for me to accept Marcus been as bad as the pff score indicates coach . I’ve seen him be a legit playmaker

starting to wonder if the players respect zach orr?
That's a good question. I feel like they don't.

Thanks Sir
Williams has been more physical in the run game this year.
How do u draw the arrows and lines on screen. I can’t figure it out
Marcus definitely would have gitten Jamies a couple of times. He intercepts the ball well
Coach, I don’t think our new DB coach is good. We need this win. I hope he does play.
