Anthony trying to reconnect with his emo origins
He is going to the shadow realm
it’s beautiful
So true
😂
Fr Fr
This was just Anthony talking to his idols for 28 minutes.
literally
I really can relate with Anthony when he said that his emo phase wasn’t just a phase lol! I still love the music
Same
I can relate but switch emo with kpop. I had my kpop fase around 2017-2018 and this year it came back lol (though I think my hard-core fan period was shorter, now I'm just a fan of 2 groups and listen to any kpop song I like)
I don't know why it's even so widely talked about as a "phase" thing. Maybe some people have a phase of being particularly obsessed with something, and then chill out a little, but tbh in my experience most things people are passionate about tend to remain with us in some way for life. Especially music, even if we get into other things, we don't suddenly lose interest in what was so meaningful to us
ITS NOT A PHASE MOM
same tho
“Emo legends” my man coulda just interviewed himself
Anthony’s begging us to allow him to talk to more emo bands. We should support him lmao
And he looks sooo happy doing it too!
Part 2 should def include Brendon since he's a person of the internet. I'm sure Anthony will be able to get a hold of him :)
DEATHCORE🤘
Jules Ruizol HELL YES
More Emo & Post Hardcore, maybe even Pop punk.
Theory: the emo genre helped to normalise talking about mental health...
it definitely helped release the teenage angst. That's what's lacking in mainstream music today. I'm tired of toxic positivity music, we need to acknowledge that we're sad again through music lmao.
Anthony's video's always distantly interact with some sort of mental health support, I mean, also just supporting all sorts of people is quite healthy 4 our health in general
@@cloudofreverie786
I can't tell if he's mainstream or not, but CaveTown is pretty good, and so is Egg, and Mxmtoon or however you spell it, as well as Beach Bunny! 👌👌
@@localforestwitch7215 mxmtoon?
Def helps teenage relate and rebel, release anger and all emotions really.
From first to last. The band where legendary dj skrillex came from. Small world...
The album dead trees is on is straight 9/10s with no skips tbh
@_Xypes_ sonny isn't on that tho, that's travis lol
@@janaxelblomberg7768 ik, sonny left like 8 years before(?) it’s just one of my favourite from first to last albums
Anthony: I never outgrew my emo faze
Every picture video: his hair is still 2008 emoish, wears black skinny jeans with rips, talks about how much he loves emo music, wears converse high tops,
Me: well no shit:
He had a few years, especially right before and after leaving Smosh, where he just had a "normal dude" look. Only in the last few years has he started to dress emo again
Anthony out here acting like he isn't an emo legend himself
Copppy
I love your pfp
He did acknowledge that. Did you even watch it?
True
*we all know the truth*
We all know the true reason Anthony filmed this video was to live his longtime dream of meeting all his favorite bands from his emo hair days
Can anyone blame him?
Shane is so genuine and I love him. I can't wait to be able to see silverstein in person again
The whole band always seem like a couple of nice dudes who love writing and playing music and they always show so much appreciation for their success :)
"People in south america don't get as much music" yeah, this drives us insane. Every time a band has an "International tour" we basically pray that they don't mean "US, Canada and some parts of Europe".
...
A fellow fan of my favorite band: Oh yeah I followed them on their last national tour, I've seen them 107 times by now.
Me, a south american: Oh cool. They came to my country literally 3 times, so that's what I was able to watch.
It is crazy how much South/Central America Asia and Africa is left out of “world tours”. They should just call them “Northernwestern Hemisphere Tours”.
@@kayseacamp yeah, when I talk about them I refer to them as "International tours". Like, sure, you are going outside your country, but don't you dare call that The World when you are only hitting... 2? 3? continents.
Truee
I get you. I hate seeing "North America Tour" and then they completely ignore Mexico.
That's how we feel when they say world tour and leave out South Africa.
"It doesn't have to be a phase it can just be a genre of music that people enjoy" THANK YOU
Funny that none of these bands were emo music
🙌
@@Naotahaley i mean with that being said early silverstein did have a bit of emo influence, but they dropped it over the years
Naota Haley Thank you!! Lol these kids think because a band dresses like the “2008 rawr XD” and sing sad lyrics it’s emo. By their definition Taylor Swift is emo.
@@bowitboy6635 A lot of people don't really understand what emo actually is and that it came from punk. There was this very funny video we all watched back then called "How to be Emo" that is ridiculous but explains it pretty well lol. Most think emo kids all look like MySpace scene queens but I remember it just being about music, black clothes, dyed black hair and very colourful jewelry. I looked like that too. 😆
And many people nowadays think Linkin Park and dressing in all black are emo. It's so sad. 🤦🏻♀️
*Anthony acting like he ain't one himself.*
We all know the truth
I know
He is a fanboy, you can tell he is so excited to meet them
You can totally tell he is fanning out rn 💕 it’s so cute
I don't care about being another cliche Silverstein saved my life and I'll always be grateful❤
He worked with phaseone one of my fav dubstep producer lately
I grew up with Silverstein.. Underoath too
I’d love to see you talk to 2000s metal bands that pioneered a lot of the bands today like Slipknot and Korn
BRoo that'd be so good! Imagine Anthony sitting down with Corey, Johnathan, maybe even like Serj or something
That would be awesome
Anthony is literally such a fanboy😆
That's an awesome video! I grew up in Russia and being an emo dude was extremely tough, everybody would mock you or bully you either for your hair or your skinny jeans that you had to buy at the female sections lol But we survived and those were the best times of my life. I still listen to some of the bands from that time like Saosin, FFTL, the Used etc
This is such a pool to dig from. Bands like The Matches, Scary Kids Scaring Kids(obviously their not their singer), Saosin, Drop Dead Grogeous, The Fall of Troy, Hawthorn Heights, Stutterfly/Secret and Whisper, Grace Gale, ismfof and so many more. This should totally be a series.
i love seeing Anthony squeeing in his pants just talking to these guys but trying to remain professional, it's so wholesome.
wut :
MAKE THIS A SERIES IN ITS SELF. Living for it and also literally so happy for you that you can do this. Goals.
Please please please make this a series! 😍
anthony padilla My Chem interview plz
@@francesfarmer7437 YES
Boy... I can only imagine how excited Anthony was when he watched Mykie's emo makeover video, she was one hot scene girl.
i would die of happyness if you did more alternative/metal based interview videos. as a musician learning about the journeys of other musicians is more than i could ever ask for. ik im 2 years late for this video but this was a true service
Anthony: ***has hair with swoop for years, sitting with his knees in and feet wide out, dozens of rings, converse, and black ripped jeans, dating one of the prettiest grunge/emo girls ever***
Anthony: “re-listening to your music made me realize this wasn’t a phase!”
😂😂
Exactly 😂
Lmaooo
It really is.
Anthony is the poster child for all of the people who never grew out of their emo phase 😂 I appreciate having such a good representative
This interview is absolutely golden. I love all three of those bands even though I was probably a kindergartner in their prime. I scream to A Boy Brushed Red on my way to work. 😭 May they forever write emo anthems.
shane is literally the kindest person in music I have ever met. I love him so much.
Yes, so wholesome and not pretentious at all 💗
His Lead Singer Syndrome Podcast is legendary
It would be sick to see you interview artists that were massive in the MySpace days, like Brokencyde, Millionaires, 3OH!3, NSN, Drop Dead, Gorgeous, etc.
Why do I have all of those in my Spotify except NSN 😂
Gross
havent heard any of those names in 15 years
I still rock out to Drop Dead Gorgeous in my car.
~jefreestar~
Why is no one talking about how he didn’t say “wondrous” he just said the world of legendary emo band leaders👁👄👁
Omg i was looking for somone else to notice! "
I was thinking maybe he's decided to leave it out from now on, especially because a lot of the topics he's covered recently aren't "wondrous" (police brutality, cults, etc.). personally, I think it's a smart move lol
He’s stopped doing it and it’s startling 👁👄👁
@@hopsfy i think so too, the police brutality one was the first i saw where he left it out and i was like thank god lol
i love how cool and casual and friendly and genuine these guys are. so much respect for this scene and genre
I've been screaming through this. I still love these bands and they meant so much to me way back in highschool more than 10 yrs. ago.
I think that metal band leaders would be a cool episode.
I feel like it's kinda misunderstood as being satanic and that it requires no talent.
(obviously that's not the case)
I completely agree
PLS PLS PLS PLS
i would absolutely love to see a video on that

@@helenamusic260 I appreciate the username so much dude
Shawna Keating thanks man 😌
I'm getting chills just by looking at Shane. Silverstein helped me so much throughout some of my hardest moments and I still listen to them weekly. Thank you Anthony for making this video!!!
Saw Hawthorne Heights with Silverstein and JT from HH was out talking to fans and super nice and sociable. Tried to talk to Shane after the show and basically got brushed off and it literally crushed every fiber of my love for them, and I had loved Silverstein since I was 12 years old(this happened 2 years ago when I was 25), and I've pretty much been unable to listen to them ever since. Maybe it was a bad night, but man, it hurt. The other 2 bands on here were also so influential to who I am as a person. They're Only Chasing Safety was one of the cds my sister got me for Christmas 2005, as well as Discovering the Waterfront. I also used to listen to From First to Last religiously.
We absolutely need to have a follow up with “MySpace Legends” lol
Scene kings and queens: where are they now?
Can you believe that one of those legend's was Jeffree Star cause that's where he got known and he used to perform song's live :")
@@georgiam.3957 yeah I have heard enough out of jeffree we Don't need to add him to this
@@theoutsiderjess4869 Seriously. He's an incredibly trash human being who should've fallen out of the public eye ages ago, but really should've never gotten there to begin with. He's one of the few that really needs to a "cancelled" at this point
YES WE DO
About 2 years ago I met Oli from BMTH while thrifting and he was the absolute most sweetest musician I have ever met up to date 🥺 It would be amazing to see him on your channel or perhaps Vic Fuentes, Andy Biersack (Black), Kellin Quinn , Austin Carlile, and so many other iconic “post-hardcore” singers from that genre of music. They’re all so sweet and it would be so cool to have them talk about Warped Tour, touring, and what it was like to be a part of their bands during the peak of their careers I believe in you Anthony !! Please make it happen 😭❤️
that’d be a dream!
That’d be cool just without Austin, what with the sexual assault allegations against him giving him a platform like this seems like a huge slap in the face towards his victims in my opinion
I got to see BTMH the very last time they toured with Vans warped tour, i can onky imagine howd it feel to be even closer to him then that.
AnthonyPadilla woah
Marina Willans he has sexual assault allegations !?!?! 😱😱
Just watched this video tonight and all I can say is WOW 🥺 it’s been so amazing to watch you and all of these vocalists grow over the years and this video really put a smile on my face tonight. Keep up the good work. ❤️
I 300% love the fact that a Spencer showed up face to face.
Forever my favorite band, such damn good people. Long live the Øath

If you do a part 2, you should totally get geoff from thursday. Like i was him live in concert and hes just so open and seems so geniunly nice. He is probably one of the most down to earth people who have had a platform I have seen, like even through his success he seemed to geniunly love his fans.
The fact that you featured FFTL makes me so, so happy.

Alternative title: Anthony being a fanboy for 28 minutes straight
thank you so much for this video - made me so emotional (no pun intended). Such an amazing part of my life and I'm glad people are still keeping it alive.
this is amazing- I just started watching but I am so pumped. although i had many loves, Silverstein and Underoath were two of my absolute favorites.
ALSO, saw Silverstein and August Burns Red last year and it was amazing. Shane’s voice is STILL as I remembered when I was just a kid. such a great show...ABR killed it as well
I'm clueless of EMO. I will educate myself. I love music of most kinds. Your shows are mind opening. Thank you Anthony. ps I'm 61
How old are you?
@@brendielahooha re read his comment
Fourfa.com has a list of the early punk and hardcore roots of emo. Although he stops at and hates everything after 2000.
2000s emo is almost its own thing entirely, which has truer roots in the 90s than the 80s.
you’re in for a ride and i’m so excited for you to experience it all for the first time! lol
I love this comment beyond words. Enjoy it all Anita, it's such a good section of music.
Totally forgot Anthony was emo for like 10 years straight
This is the most amazing video I have watched in along time !! These three bands were like my teenage years and I love them still !! Thank you for making it Anthony!! I can’t wait to watch more videos like this !!
I love how excited Anthony is in this video, and i'm excited for him!
I'm going to be so happy if emo, hardcore music comes back into the mainstream.. It's slowly rising again.
Sad that this doesn’t have more views. I know I sound like a boomer but these kids today will never understand
DansWarped yeah but it’s still different. Like you had to experience the era first hand because it was more than just music
Ok boomer (lol jk)
Bro the vid came 6 days ago ...
Im 13 and I understand where your coming from
Yah, i know what you mean. Kids today are chubby, soft and entitled and dont realize the world around them. Too much soy in their diets.
my brain exploded when i read the title because I used to listen to all of these bands when I was a lil emo kid and I'd almost forgotten about them
I do love these light-hearted videos in between your serious ones. You've got a healthy mix going on here. That Tom DeLonge story seriously made me laugh so hard. Thanks for sharing this was really fun!
This show/channel is just so genuine
teenage anthony's freaking out right now. I'M freaking out right now.
I'm freaking out right now.
Dude same lol
Same!
Slowly accepting that Anthony has taken "wonderous world" out of his intro
I think it’s because he’s been tackling some more serious topics like police brutality, and putting “wonderous world” before that seems insensitive.
I really enjoyed this series....hope there's more like this to come!!!
I am feeling a lot of nostalgia about this genre of music and I've never wanted to stop enjoying it, as it was such a big part of my life. felt SO nice to watch this, and would love to see more

Whenever anybody posts something like "we all had the emo phase" on social media, I'm like.... "Phase?" I will always and forever listen to "emo" music. Despite all three of these bands being so different, I grew up listening to and loving every single one of them. And on top of everything, I partially credit the emo scene for my marriage 😂 met a band guy 10 years ago and that was that. RIP Warped Tour.
I'm the opposite lol. I've never had an emo phase
@@aetosia6490 did you grow up with Myspace? I find most people either went emo/metal or got into underground rap or both sometimes
@@julknowl yep agree 😅 almost 30 and I'm still in my emo "phase" 😅🙈
The people who called it a phase never really cared about the music to begin with, it was just fashion to them.
Awww this brings back so many memories, I feel so nostalgic. Please do more bands from the early 2000’s!! ☺️
I freaking LOVEEE Spencer, Underoath as a whole. Been following them for 14 years and have never stopped loving them, seen them multiple times and will go back to see them every time they come near me.

So my friend died in January, our bond was over Silverstein. One of our favorite memories we always would talk about is one time when we were at a show singing smile in your sleep at the top of our lungs. I don’t think of Silverstein without thinking of him. 🖤 I needed this. 🖤

I LOVE this so much!!!! Thank you. I’m fangirling right now.
So heartwarming when they talked about being happy to perform old songs. So many bands get angry about it, but he took it as a compliment.
You should interview popular 2000s bands like Yellowcard, fallout boy, the all American rejects, blink 182 bands like that. That would be bring me back my guy.
Please give this guy likes!!!
I can’t believe I almost missed this video! Another great one!
this was excellent thank you for this!
Emo to me is literally a state of being while listening to the music, whether it's My Chemical Romance to Under Oath to Panic! at the Disco. It's all a range of emotion in each band for each individual. I will always be emo. The community helps save lives.
Panic is not emo, Panic is painfully poppy glee-club kid music.
David Anderson Chill, I don’t think you read their first sentence. For the sake of discussion, would you say that someone who is emo can be emo while listening to bands that are not technically musically emo and does it matter?
