Thank you for tuning in to the live stream, I am glad you and the 8mo are enjoying! The equipment generally comes from recycling centers who sell "cable equipment" off. The equipment on its own does not work out of the box. It has taken us (a small team) to reverse engineer, and redesign the data system that "the weatherstar" works with. Thankfully we had some old engineers at TWC add some insight along the way to what they remember. We feel its worthy to preserve this equipment and keep it running than to let it fall into history and only remain as a faint memory.
The Weatherstar 4000 was physical hardware. It was not a PC nor a Mac. It was kind of similar to an Amiga but it was custom built for the Weather Channel. However, someone did write a Star 4000 Simulator that produces graphics similar to the Star 4000 and can run on a Mac: www.taiganet.com/. Click on the download link. However it does take some knowledge to configure it for your area. Read all documentation before asking a question on their forum.
Love it, thanks! 😀👍
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed!
How do you get all these and are able to change locations? My 8mo and I put your live streams on during the day for the ambience.
