    Roland is right on small towns and NAACP. I live in a small southern city and they are definitely the only body of freedom fighters we have!

      Brian Wilson it was my belief that time is based on Roland’s schedule and after sitting amongst people that say that something is irrelevant and are not “present and involved” why would you sit and waste your time any further. I appreciate how Roland breaks information down to get you to understand basically that your inactivity makes things irrelevant.

      +jerry cruz This is a radio station that has a predominantly black supporter base so he's just sharing positivity with the mainstream audience. Plus, if you actually listened to the interview, you might have picked up on some of the issues that black people face in America today in comparison to other races (white people) so there's nothing wrong with ethnic minorities uplifting their own race.. Don't take it personal

      ***** complaining .... Expressing dissastisfaction or annoyance about a state of affairs. If you don't like ehats going on take it up with your local chapter or start something yourself. Don't just sit behind a keyboard and complain. This generation is lazy and wants a quick fix it's so embarrassing.

      DanYiel Teflon it's sad because I see it all the time like we try to do so much around the community and no black people show up but quick to complain about the lack,of support.

      Noir Belle I'm from Eastern NC, and the Rev. William Barber is the head of the NC chapter of the NAACP, and he works extremely hard here in NC. He was just arrested yesterday protesting for health care here in NC. Roland was right about different leagues and committees doing different things in different states, and it's unfair to assume that those factions aren't working diligently in the community....

      Then on the flip side if these organizations go bye bye than when something racial happens and there is no organization that support black causes than blacks can't complain , blacks will support the NBA before they'll support The NAACP and that sad but they should be grateful whites don't kill all of them .

    I have some problems with the NAACP sometimes, but their not irrelevant. I thought we're about advancing our people, the NAACP is not a entertainer or ball player, they don't always have too be seen. Lot of people you see aren't actually doing the work, the NAACP doesn't have to twit, instagram, or snapchat everything they do. We as a society now are so caught up in everything has too be seen,we're a quick fix society, NAACP acts on local levels, if you want to know what they do look it up, before saying their irrelevant, and judge them from that.

    The one thing I do agree with if you have a problem do something. I graduated from an HBCU in City and Regional Planning from Morgan and also went to Michigan State for my undergrad. The only difference to me is the money. The alumni of these HBCU'S must give back if you give back 100 or 200 every 2 or 3 months it will help. I will make an effort to help out my HBCU

    • @PettyLabelle
      @PettyLabelle 7 років тому +6

      Long as you start making an effort you should be good. If your friends are doing the same thing as you pls encourage them to give back a couple of 100 dollars every 2 or 3 months would be helpful. You know the conditions of your HBCU so any amount can help them continue helping students for their future

      Demetrius Mixon - That’s what earlier touched on as to why they were relevant and effective in the 1960’s and not today. The ACLU receives the bulk of funding the NAACP use to receive. As long as any so-called black organization receives the bulk of their funding from whites will never be effective and free to fight our causes...

    Low alumni donation/support rates is a real issue.... I didn't even go to a HBCU, I went to a small private school that struggled to get support from many of the grads. It really hurts the institution. The Harvards, Yales and Notre Dames have millionaires to help their schools. Not the case for many schools.

      Tony Brown Roland is talking about economic empowerment and you want to derail the conversation by talking about a grown man playing with a puppet.

      DarkEpyon123 Dude please, Roland is an excellent brutha. He makes waves and he's on point when it comes to the economics and what we need to do as black people to try and stay afloat in a system that wasn't designed for us. Just making a joke and obviously you know what I'm talking about so relax with the chest all out.

    The NAACP was weak from the beginning. Opposed The Honourable Marcus Garvey, threw W.E. Dubois when he tried to implement a programme of self sufficiency. It goes on and on.

    Charlemagne needs to give himself and Envy "Donkey of the Day" for questioning what the NAACP is doing and for saying they don't see what the organization is doing lately. There is never a stupid question to ask, but my gosh. How dare you question the NAACP.
