    Watched your vids for a while now, from fellow dirt construction guy, get you a 12yd truck or more. Less trips for material is more skid time, which means more jobs per day which is more money per day.

      Super70challenger this is just a weekend thing, and don’t really sell dirt, we specialize more in heavy haul and end dump

    Really a pretty simple job that most people try to over-think. It looks good to me. Oh, and I'm jealous of your single axle dump truck.

    I think plate compacting the dirt in 4" lifts around the culvert during install would be a better way to ensure that the tube doesn't collapse when they drag in a double wide mobile home over it. Remember, those tracked machines only exert about 4psi on the ground, so rolling it back and forth isn't doing much. It would be better to scoop up a pile of dirt and back drag putting as much weight on the bucket as you can essentially trialing the ground smooth or rolling your full dump truck back and fourth across the culvert.

      ya he’s got good skills with a skid steer for sure, but should’ve compacted and also there’s not enough fill coverage on top.

    Pushing material with your bucket almost fully tilted down is a great way to break something or ware out tilt cylinders. There's play in the bucket already.

    Nice job! I have questions since on my way to install new gravel driveway to my home.
    1)How long is that culvert?
    2) how many tons of top soil for the culvert build up?( 4 loads in tons)
    3) How long did this job take (1 day?)
    4) 5th load gravel, is that #4 crushed asphalt?
    5) I noticed some Driveways culvert build up to ha e a bump, what is the function of that?
    6) How much a job like this take?

    • @Grtruckingdemolitionllc
      @Grtruckingdemolitionllc  3 роки тому

      20ft culvert, you need about 4/5 loads of dirt depending how deep the ditch is. Job took me 1/2hr to do. At the very top leave 4 inches of gravel/asphalt/or crushed concrete. Lots of people leave a bump on top because they don’t dig we’re the culvert goes. Correct way is to dig first so the culvert can be lower and that way the driveway comes out straight

      Blanton Enterprises I know man, ran out of grease and forgot to buy some, luckily someone I knew gave me one after I finished this job. I grease the entire machine once a week since I only used it 2/3 times a week. And the bucket and pistons 2/3 times daily depending how much I use it. I knew someone was going to comment about that I was just waiting for it lol 😂

      Grtruckingdemolition I can't stand to hear it squeak! Like nails on a chalkboard. When my machine does that I stop everything and grease it. Curious as to how you like the 259d? Thinking of changing to a track machine. Any input would be greatly appreciated. What's your likes and dislikes about it? Had any mechanical issues?

    • @Grtruckingdemolitionllc
      @Grtruckingdemolitionllc  4 роки тому

      Blanton Enterprises same here man, but when the job has to get done, I’ll get it done. So overall the 259 is great really like the 2 speed and how quick it is. Also controls very simple and visibility is great, I have used bobcat machines and John Deere but none like CAT you can see more to the front and sides. Cons would be sensors always have trouble with those. This is a 2015 and we have had to change the movement joystick twice, and also have replaced a track motor a couple months ago, $4,000 not cheap. But overall I feel like it’s a better machine than the competitors.

    Hey mate , just asking, is it better to use the skid steer with the hand accelerator or foot accelerator

  • @durangodave
    @durangodave 3 роки тому

    East Texas here, is dirt better than sand as a first load around the culvert. Also what about using caliche on top of the sand (or dirt), i have heard that is better than just dirt as it packs really hard. How many cu yards was that first load of dirt at 3:01 i have to do a culvert about the same width.

    • @Grtruckingdemolitionllc
      @Grtruckingdemolitionllc  3 роки тому +1

      To do it the right way is better to start with stabalized sand, then fill it with dirt and the last 6/8 inches of caliche/gravel.

      You need to refer to the manufacturers installation guide for the pipe you're installing. Not all pipes are created equal.

    Why are you putting topsoil on a driveway?

    • @Grtruckingdemolitionllc
      @Grtruckingdemolitionllc  4 роки тому

      James West that’s not top soil, should of been clay, but had lots of sand in it. And that is the only kind of dirt sold in the area.

    If it only takes 18 minutes to build a driveway and people make $ 7 per hour, then why does it cost $ 1,000 ?

      Each load of dirt is $150-200, plus equipment rental and a skilled hand to work the skid.

    I’m sorry but the fact you had grass and sod on the back side and never stripped the loam material is not professional I hope a inspector did not look at this
