  • This little CDC and deer hair emerger uses a turkey biot for the abdomen and partridge for the tail. A real quick tie for a great fish catching pattern. Visit my site thefeatherbender.com

Thanks Barry. Just tied this one from your book. Found my olive goose biots to be to short. Tied it with natural barred turkey biots instead.

Nice Mark, the natural barred Turkey are also very good for Vulgata mayflies.

@@Thefeatherbender I had some Cushings olive acid dye, so I cut off a chunk of the natural barred turkey biots and dyed them olive. Looks much better with an olive abdomen. Going to try these as a dry dropper from an Amy's Ant maybe and see how it goes here in Colorado.

2022. Great pattern. I do wish those excellent Natures Spirit biots were easier to find. They seem to be out of stock in many previous stockists.

As usual Barry a great looking fly and one that I will certainly try. One question though. What is the point of the CDC? It sits above the deer hair, so I can't see that it helps flotation. Would it not be better to include white or yellow to act as a sighter?

Hi Donald, thanks. Although the CDC sits above the deer hair it still improves the overall floatation of the pattern. The whole wing sits above the surface so you have no problem seeing it at a distance. But you could change the colour if you wish...

@@Thefeatherbender Thanks Barry, I have tied several now, and they do look the business. Soaking the biots on water for a few minutes

Helped reduce breakages and made wrapping easier.
