- If You want a full length video on how to make fondant, I do have one on here. It’s titled how to make four batches of find it in under 40 minutes. By Mimo. Check it out. Now here are some answers to a couple of concerns. The scholar I follow permits the use of gelatin because of the three acid washes that it goes through deeming it ok since it changes What it originally was. Yes I do tell my customers before they order. Many follow a similar scholar so they are OK with it. I can purchase the official halal ones, But one bag is triple the cost and I buy 12 bags at once. I’ve also tried making it before and the fondant turns out more rubbery so I don’t like it. Any hateful comments will be deleted.

…..She had me at making my own fondant but was more intrigued with the flavoring of not washing her hands and then working on the rabbit poop counter. 🤔 I got bat wings too but she ruined it by telling me to put oil on my hands and then didn’t slap it. Well damnit. Now rabbit poop flavored fondant is totally ruined.

I’ve made fondant more than a million times and can never seem to get it right. I’ve just realised it’s because I’ve never rubbed rabbit poo all over my counter. Can’t believe I missed the most important ingredient smh. Brb gonna go try

if it has a gummy texture it should! if it's not thick enough add agar powder and more powdered sugar

I sometimes forget that out of the middle east most of the marshmallows are not halal i live in Egypt so most to every thing/food
Most aren’t vegan/vegetarian either, unless they specifically are made for us, so no rice crispies for us😭

It's so weird! Marshmallows are literally sugar with whatever gelatin you want! Where I'm from, Marshmallows are NEVER made with bone gelatin
im vegetarian but i eat marshmallows because hey at least they arent wasting the extra bits, you know? At least they are using up the hooves and bones and stuff to make the gelatin instead of wasting it. Its not a big enough deal for me to stop eating them for me
I usually put a bowl of powdered sugar on the counter like they do with flour when making pasta, then put the marshmallows in the center. Love marshmallow fondant, I’m surprised I don’t eat it all before putting it on my cakes lol

I used to make fondant until I got arthritis and my fingers turned in. I was starting to get pretty good with my cakes but nothing like yours. I really wish I could have kept doing it. I’m only 42 but I guess we have to deal with what life throws at you. I would do love to make my grand baby’s first birthday cake but I really don’t see that happening 😕

Most people don't realize that disability takes more than a physical toll. I'm a wheelchair user who has never been able to go on real wilderness adventures with my kid because of my health. It's so hard to watch others do what you wish you still could. Sending you love and gentle hugs.
I am sorry to hear that. If you really want to make you grandchild cake would you be able to use a mixer instead and maybe pouring chocolate ganache as icing, would it still affect your fingers negatively?
Thank you all. My health may not be what it used to be but I will have to say that although I’m not able to work anymore and get the things I might want, I do have a roof over my head and food. My kids and grandchild are all healthy and the really help me a lot. So I do believe that I have a lot more that a lot of people. I really am blessed and I’m very thankful for what I have.

I have one of my best memories of cooking with my sister from when she tried to make homemade fondant. She was trying to make it in my grandma's house and didn't use enough of the shortening on the counter...
Sure enough, she began to struggle with this thing. Little 9 yr old me though I could do it, until my sticky hands and noodle arms put me out of the game. It basically became a strong man competition to get this fondant off of the counter. It was much so that we had 4 of my cousins and my older brother having to help her pry the confectionery equivalent of gorilla glue from my grandma's counter. It took us finally torching the edges of the damn sugary mass while pulling away to finally remove it from its parasitic bond to the kitchen counter...
The cake was lovely in the end, and my sister just buys fondant now

Be careful and make sure your friend follows the same advice/scholar she took. The Muslims here in Wisconsin don't eat Kroger marshmellows because of the pork it contains, even with the chemical washing. Just ask her if she follows that teaching.
There are many halal brands that have beef gelatine that we can use here. My household just uses vegan marshmellows because we can find it in a normal local organic store here. Ordering them is easy nowadays too if im at a place with no halal/vegan Marshmellows.

Whole Foods has vegan marshmallows that are halal and kosher, even for people who don’t believe the chemical washing on gelatin marshmallows makes them halal. When I make rice crispies it’s a safer bet for my Muslim and Jewish friends and works for me as a vegan 🥰
@@discogoth I'm not sure if meijers stores have reached Wisconsin but they usually carry Dandies vegan marshmallows. I haven't made fondant with them but I have bought them for a vegetarian friend when we had a cook out.
She refused to let me buy her the vegan/impossible burgers for the cook out, she brought her own so I got sneaky and bought vegan marshmallows for the smores. Guess what no one knew they were not plain old marshmallows and everyone enjoyed so they are worth the price for loved ones.
I think they are made with agaragar which is a seaweed.

There’s no excuse to use this marshmallow with pork gelatin. It’s 2023 there are halal marshmallows that have beef gelatin and there are vegan marshmallows too! The scholar you follow is wrong. Plain and simple.

the chemical rule does not apply to pig gelatine
@@xoxohayaati there's beef or fish gelatin and also non-animal versions: agar agar, carageenan, pectin, guar bean gum, arrowroot and cornstarch

@@malenaqueen7733 the enzyme chemical changes apply to beef and perhaps other animals that would be permissible to eat their meat should it have been slaughtered the halal way. however, the rule does not apply to enzymes of pig since it would be forbidden to eat the meat regardless.
i don’t use this the enzyme ruling for any food besides cheese though bc there’s been hadith mentioning that cheese should be enjoyed from anyone.

This has given me flashbacks of when two friends and I were trying to make marshmallow fondant and how we had to awkwardly explain to one of my friends' mom how the three of us idiots, the counter, a bowl, the Crisco, a bag of powdered sugar, a mountain of hot marshmallow goo, the microwave, and a butter knife got glued together. It took a while to get any assistance out of her because she was laughing too hard.
