I do admit that I personally think Super Mario Galaxy has better music. I only say that because the only music that I find inspirational in Odyssey is the Cascade Kingdom music whereas multiple galaxies in SMG have great music such as Good Egg Galaxy, Gusty Garden Galaxy, Mushroom Kingdom (AKA Grand Finale Galaxy), Space Junk Galaxy, Sweet Sweet Galaxy, Beach Bowl Galaxy, Gateway Galaxy and Bowser's Galaxy Generator in addition to the music during Rosalina's story. Don't get me wrong. Both games are so much fun and my favorites, but I guess all I was saying was Super Mario Odyssey places more emphasis on POP music whereas Super Mario Galaxy is more legit music. Both are good depending on which I am in the mood for. And I think Cascade Kingdom music is the most similar to Galaxy music that Odyssey has because i feel the instrumentation of that one is similar to Good Egg Galaxy and Gusty Garden Galaxy's music.

The SMG references in Odyssey that I noticed: The regional coins of the moon kingdom are purple star bits Captain Toad and the Toad Brigade are in the game Yoshi's flutter jump sounds are reused from Galaxy 2 The health meter has 3-6 lives The jingle when the Odyssey powers up is a remix of the jingle when you get a new power up in Galaxy The water system is the same as Galaxy's The undrground theme is a remix of Mario Galaxy's arrangement of the theme (the slow one use in 3d games only + Mario Maker 2) which is mainly a remix of the underground theme from Super Mario Bros
