    ALBANY-RENSSELAER, NY: It's August 1983. After Amtrak's Adirondack surrenders its F40PH (#340), we ride in the cab of FL9, piloted by Trainman Henry Christopher, for a high speed run southbound to beautiful and historic Poughkeepsie station.
    Scenes along the way include two meets with Turboliners, one of which is at the Hudson station stop, and New York Central's beautiful signal system.

    Whew! That guy had that puppy going nearly 100 mph. Fastest I've ever seen on an FL9. Impressive. Easily equal to the turboliners which could barely top 100. Fastest I've seen on the turbos was 101.

      @@EDOTrains My Dad was up in Albany back in the 80s. He ran the Adirondack. I would love to see all the footage. Wonder if 345 or 348 is in one of them

      @@robertv.briscoejr.4816 This is all the footage we have from this trip. Did you see the part with the engineer? A Google search of that engineer's name came up with a forum post that named the other Adirondack engineer. I can't remember what year the forum post was ref'ing.

    Greetings from California! Did VHS Camcorders started to exist during the late 1970s based on the Cameras during broadcast like at the 1976 Daytona 500 and the TV Shows What’s Happening & Good Times or did they start to exist in 1980?

      not sure, but this was good ol' Betamax, not VHS

      Early 1980s. Professionally made TV shows weren’t shot on VHS camcorders, lol.

    What hype of horn is that? A K5LA?

    • @EDOTrains
      @EDOTrains  4 роки тому +5

      should be. Was pretty standard on American-built Amtrak stuff, post-1975

      It's a wide font K5LA, completely different (and much better!) tuning than the modern raised letter K5LA you hear on most stuff nowadays.
