I've always loved how when he talks about if someone were to take his daughter, how he'd track them down. his whole perspective changed when he heard he had a little girl. And that look on his face when he touches her hands, like she's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen. I love moments like that.
Micaela Bertrand I guess by Millie having a girl was suppose to teach Adam a lesson about what's it like to kidnap someone. I wonder if Millie had a baby boy how would Adam feel

I always thought the Adam's meeting his daughter for the first time was the logical conclusion to his regretting kidnapping the girls. He decides to make things right and to take the girls back to their families.
amin sadeghpour He actually says that. He says he got to thinking about the baby while he was up at the cabin. How he’d feel if someone came along and took her away in the night, he’d find them and string him up for it. It made him realize what he did was wrong and the girls needed to go back to their families.
Clever move by the director putting Jane Powell on the stairs for that kiss to make the scene flow more easily. Howard Keel was 6'4" while Jane Powell was only 5'1" so she needed a platform to stand on.
Fun fact about the wardrobe of Millie and the girls - the studio was such a tightwad about the budget on this film (they were throwing all their money on their production of "Brigadoon", which bombed at the box office) the crew of 7B7B went scrounging around second hand stores for old quilts, which were then used for the dresses Millie and the girls wore in the movie.
Howard Keel was so good in this scene. The way he said Hannah's name the first time was both a pronouncement and a benediction. And he and Jane Powell kissed like they meant it at the end. I bought it completely. Sigh!
Hannah's face after inspecting his fingers "You'll do. You weren't very nice to my mummy, but you'll do". I guess so long as she doesn't start wailing at the sight of him it's a good sign. Besides, if she's anything like either of her parents she'll insist on having a say on whether or not they get to actually be her parents, if that makes any sense.
For all those great, energetic musical numbers...this is a deeply sweet movie. With a lot to say about faith, loyalty and love. Milly and Adam are the center pins of course, but those brothers and brides are wonderful!!
Early on, as they are driving home to the house for the first time, Adam tells Millie that there's a trunk in the attic, and 'if she's handy with a needle.." So later in the film, she and the girls have been sewing since Adam left to go up to the cabin. They all look lovely with curtains on the windows, pillows, and the pretty little crib blankets for soon-to-be-named Hannah..
@@dirgniflesuoh7950 When they made the movie they apparently purchased several old quilts from a thrift store and remade them into dresses for the girls. I guess you can work wonders on a limited budget :)

"Some name like Hannah or Hagar or Hephzibah"
My dad would always say "Oh thank god he picked Hannah" xD

Well at least Adam came to his senses and came back and Saw he was worng!
There is also a very emotional scene where Howard Keel's character meets his daughter for the first time in Showboat. Strange coincidence!

That baby would be 67-68 years old now, probably with grandchildren of her own!
She would now be nearly 70.
Although adam made a serious mistake in plotting his brothers to kidnap the girls he is obviously very sorry for what he did.
Beautiful scene.
The best part of the movie.
