Musiciens figés ? Pourtant exceptionnels, tellement relax !
Great job on the videos, sir. Thank you!! You may not understand the words of the song, but the tune is what strikes the soul. This group of talented individuals is top notch, in my humble opinion. Your videos have shared this with the world, & we Thank you for it.
Unbelievable! Great video of the Tuba Skinny band interspersed, in the video, relaxing with Erika Lewis' and her cute son 1:08, and 1:53 Tuba Skinny band members 2:14, 2:41, during the performance! Erika Lewis' vocals are perfect as always1
Salud de Lanaudiere Quebec ..ab fab !! merci pour vos efforts dans la production de ce clip video. merveillieux de voir le group hors de la scene...( 'scuse the typos.. don't have a French keyboard set up) These folks rule..!
Can a band get any less affected and pretentious? Shaye must be a hell of a bandleader. It is almost impossible to keep a group of musicians this large together for a decade. Perhaps it helps that they play instruments like clarinet, sousaphone, trombone, and washboard. It's not like they're going to get an offer from Beyonce. Still, I wonder how she does it. The sound person did a great job, with a mike on the sousaphone. Kudos!!!
Cuba Skinny band members share a musicality that no other band or group or so-called singer can match or even get near to - 'tis a privilege for me to be able to listen to them on my UA-cam feed
And my dear...regarding your remark, "its not like they're going to get an offer from Beyonce."---, my dear, and it's not like they would ever, ever, even consider it.. let alone take it. You see, this is music, not a recording of processed auto tuned remixed recorded and re processed and dubbed not layers of recordings nothing here is fake nothing here is controlled by a series of machines before it reaches the audiences ears...this, is called music and singing, there are not nets, no pre recorded tapes to play no lip syncing no machines to autotune a bum note no screens with words and notes no cheat sheets...no do overs...and although they have each the beautiful gift of music, they can play more than one instrument, and they also mastered those instruments as well, along with the history and dedication to this era of music, their motivation is not glam and fitting into anyone's idea of who or what they are, they are not attention SEEKING NARCISSISTS although by today's idea of "artists" tuba skinny makes those "artists" look like pre school finger painters. So although they have mastered the beauty of an orchestra they have really dedicated themselves to respecting every single musician and singer that came before them and studied long and hard about the best way to go about honoring and respecting their musicianship and artistry...I am not alone when I say their humility graciousness and generosity speaks volumes regarding their good character and refinement. Have a beautiful evening.
@@tamarakennedy4976 Your passionate defense of the band is admirable. But certainly there was no intent to disparage the musicianship here, which is of course exceptional. The post was primarily a paean to Shaye. There's a huge amount of behind the scenes effort required to keep a band together, along with a great interpersonal touch. She clearly has these in addition to her prodigious musical talent. The point about Beyonce (who I'm certain hires superlative musicians) is just that these days, gigs for drummers and guitarists are more common than gigs for washboard players and sousaphonists. I spent much of my life as a travelling professional musician. Here's a very old joke: What's the difference between a chicken and a trombonist crossing the road? Answer: The chicken is going to a gig. These guys, under Shaye's leadership, have managed to make a success of traditional jazz, which is astonishing.
Shaye's is a helluva talent and the defacto "leader ... but what a pallet to work with ! They are VERY much a coop, love this music and have much input. And in fact, Erika does a bunch of the booking, etc. They ARE really unassuming and friendly folks .. got to meet them helping to bring them into Philly Aug. 2019 ... ... 2020 was on the our schedule .............
@@87sailorgirl Good for Erika! She also has a writing credit for "Six Feet Down," my favorite number. Let's also not overlook how unusual it is for women to make a success of jazz. I presume the quarantines are really hurting their gigs, so fingers crossed they survive both healthwise and financially.
