Odd that Mr Lillywhite doesn't have anything to say about Keith Richards' guitar sound. The key to Keith's sound is that he uses an open G tuning with the low E string removed. Also rather staggering that there is no discussion of Mr Lillywhite's work with XTC.
Mr. Lillywhite really needs a book. I admire s much of his work. Generally his productions are his artists best work. I was expecting in this interview a mumbling Phil Spector type but instead he seems florid, expansive, salty and utterly unaffected. I am impressed and wish I knew more
To dream.. Having a producer the caliber of Mr Lillywhite to mold and produce my music..

As much as I wanted to be a rock star when I was younger and in high school, I really wanted to be Steve Lillywhite. Such a genius.

I love Steve's amazing history (Sex Pistols, earlier U2 etc....) and his passion for music in general!
Dave Matthews was the most fun he had
