The greatest thing that ever happened to the prequel's story was the addition on Asohka and how her relation to Anakin and everything that happens to her and the role the jedi play on it during the Clone Wars finally makes Anakin fall into the dark side make sense.
@@DakonBlackblade2 Anakin's downfall still makes sense without The Clone Wars but I think the Clone Wars just strengthens that down fall and fills in the gaps between Episodes 2 and 3 to help to really show how Anakin became the way he was. In 3 taking his off screen development at face value works but TCW really strengthens that development and enriches it. To me his downfall just becomes extra heartbreaking with the addition of TCW.
Yet Obi-Wan takes the exact same approach every time by chastising and talking down to him instead of changing courses. Some of the blame lies with him, too. He likely wasn't ready to take on a Padawan so soon.
fun fact: Jangos head actually fell out as the helmet was falling, you can even see the shadow of it flying off in the same scene that the helmet falls to the gowned. So Boba was just holding the helmet not the head (This was also confirmed by George Lucas as well)

So many people that dislike the prequels seem to miss this point, and I think it’s clear Holden doesn’t like the prequels too much especially after the fact he points out what he doesn’t like in this movie which is like of annoying.
I love how unafraid Jen is to call this one her favorite so far. My favorite changes daily. I was cheering when she said it, because it seemed like she knew it was not a popular opinion. I didn't know what she was going to potentially disappoint me with, but I was so relieved & excited to hear love for this movie. Other commenters have said it better, but I admire Jen's ability to see past the cheesiness of Star Wars & appreciate the good. The Star Wars fandom could really use more of what you've got, Jen. Can't wait for Episode III & the sequel trilogy!

I actually agree with her. When I first watched AOTC, I thought Anakin's actions were understandable. Jedi aren't security guards, they solve problems. Everytime Obi Wan screws up, Anakin cleans it up for him minus the finale. I think Holden is being quite unfair to Anakin. He was 9 when he entered the Jedi Order. He was not indoctrinated into numbing his feelings. He's basically a child soldier without the proper emotional brainwashing and given a teacher that he can easily surpass.
The ideas behind the story and the way Hayden Christensen was able to emote so well through his physical performance is phenomenal. He gets a hard time of no fault of his own in my opinion. The blame lays squarely on the script as far as I'm concerned. I love the tension, frustration akd feelings of obligation between Anakin and Obi-Wan. It's such an interesting relationship. My only real complaint about the Anakin/Obi-Wan dynamic in this movie focuses too much on the conflict and largely fails to convey the whole "he was a good friend" part that Ben was going on about with Luke decades later. Thankfully the shows really do a great job of truly fleshing out the brotherly bond between them and how the tension in the begrudging father/ungrateful son dynamic gave way to something more friendly and affectionate when they became true brothers in arms, and there's good reason to believe Lucas intended to flesh out the story in a show for a good while, but it just doesn't do the overall story in the films in amd of themselves any favors to almost entirely forego showing their actual friendship until the final chapter.

I had put off watching the cartoon for several years but glad that I relented. @Hunterkiller1440 , I can agree with Anakin's motivations for his actions as well, when he isn't able to separate the personal connections it makes him even more rash than usual. That's one of the reasons that the Jedi frowned upon personal involvements and marriages, because it could be used against them, and was a divisive distraction of loyalties.

I gotta say, the reason why Anakin is so rebellious and impatient is a direct result of his training starting so late. Yoda and the rest have already said it before. He's too old. And the fact that they did the exact same training regiment as the younglings up until he became a Jedi Knight fed his ego before he had a chance to learn discipline and temperance.
This is partly correct. A big factor that contributed to Anakin's teenage angst and rebellion is the fact that his master was supposed to be Qui-Gon, not Obi-Wan. He and Obi-Wan were closer in age and saw each other as brothers, which would have made it harder for Anakin to be okay with taking orders from him. Qui-Gon, however, was the father figure that Anakin always needed and sought. Qui-Gon's unorthodox teaching methods were what was needed to train an unorthodox pupil like Anakin. This is why their relationship is so important in TPM, because it was meant to show that Anakin COULD have been a functional Jedi had he gotten the right guidance. Qui-Gon was basically the ideal Jedi, following the will of the Force instead of concerning himself with the norms of the Jedi Council. And in the EU, at least, Anakin actually breezed through all the Jedi training, which served to further isolate him from his peers, who simply couldn't keep up and ended up resenting him; he really was being held back because the Order still forced him to stay on the same level as everyone else. He was actually more talented than Obi-Wan, which added to the former's frustration, since he felt he'd already surpassed his master in skill, and this also contributed to Anakin's rebelliousness, recklessness, and arrogance.

Clones has some cringy dialogue but I agree it's super entertaining and watchable and it actually feels like a star wars movie. I think it's totally underrated. Also John Williams goes off in this movie.
Judging by her reaction to this, I expect ROTS to be her favorite. I'm glad she enjoyed AOTC it's underated imo, especially if you watch the Clone Wars it really does set up one of the best storylines in Star Wars.

Anakin was born a slave and did what he could to get himself free. He didn't really "sign up" for the jedi order. Qui-gon saw his potential in the force and kinda "forced" him into it, at least from my perspective.
As a minor he cannot choose. The Jedi were all about child trafficking. His "mother" did give consent for him to go though. But I doubt any court in that galaxy would accept her story about there being no father. So, we are back to child trafficking and indoctrination.

Jovan Milovac obi wan does say “why do I sense we’ve picked up yet another useless life form” his first thoughts about anakin before meeting him so I guess their relationship at the start during his training may have been rocky in comparison to how it might’ve been with Qui Gon
im not sure whether its still canon but there's also the whole thing where he was actually held back in his training as a youngling/padawan because he was so much more naturally gifted than his peers. He breezed through training despite joining the order late, which made a lot of his peers resent him. he didn't have a lot of friends as a result. the council also deliberately held him back to appease the pupils/teachers who didn't like how cocky he was and to also try and teach him some humility. unfortunately it backfired and he only ended up resenting the order for holding him back even though he could have breezed through the trials and he was definitely at Jedi master level by episode 3. he's one of the most powerful Jedi in the order at that point
They actually didn’t use as much CGI as people think, they still used a lot of practical effects in this movie. Of course you need CGI for the big clone scenes but the landscapes where miniatures that were hand made, I’d recommend watching the documentary on these, it is really interesting how much actually went into it.
I always loved this movie because of all the jedi revealed fighting. We rarely get to see the side character jedi ever doing anything besides in Clone Wars

This was my most disappointing aspect of Yoda in the prequals. I always felt he was so strong in the force as a master, that he wouldn't NEED a light saber.

My biggest disappointment of the prequels was abandoning the principles Yoda himself taught us in the original trilogy. "You will know when you are calm, at peace. Passive. A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack." And what does Yoda do? Use the force to attack Dooku. So, what would I expect? Yoda, strong in the force, slowly walks up to Dooku. Dooku, swinging madly at him and throwing things from around the room. Yoda, side stepping and using the force to deflect blows. Taking his crutch, and using it to trip Dooku with no force aggression. Then climbing up on his chest and smacking him in the head with his cane. That would have been epic and showed his true power of the force as a Jedi should. Not the lame rabid weasel flipping around the room.

If you look at the scene right after Mace cuts his head off you can clearly see how Lucas made that one shot to help see the shadow of his head flying Off his helmet. I’m surprised how many people always say his head still in there but it’s not. Ps. This one is very easy to be critical about. Objectively speaking it’s a bad movie. Poorly acted, poorly scripted, it’s just not good. But she liked it. Not many liked it when it came out in movie theaters I can tell you that for sure.

The Mandalorian is the Star Wars media that’s pushing the boundaries of filmmaking. That tech is amazing
Anakin was born a slave and did what he could to get himself free. He didn't really "sign up" for the jedi order. Qui-gon saw his potential in the force and kinda "forced" him into it, at least from my perspective.
As a minor he cannot choose. The Jedi were all about child trafficking. His "mother" did give consent for him to go though. But I doubt any court in that galaxy would accept her story about there being no father. So, we are back to child trafficking and indoctrination.
Yeah kinda agree. But if Qui Gon Jin was alive, I think he would've been like a father to Anakin. In TPM he had a good relationship with Anakin, so that's why I think he would've been a better master to Anakin.

im not sure whether its still canon but there's also the whole thing where he was actually held back in his training as a youngling/padawan because he was so much more naturally gifted than his peers. He breezed through training despite joining the order late, which made a lot of his peers resent him. he didn't have a lot of friends as a result. the council also deliberately held him back to appease the pupils/teachers who didn't like how cocky he was and to also try and teach him some humility. unfortunately it backfired and he only ended up resenting the order for holding him back even though he could have breezed through the trials and he was definitely at Jedi master level by episode 3. he's one of the most powerful Jedi in the order at that point
They actually didn’t use as much CGI as people think, they still used a lot of practical effects in this movie. Of course you need CGI for the big clone scenes but the landscapes where miniatures that were hand made, I’d recommend watching the documentary on these, it is really interesting how much actually went into it.

Peacekeepers are not pacifists. The jedi needed to assist the clones as they turned the tide of the battle. If jedi completely remove themselves from violent situations, evil wins. You conveniently forgot obi wan and yoda trying to manipulate luke into killing vader.

This was my most disappointing aspect of Yoda in the prequals. I always felt he was so strong in the force as a master, that he wouldn't NEED a light saber.

My biggest disappointment of the prequels was abandoning the principles Yoda himself taught us in the original trilogy.

And what does Yoda do? Use the force to attack Dooku.
So, what would I expect? Yoda, strong in the force, slowly walks up to Dooku. Dooku, swinging madly at him and throwing things from around the room. Yoda, side stepping and using the force to deflect blows. Taking his crutch, and using it to trip Dooku with no force aggression. Then climbing up on his chest and smacking him in the head with his cane.
That would have been epic and showed his true power of the force as a Jedi should. Not the lame rabid weasel flipping around the room.

If you look at the scene right after Mace cuts his head off you can clearly see how Lucas made that one shot to help see the shadow of his head flying Off his helmet. I’m surprised how many people always say his head still in there but it’s not.

The story in "attack of the clones" isn't bad it just the dialogue that makes it hard to watch.

This one is very easy to be critical about. Objectively speaking it’s a bad movie. Poorly acted, poorly scripted, it’s just not good. But she liked it. Not many liked it when it came out in movie theaters I can tell you that for sure.

What’s good about it exactly? The acting? The story? The special effects? It’s a terrible movie honestly. Terribly reviewed when it came out. Despised by the Fanbase. People love to try to rewrite history on the prequel’s. They are not good. Jesus Christ people hated episode one so much actors nearly committed suicide due to all the criticism. That’s fact.
