This was Iron Maiden appearing on TV to promote the 1st album in late 1980 (It was lip-synced)... Adrian Smith (guitar) had just replaced the previous guitarist Dennis Stratton (who played on the 1st Maiden record)... Paul Di'Anno (vocals) said he wrote the lyrics to 'Remember tomorrow' about his grandfather, who passed away... The studio version is longer than what the clip showed on the program (I think it was in W. Germany) Iron Maiden was conceived as a local band in London back in 1975 by bassist Steve Harris, who started writing his own songs, but the band he was in found them 'complicated'... He formed Iron Maiden so he could perform his songs live. The band went thru a lot of members between 1975 til 1979... Dave Murray (guitar) had joined in 1976, but was permanently reinstated in 1977... lead singer Paul Di'Anno also joined in 1977. In 1979, Iron Maiden was finally signed by EMI Records in the UK, just as Dennis Stratton (guitar) joined and Clive Burr (drums) replaced the previous drummer Doug Sampson... and they recorded the 1st Iron Maiden album that charted in the UK top 10 in 1980. Iron Maiden spent the year touring, and Dennis Stratton was fired in the fall of 1980 due to "musical differences"... Adrian Smith (guitar) joined and the band recorded the 2nd album 'Killers' in 1981 w/ producer Martin Birch. The success of their records in Europe brought Maiden to Japan and N. America for the first time... However, Maiden's relentless touring schedule wore out vocalist Di'Anno by the fall on '81. Former Samson vocalist Bruce Dickinson joined Maiden and recorded their 3rd album 'The number of the beast' in 1982 which hit #1 in the UK charts and went platinum in the US (1 million copies sold). Drummer Clive Burr was replaced in 1983 by drummer Nicko McBrain, and that line-up dominated the 80's (w/ Dickinson, Murray, Smith and Harris) starting w/ the 'Piece of mind' album that year... 'Powerslave' was the 5th album that made Iron Maiden global stars in 1984.
This is off their first self-titled album. It remains one of my favorite Iron Maiden albums. While Bruce will forever be my preferred Maiden singer (and its not close), Paul deserves a ton of credit. If it had not been for the personal "demons" in his early Maiden days, Paul might well still be the singer today. Not sure they would have had as much success with Paul (as many LOVE Bruce), but it sure would be fun to know what kind of music they would have gone on to do with Paul, whether they would have remained punkish or gone the way they did. Still, the important thing is that you got to experience the early times of Maiden, Randi!! Happy to see that you enjoyed it!
For the raw heavy and almost punk metal, there is no doubt for me that Paul Di'anno's voice is perfect. On the other hand, Bruce Dickinson's voice is much more suited to the more melodic sound. Also, for the best live version of this song, please give a listen to the live album A Real Dead Live One. For me, it is a statement that heavy metal rock is not "just noise" like some people say. I find it interesting how you explain the changes in rhythm and nuances of the songs you react to. Awesome job and please keep reacting to Iron Maiden. Kind regards and stay safe.
Great job! I know I am in the minority, but I much prefer the singing of Paul Di'Anno from the first couple of Maiden albums, which I think were a lot less cliche and more interesting than Bruce Dickinson's vocals. Also, the songwriting was a lot more hooky and again was more original in those first two albums.
Iron Maiden's first album is still one of my favorites. While Bruce is my favorite, Paul Di'Anno was amazing on this album. He gives a good representation of his range throughout the album with punk, metal and even the "clean" singing that he does here. I never liked the Killers album that much, but I still think Paul was an amazing singer that many bands would LOVE to have singing.
Wow! They sound like Lovebites, an all-female metal band out of Japan who sing in English and who shred better than most all-male metal bands. No joke! You should react to Lovebites, if haven’t yet already. If you do your channel will literally be invaded by the Wolfpack. Here’s a good starting introduction to Lovebites ua-cam.com/video/bgAxpEpEcno/v-deo.html

Might be my favourite maiden song 😔

It is a bit longer it looks like it's been cut.
There is another verse, the video was cut off too soon. Paul Dianno is awesome i really like the first two maiden albums before they hired Dickenson.
This song is about Paul's grand father dying

I slightly prefer Di’Anno’s vocals, but I much prefer the composition of the songs on the first two albums. They were both legendary.
@@langdalepaul , correct on all counts!

The rainbow show version is much much better than this one!
