Hi, i am new to go karting, and bristol is my local track. I searched for some videos to observe lines and possibly reference points and am embarrassingly stuck in the high 45s lap times 😬😂. However as a result of searching for some tips i came across your channel, i have become passionate about go karting as a result of your videos and have as a result gone go karting a few more times. I think that it is amazing how you go around the different tracks you go to so fast and so consistently, especially bristol as i could not imagine myself going around it so fast 😂. I was just possibly hoping for some advice or tips on how to lower my lap times, maybe get into 42s lap times or even the low 41s, however i do realise this may be more challenging than i hope 😂. This is a great video, keep up the hard work, you have earnt youself a new subscriber!
Ive achieved high 38 second- low 39s laptimes here, you really have to carry speed around the corners and use the steering wheel as minimal as possible, keeping it smooth as you can, using the accelerator pedal to steer the kart around instead of being aggressive on the steering which also kills your speed. Accelerate early as you can without understeering wide or oversteering. Its a fine balance but when you get it, you’ll feel the progression.
@@ashmeister5599 thank you, I will definetly be attempting this when I next go, my problem is being too aggressive on the steering really, as whenever I try to go fast I just find myself spinning out but thank you I will definetly be putting these tips to good use!
It’s really good that you’re looking to go down more often to improve and that you’re enjoying it as that’s the main thing! Ash has given some really good tips which will help a lot and with the new karts being mostly equal, it will be easier to gauge your progress. As Ash has said, being smooth and carrying as much speed through the corners is the most important thing at this track and any other track you go to. The brake pedals are really sensitive at the moment and you don’t have to press them anywhere near as hard as you would expect to slow down. Try to find the limit of the brakes where you can slow down without locking up the rear tyres and try to get back on the power as early as you can. This will allow you to carry more speed through the corners. I would also suggest coming to a Members Social Event on Monday’s if you can because you will see the way quicker people drive. You can follow them and pick up a lot more, which is what I did when I first started and it helped so much! I’ll be bringing out an updated lap guide with the new karts next week, that will break each corner down a little bit and will hopefully help too. Really appreciate the kind words and the comment, I hope to see you down there at some point 🫶🏾
@BenPaines thanks Ben for kind words 😁 I need to get myself down for a members night soon, hope to see you down there at some point! Watching your vids has also helped me a lot, I'm also good friends with Andreas who has helped me learn the track a bit more too!
@@BenPaines Thank you, I am planning to go Monday, although not a members event, just a regular session but I will definetly try what you and Ash have said and I look forward to the lap guide. Thank you.
I’m glad you had a good time, I really enjoyed this event as it felt like it levelled things out a lot and it was more down to driver skill! I appreciate it a lot Nick thank you! 🙌🏾
Looked great mate such a hotbed of talent down in Bristol BIKC must be a nightmare as most are in SRK also would pay to watch the bikc event there and good to see my mate Jason ford going well we’ve had many Srk d Final chats top guy 👍🏻great vid as ever mate see you at your favourite track castle Combe soon 😜😎
Was a really fun event, a lot of talented drivers came down for this one which just added that extra challenge to it 😅 The BIKC is always very competitive at Bristol, MWs in particular have 7/8 drivers that could all easily fill the top 6 spots. Jason is a Bristol legend too, single-handedly keeps the place running 😉 Can’t wait for Castle Combe, hoping to stomp out some demons there… I look forward to seeing you there mate and it means a lot as always! 😇
This looks like it was quite interesting and fun. I'm curious about the other Thursday race formats since I've only been to two so far one of which was cancelled as you probably remember and the other being grid series from yesterday which was also quite fun.
This was a really fun event, the lads coming over from Cardiff was a great addition to mix things up a bit. Usually there are a few different formats, including hour long races or multiple heat races. It really does depend on the week.

Thank you Sam! 🙌🏾
what is the lap record?
I believe it’s a 35.5 at the moment from my memory.
