GETTING SOME REDEMPTION! | Daytona Superchamps - N35 | Daytona Tamworth (Dec 21st 2024)
Here we have some footage from our final outdoor event of 2024, heading up to Daytona Tamworth to take on the final Superchamps round. This was a really fun little event, and a great way to round out the year. Luckily, there was a stark contrast in the result from the last time we came up here to have a go in the DMAX karts. As always, I hope you guys enjoy the video!

Thank you very much Mr Gaskell! 🙌🏾
I mean yeah, the guy way being a hit of a dick most of the race. But your divebomb on the inside at 2:30 was pretty shitty. Don’t stoop to their level like that
My local trackk, been going for a few months but struggling to find grip esp on the long corner before the straight, any tips?
Have been going down a lot recently and found it to be really slippery with not too much grip. Main thing that I find helps is if you feel the kart going a bit all over the place, just lift off of the throttle a little bit and try to guide it back around towards the back straight!
@BenPaines yess that defo helps, js went today
@vibinq Good stuff, I’m glad it helps, I hope you had a good time!
Key to the bottom floor is to do senna style, slam your foot on the accelerator and couple times so you can get more grip and be very aggressive on the turn in. My pb is a 36.6 cus of these little things
Nice stuff Callum, I’ll give these a go if I ever head over again to the track in the future, it’s a fun track for sure!
I know I’m late but I remembered something, the day before this I asked James during the joker briefing if there was a red flag but you was already in the pit would it count? His exact words were “if you already pit before it went red it would count and you would be allowed to go to the end of the pit as you are not on track so track rules don’t matter in the pit” telling you they changed their own rules this year as it went along
Yeah I remember hearing this somewhere as well, it’s just such a shame as the whole event was just a bit sour for everyone involved really and it ruins what is Teamsport’s spectacle event of the year…
These punks are too immature to be driving go karts! What a bunch of cry babies!
Only one… and it did make me laugh under my helmet a bit to be fair 😅
1:45 Rapes your rear end loading *rages* Also what was that all about at 2:23, love how everyone is laughing at him
Yeah didn’t make much sense to me… Think on the side they were all pushing me to get back past again rather than laughing at him to be honest
Big up my man Saul the real BIKC winner and Ben you should’ve been on that podium I’ll try an make sure they lock up kart 40 so you don’t have to see it again 😂😂😂
Mr Saul was definitely flying along, but please make sure that 40 gets put out of action for life 🥲🫡
Looked fun that mate and that was a top drive 👍🏻👏🏻
Had an absolute blast, the race was a lot of fun. Bit disappointed with the result but happy with how I was driving; onwards to next year! 📈
Great drive Ben, looked very slippery, i think i would have spun 10 times if i tried to race in that 😂. I think you did very well, just a bit of a shame that happened to u at the start as i think you would have been able to finish higher but overall i think you drove very well, with some good overtakes.
Thank you so much Katie, it was definitely a bit of a tricky one but it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. I’m sure you would’ve been okay, there was a lot more grip on this track compared to some others 😅 Was honestly really happy with how I drove, think I got a bit unlucky at the start and then pushed a bit too hard for the second spin… Really happy with the pace and overtakes, so all things ready to take into next year! 💪🏾
hi ben! I do Race Academy here in Teamsport Bristol, my fastest lap right now is a 40.101, is there any chance you might be able to do a winter track guide to help me improve my time? Thanks, and keep up the great videos, Matthew :)
Hi Matthew, my last time down at the track would be in the video from 10 days ago on my channel. If you take a look at that one, you may be able to find yourself a bit of time. I don’t actually head down to Bristol too much at the moment and I’m certainly by no means extremely quick there at the moment, so I don’t think I would have the best idea to make a full lap guide for winter unfortunately. However, you are setting some good times at the moment, just try to get in the track consistently and you’ll find those lap times coming down with the seat time! :)
@@BenPaines Alright Ben, I’ll take a look at the latest video at Teamsport Bristol, and I’ll see where I can improve. again, thank you so much for providing great content for beginners to karting like me, it helps to learn from professionals like you how I can improve my karting! Keep up the great content, I’ll stay tuned for your future videos, Matthew :)
It’s not a problem, more than happy to help, I am by no means a professional but I really do appreciate the kind words! Consistency and track time is always the biggest factor for improving in my experience so the more you can get down there, the quicker you will get! :)
That Jack guy clearly got a quick kart 🙄
Jack is an amazing driver but his kart did seem on another level for this one, especially over 30 minutes 🙃

Air bourne that’s decent mate 😂but the move on my mate mr ford fellow tubby club member was dodgy ish imo BIKC penalty for that I think 😉😉🤣but if your not trying to pass your not a racer etc so fair play for going for the gap as you normally do 😃🤷♂️👊🏻🤣
Was definitely not expecting to be flying on this evening 😭 Mr Ford loves the divebombs, this was definitely on the limit but considered a clean move in the eyes of the marshals 😌 Appreciate it as always Wayne, will always go for those gaps 🥰
Honestly so glad you guys we're okay from that, I legit crapped myself seeing that right next to me!

They had a really nice turn of speed about them, it was a lot of fun, definitely so much quicker than the 4 strokes. I bet you used to have an absolute blast, these are definitely a nice way to compare the speed rush 😅
@BenPaines We did mate, always smiling. We'd find mud in places only my biology teacher knew the name of. Definitely need to try the 2stroke carts. Only downside is its a 3hour drive from me. Might book a weekend away n do some touristy things 🤔
Sounds absolutely perfect to me! Definitely would recommend going down and giving it a go, I think you’ll have a great time! It’s not too far from Birmingham for example so you could always make a nice weekend from it as you say! 🙌🏾
@BenPaines They were tbf, no cares in the world just a jerry can of petrol, 2stroke oil n some food n drink 🤣 Sounds like a plan, weekend away with the Mrs with some 2 stroke action. Plus the karting, should be fun 😎
@RollinRoadblock Honestly sounds absolutely lovely 😎 But 100%, think you will really enjoy it, the karting is always a nice bonus to the weekends 🙂↔️
Random question, what camera do you use to record your races and what mount do you use to attach it to your helmet. Want to get one for a Xmas present. Cheers 👌
Not a problem, I use a Go Pro Hero 8 and have done for the last few years. Have never had any issues with the camera other than sometimes the batteries tend to die and play up a little bit when it gets towards an hour straight recording (although I record with 2.7K and not 1080p). I just use the sticky pad mount that came with the camera kit and stuck it to the top of my helmet ready for the camera to be slotted into it. Personally, I would have a look at the Go Pro Hero 9 - I think the batteries and stabilisation are a bit better on them and as it’s a little older now, you may be able to grab it for a decent price! 🤞🏾
@ thank you for the reply have gone for a hero 10 👌
That’s great, I hope you enjoy it! 🙌🏾
Main take away I'm taking from your videos is you Southern lot race alot more contact heavy then us northerners 😂 I need to race you somewhere like this and learn to just dive bomb
I think it’s time for you to venture to the scary south and see where the limits lie that you’re allowed to be in 😏
@BenPaines some podding incoming 😂😂
We do love a bit of podding 😍
The 8:30 group on Mondays use to think it was stockcar all bumper action and loading. I did an extra session with them and it was agressively fantastic. We all came out with 6 penalty points each and the fence came down.
Yes only 50% so black and white for you. As far as Jason, no probs he likes a good T-bone.
Was definitely a bit of a mess at the start but me and Jason always love a bit of on-track warfare 🤓

Thank you so much Sam! 🙌🏾
That crash looked brutal. You alright?😅 I’m a beginner (but kinda old 😄) karter and I really struggle with the slippery downstairs parts when the track is cold. Any advice?
Try to keep the kart as straight as possible and try not to drift through the corners. Use brakes gradually but still with enough pressure to reach max pressure on most corners (at least on this track) and be careful on the throttle as you want to get on it when the kart has settled and isn't sliding, although you can slightly feather it before going fully on the power coming out of a few low grip corners, for example the hairpin before the up ramp.
@ thanks man, noted!
All drivers were alright thankfully, including myself! 💪🏾 Advice Oskar has given is very good, one thing I noticed after not going for a while, was how light you have to be on the brake pedal to not lose too much momentum. The most I was pressing it towards the end was about 20% of the entire pedal to ensure the kart slowed but didn’t completely bog down under low speed. Main advice however would be to not overdrive, aim to be smoother rather than faster if that makes sense? 👀
I noticed on the restart you were VERY clearly crawling forward well before the lights went out which is not great sportsmanship. 8:14 for anyone wanting to have a look.
Absolute menance
The karts have a high idle, and I wasn’t holding the brake which is why the kart was crawling slowly (further haven’t used petrol karts indoors at a race start for a good few months as explained in the video due to using electrics, which don’t crawl when the brakes are not held at a race start). However, I also was further back in my grid slot to accommodate for this. I race within the limits of what is allowed and pride myself on trying to be as sporting and fair as possible - especially as everything I do is recorded for everyone to see ✌🏾
nothing new at TS Bristol, Bens been doing it since the start
@@BenPaines Interesting. Sounds like i have been the mug all along for sticking to the rules by holding the brake where needed to keep my kart stationary until the lights go out. I think regardless of whether you started further back in your grid slot to accommodate the high idle you still have an advantage compared to all other stationary karts as you've already got momentum, which as you know makes a big difference in karting. IMHO i dont think thats within the limits at all, it's clearly outside of them.
This is the only time I’ve ever done this just due to having a bit of a mind blank and using electric karts a lot recently, as I mentioned previously. At the end of the day, I just didn’t want a repeat of what happened before the restart took place 🤷🏾♂️
I've seen a crash like that happen quite a few times on race starts here and its a bit of a tricky one as its not a great track design. I've also been the one in your position on the inside a few times, but when i could see what was going to happen I just backed out, otherwise you're putting way too much faith on the outside kart deciding to give you more space. Equally when you're on the outside you cant just give people loads of space because you're practically giving the position to them even if they were already quite far back (i experienced this too a few times when i was being way too nice). I think technically the best thing to do when you're on the inside is to start to back out a little and get behind them when you see the outside kart is sticking to their line and forcing you into the vortex of danger (and also when you're clearly not ahead of them). In that way, you still keep the inside line from anyone behind you, but you just don't pass the one in front (something you can do later if you're quicker), you also wont be caught up in a collision with them. Sadly, i think most people do what you do knowing they will go into the barrier which ultimately results in a race restart, and i think some drivers know a restart is on the table so they do it intentionally.
Your right, best thing to do in racing is to back out of a move👍
It’s a bit of a horrible kink in the track and unfortunately I’m a person that won’t ever back of something I consider a 50/50 chance of making a place unless something drastic happens. On this occasion, it just all came up very quickly, I didn’t even have time to react to what was going on, especially with a kart essentially pushing my rear bumper too (so there was no way of backing out unless I fully moved to the side and let everyone past - which I wasn’t going to do). I’m also not someone that would ever force a restart as I absolute hate wasting the track time - we lost out on about 6 laps of racing because of this. Although I do know some that would be more than happy to take places back if something like this were to happen 🤧
@@BenPaines If you were being pushed from behind too that's a fair point that i didn't consider as so you're right about it not being easy to back out in that situation. I actually liked your solution on the restart where you push that kart to the right slightly to stop it from happening again (as it looked like it was about to happen again). And yeah, I certainly know a few too who much prefer to force a race restart.
@@Robbie.Petchey.Racing *you're. Like most things in life, there is a real advantage to mastering the ability to successfully recognise when to commit or when to back out of a situation. If you don't ever choose your battles wisely then it's just reckless...and reckless behaviour is a real issue if it directly impacts others.

Did your camera pick up what I was shouting about the guy who squeezed me into the back of you after that incident?😂 My damn number plate thingy was bent and out of position. Side note, is it just me or do the Bristol karts feel restricted now that I have seen what the Warrington ones feel like?
My camera did grab the scenes afterwards however I thought I’d skip that little bit out… 😂 The whole front of the kart was caved in so I’m glad you were all good honestly! And I think the speed difference is just subject to the electrics having more torque, plus they can be at their top speed for longer due to the length of the straights! 🔥
@BenPaines I can't remember exactly what Isaid but it couldn't have been good😂, I'll need to bring my camera to every race now, regardless of what it is because Im pissed i didn't have it on this day
Oh no it definitely wasn’t… 🙃 I’m really surprised that you didn’t have it on you, but this is why I always wear mine, no matter where I am! 😅
Tbf you are quite lucky that you didn't end up on top of another kart. Must've been a pretty clean crash record if that is your biggest!
I did actually manage to land on top of another kart but luckily it was just on the nassau so it caused me to bounce off straight away and we were both alright! Fingers crossed there’s no more like it in the near future! 😅
Man you raced well bro that kart shouldnt of been used if was swapped before hand 😮
Thank you so much, was such a punch in the gut as I was completely gullible to think the best karts would’ve been put out on track for the final 🫠
@BenPaines it's definitely a kick in the gut no doubt. I'm sure your come back stronger and get that top position you deserve 🏆
Will be back again next year for sure, hopefully can make it back to the National Final again and give it another good go! 💪🏾
goated
Thank you very much! 🤠
The commentary was a bit brutal to you man😅, You did great, just so unlucky. On to the next one🐐!
Thank you so much Bran, can’t wait for the next one, especially as I’m going to be seeing you soon at BRKC! 🔥
Wow! Honestly Ben you did great, and that semi final really showed your potential keeping up with Saul. It really is such a shame that you got stuck with a bad kart for the final as I think you could have gone for a podium place! But in the end Ben you still did excellently and should be really proud, especially as this was your first time at the national finals. Well done and great video. 👍🏻
Thank you Katie, was really happy with how I did and had a great race with Saul in the Semi Final. Couldn’t believe I was pushing for the front on my first time there but hopefully there’s more to come in the future! Really appreciate the kind words as always! 😇
Quickest guy on the day was Saul and by far the one who had the most taken from him. From start to finish he was in front. Poor race control decisions. (Charlie's Dad)
Quickest HW was always going to be Saul as a track local with over 400 sessions at the track. Was really upset to see the way that the end of the way the race placed out on the restart, with grid positions, retaken jokers etc… It just wasn’t good enough all round unfortunately.
@BenPaines Saul dominated at our Regionals at Nottingham too which isn't his local. Credit to the driver where it's due. Great racing all day by all!
He’s definitely done very well, should take nothing away from himself. Looking forward to what he gets involved in next year for sure! Was still lovely to race with so many competitive and strong drivers!
@BenPaines You gave us all some great racing to watch!
I’m still baffled how the move at 28:18 wasn’t a penalty I was just like you sitting behind thinking for sure I was gonna get a place for free 😅 , however ignoring that absolute pleasure to race you Ben, hopefully we will soon again in more equal karts 🙂
I think we are both going to remain baffled for a while with that one - I still am 😂 Was amazing finally racing you too Antony, I really enjoyed our battles all day for sure and I’m sure we’ll get that opportunity at some point in the near future 😎
Teamsport's inconsistent Kart performance is one of the main things that have put me off BIKC.
It really is a bit all over the place and does add an element of luck over the competition - however, the best drivers seem to final themselves at Nationals every year. So was very happy and proud to be up there in the first place for sure 🥰
Well done, Ben. You truly deserved so much more after all the effort, preparation, and the performance you delivered on the day. Unfortunately, lady luck wasn’t on your side. I can’t help but feel that if you’d gone all-in with the Panda 🐼 head covering, your fortune might have turned out so differently, and Megan agrees! 😀👍🏼
Thank you Neil, gave it my all but it’s just one of those things unfortunately. Maybe next year, it might have to be arranged… need to have some of that that extra fortune 😅🤣
You done very well to control venting your frustration through thidls video. Ofcourse we spoke briefly in the early hours of the morning after the event and you explained exactly how you felt, so a huge pat on the back for how you've managed this video. Oscar's super chill when things go wrong but I'm his dad and when protective dad mode kicks in, well it kicks in and I become his voice, hence why in his video's I use AI vouces or text 😂 You raced out of your skin though, closing that gap on Saul was no small task, you can be very proud and know next year your going in in contention for the podium 💯 Also what an editing masterclass this video is, the absolute precision timing with the overlays and stitching all the cuts together. I feel that the hours that go into these video's go unseen and unapreciated, so also a huge pat on the back for this effort, easily has to be the best video to come out of the BIKC and a real credit to your channel. Well done sir 🎉
Thank you very much, honestly venting out frustration would solve nothing, what’s done is done and can only push forward to take the positives from it 😇 Was really happy with my driving during the event as a whole and was proud to put on a show from it. Very easy to throw rattles out of the pram (have done it a fair bit in the past…) but learnt a lot from the whole experience that can be used moving forward 🫡 The videos always take a bit of extra time alongside just the recording but I really enjoy doing it and if it can help/inspire others to get involved whilst providing a bit of entertainment then that is all a bonus for me 🥹 Thank you for the kind words as always, it really does mean the world ❤️
@BenPaines Maybe one day once he's old enough Oscar could be racing alongside you in KRT....if you'd have him 😁 Money is the true barrier I face in terms of getting him much higher up in competetive motor sports, ie owner karting, so looking for alternate ways forwards, teams he could race with that won't bankrupt me. I'm more than prepared to drive him anywhere he needs to go around the UK so maybe that's one day an option. Keep up the great content, we definitely look up to you as inspiration.
I am definitely keeping my eye on Oscar don’t worry 😌 Money is always a massive issue, talent can only take you so far in racing but with the right support around, it really does help a lot! The support you give Oscar is amazing and I know he really appreciates it as well 100% 🔥 Thank you so much as well, genuinely it means the world, will hopefully have some more footage out again soon 🥳
@@BenPaines I've just read this thread to Oscar....but got to run now as Teamsport GP1 starts in just over an hour 😎 Chat soon and it's great to hear you've got your eye on him 👊🏼
Likewise mate, hope he enjoys it! 🔥
I thoroughly enjoyed what a semi final start in 3rd looked like 😉😂
You were busy flapping your wings for that speed boost 😂🤪 Was such an advantage being on the inside, grid slots were way too close together 🥲
Looks like BIKC has a lot to learn in terms of organizing a proper event... more about the luck than the skill. well done tho!
It was definitely a bit all over the place… Seemed that luck definitely took its hold on me but thank you so much mate I really appreciate it, can’t wait for the next one now!
@ don’t let this get in your head! Keep on driving and you will get there
I won’t for sure, onto the next one, can’t wait for BRKC in January 🤩
Reposition the grid spots with more space between and it would have been a much fairer event. We just have to accept some karts are worse than others, impossible to really fix that but atleast the TS crew try.
I agree 100%, if it was slight more spread out, it would’ve given those on the outside a fairer chance - rather than being punished for qualifying in a higher position than those behind them. The TS guys do as good a job as they can, the parity was just a bit of a shame with the tight margins with everyone performing extremely well; could’ve happened to anyone on the grid unfortunately.
no footage of the crying ranting or swearing at the end? what's even the point of watching!! 😂 amazing racing tho, I'll put you under some pressure next year
This is a PG channel… If that camera stayed on and didn’t die during that red flag then I would’ve had a few issues 🤧 Really appreciate it though mate, look forward to seeing you around again sometime soon 🫶🏾
Kevin loves the drama 😂
He really does, he’s the king of drama 😉
Was an absolute pleasure to race against you Ben, especially that semi 🙏🏼 Gutted you got an absolute dog in the grand final. Me you and Hassan fighting in the grand final would have been unbelievable content 😍
Was amazing giving you a battle mate, the Semi Final was definitely up there with my best of the year for sure as I said 😌 Would’ve been an amazing little battle for the win but there’s always next year 😉
Definitely the quickest guy on the day mate robbed by a bad kart gutted for you watching this again now and bad enough on the day watching it knowing you were quicker gutted for you mate knew the dedication you put in to this but hold your head high 👍🏻and the commentary guys love you MR ENTERTAINMENT the Ben paines show 😉😉😉🤣👊🏻
Did all I could, was still really happy with the performance and to be up at the front with some talented drivers! Spent a lot of time, money and effort but it’s just one of those things unfortunately. I think you may have secretly paid off the commentary team, was very surprised at the amount of screen time 😅🥰
@ you deserved all the air time mate and even pre event at silverstone 👍🏻and your dad on an interview also and he dresses SHARP MATE love his style in clothing 👌
Really do appreciate it Wayne, thank you very much 🥹 Will pass on the kind words, he seemed even more comfortable than I did for his interview 😎
@ he’s my kinda guy 😎👌
Unlucky mate, was gutted for you watching the final
Cheers mate, was a shame because it makes me think what if… but it is what it is, onto the next event 💪🏾
