Yes, we see this kind of thing today in Karen's who think they're so high and mighty with their false accusations, only to be humbled when the police arrive.
+trish030608 Me too, Trish. The grace and mercy of God is so overwhelming. When you see this clip of Jesus and Matthew it really hits hard. I've always said that my favorite attributes of God are His Wonderful Mercy and Grace. Without which I would be destroyed. I am Born Again, and He has forgiven me of much. When we stumble and sin, even during our walk, He is so faithful in forgiving us if we are faithful in confessing. Just like our own children, they mess up, even though they know better. But parents don't love their kids because they never break the rules, we love them in spite of it. I don't only do good for my kids because they are always good, but just because they are my kids. And likewise, I will never disown them for wrongdoing. God doesn't take away our salvation because we sin after we have become Born Again, because we became His children. As His children, we are forgiven already even before we ask. So once you become born again, unless you deny Him completely and turn away from Him, you can never lose your salvation. How wonderful is He for that. Mercy and Grace of God are so awesome.
I cry every time. All of us are the tax collectors in this example. The message Christ was conveying is that of humility NOT judgement of others. Many Christians forget this and judge others harshly while ignoring their own sins. Christ abhors hypocrisy. Don't ever forget that his last message to us was "to love one another, as he has loved us'. Act in his example of love, forgiveness, humility and righteousness. That is the whole point of God coming to earth in human form: to teach us to live by his example so that we may find eternal life with him.
It is perfect what you have said. This scene alone struck me to which I have watched it multiple times. Like you said, we all need to humble ourselves. Look at the love of God. We're all sinners, nevertheless when we humble ourselves and know that we cannot justify ourselves and we need him. LOOK WHAT HE DOES! Our God is an amazing, loving, merciful God.
The whole Movie was great. My Mom named me Matthew. This part was my favorite not just because i was named after him but how a person who nobody liked because of his job. He humbled himself and God choose to give him Grace and Favor. 😊
It takes a special kind of humility to ask God for mercy. Some people don't care about God's forgiveness. Some are even proud of their bad behavior. Some don't even think God exists. Some even hate God.
One thing I absolutely love about this show, is it captures so many amazing things. The actors who portrayed the apostles did phenomenal, the actor who played Jesus also did very amazing. There chemistry together is amazing and this show brings me too tears so many times, this series is so faith lifting. it is one of my tv shows ever made. God is good!
The actor who plays the tax collector, was just moving! We can see ourselves in his place ( providing that we learn to humble ourselves to God.) When you've been through something, you truly understand it...Amen!
I did not know it was St. Matthew until Jesus said "Matthew"... Im pretty sure, in the Gospels, Jesus said this parable long after he had called Matthew, but it's still very touching
I fell out of the church for 4-5 years after I went to college and joined a frat and sinned everyday but a good friend of mine who pledged with me was a Jew who had a spiritual awakening and turned to Jesus after meeting a preacher on an internship we had together in Texas (we go to school in Florida) and people always say they found Jesus but I truly believe that Jesus found me and brought me back into the fold through a great friend of mine. He got me to start reading the Bible (witch I had never read growing up in the church) and he helped me open my eyes to gods glory. At the time I was really depressed and felt so much guilt from the things I did and didn’t do and this clip and parable from the Bible brought me to tears. I am the tax collector. I am not worthy of god’s forgiveness and mercy yet but because of my good friend I believe I am on the road to betting myself and being the man god wants me to be. Thank god for this clip and and thank god for bringing my good friend into my life in the den of sinners. (You never know where he will find you) god bless all of you and I wish nothing it the best for everyone. (The road is always there for us to follow no matter how many times we may fall)- Joshua graham
We hear this Gospel passage every year on the Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee as our first Pre-Lenten Sunday at my Byzantine parish and it gets me every time. It’s my favorite reading and one that when I die, which I will one day, requested to have chanted at my funeral with the story of Jesus resurrecting Lazarus from the dead. I still get goosebumps every time.
I come back to this clip often. The tears we cry is our identification with this humble sinner. But they are tears of joy in the knowledge that like Matthew, we are forgiven completely. There is no greater forgiveness than the perfect forgiveness of our Lord Jesus. It's so beautiful. That is how I know that Christ is the true son of God. Our faith has both the acknowledgement that we are always going to be deeply flawed, even evil, and yet saves us completely from all of it...even as we continue to sin! We can't help it, we were born into sin as imperfect human beings. But whether we deserve it or not, we are let off the hook, for free, because a man suffered unimaginable torment in our place. I AM SAVED! I AM SO GRATEFUL MY LORD!
This part always humbles me in spirit and always feel shame as I know I at times put myself higher than others when I'm still dirt compared to God when it comes to doing good works.
Accept Jesus the Christ as your Lord and repent your sins. This is the very least what the Lord want from you on Salvation. The Holy Spirit shall be within you - to teach and guide you. Knowing you are a sinner you shall be humbled, and you will follow the Word of our Father in Heaven. No one is sinless yet through the blood of Jesus Christ we are redeemed, therefore our relationship with God reconciled; He calls us to be holy because He is holy.

I often feel like the tax collector when I go to church. This scene makes me emotional every time I see it.
Jesus can heal every heart no matter how damanged. ❤️
Very true.
"Now he even calls the sinners to follow him." I'm so glad he did for I would be lost and broken.
The most moving example of compassion that I have ever learned. Thank you so much, Jesus. ✝👼🏻💜
"see he even calls the sinners to follow him". Yeah, thats kinda the point buddy
Look how his face changes when he sees the pharisee
But not everyone knows that. We as god believers gotta spread the word like Matthew is right now.
Thanks to our Lord and Saviour atoning sacrifice, a man can change completely..Any man!❤
Its so wonderful how GoD forgives us yet we still fall into temptation O Father in H eaven hear me and forgive me for all the wrongs and help me do the right things in life.
Jesus be Praised!
I have no other choice, no other way but to follow Jesus for i too am a sinner. thank you Jesus.
Look at the love of God. We're all sinners, nevertheless when we humble ourselves and know that we cannot justify ourselves and we need him. LOOK WHAT HE DOES! Our God is an amazing, loving, merciful God.
This scene always touches my heart. Makes me weep.
Me too. I will always find a very special strength from this scene.
@@mikebasil4832 - It is a beautiful, beautiful scene.
A real Father worries about his lost children.
The whole Movie was great. My Mom named me Matthew. This part was my favorite not just because i was named after him but how a person who nobody liked because of his job. He humbled himself and God choose to give him Grace and Favor. 😊
Every time I watch this scene i cry...
I love this scene.
God bless you.
I can relate 100% to that tax collector. I’ve committed so much evil against the holy God, and don’t even deserve his mercy and Grace.
God is not a respecter of persons but a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him🙌
Imagine Jesus looking right and you and speaking what’s in your heart
"Now He even calls the sinners to follow Him!"
Yep, that's kind of the point.
Just a reminder that it's never to late to be saved. And that there's always a secend change.
Whenever I feel pretty low, I watch this scene. It's encapsulates the reason. God is sovereign.
Michael Howell Amen. I was feeling pretty low and this parable encouraged me. It is so simple and beautiful.
I cried just like Matthew at this scene.T_T
amen Jesus Christ is Lord
Why can't I stop watching this!?!?
It's like 5 years later and I keep on coming back here.
Each time I've seen the clip of Jesus calling Matthew I've been overwhelmed by the mercy & grace our Lord shows us-inspite of ourselves.
Imagine what went through Matthew's mind, the Son of Man fixing his gaze on you, and you know in your heart you're unworthy.
One of the best scenes.
I love the performance of the actor playing Mathew….I really felt the message of this passage from him
Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
JESUS is so kind and awesome.. His closer to us than lovely parents. I'm proud to walk with Him.
Thank you Lord that you are the god of mercy. I live by your grace akone.
This rips me apart every time. I almost can't watch it
I did not know it was St. Matthew until Jesus said "Matthew"... Im pretty sure, in the Gospels, Jesus said this parable long after he had called Matthew, but it's still very touching
Jesus He made Mathew cry... i felt it too ..
Christ be praised
It is so haaard to humble yourself and even harder to not judge people if you can do this you are truly blessed
I cry every-time I see this. Blessed are us in the name of Jesus our Savior
Names Matt . This always hits me when I need it
I come back to this clip often.
The best best best movie of Jesus. He act so well!!! he in his eyes shows so much peace and love. I LOVE IT
Everytime I see him I get teary eyed with a big smile I love you King Jesus Christ
Forgive me lord! I am a sinner ! I don’t deserve your mercy. But I humiliate myself . In your presence .
Please pray for me
That I will humble myself in words and actions
Goes to show the Lord is demonstrating he heard his prayer through a parable amazing!
Makes me tear up everytime.
prise the lord! i‘m really thankful for sacrificing him self to wipe out of all our sins from past to future.
This part always humbles me in spirit and always feel shame as I know I at times put myself higher than others when I'm still dirt compared to God when it comes to doing good works.
By far my favorite part of not only this movie but the Bible. Thank God for what Christ did for ALL OF US ❤
We are like Matthew the tax collector we keep sinning but God is always there for us. The grace of God is beautiful.
I just don't understand why this world did't love Him and the worst is this world hates Him. He is full of mercy!! Jesus bless us all.
My favorite scene of this series. I always cry.
I saw this last night. My favourite interpretation of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. Moving performance by the actor
Watching this on Christmas Day 😊
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
This is the best scene of the entire movie. The Lord brought this scene to my memory.
Mine too and I always embrace it.
Just living by a set of rules are not enough.(outward show of holiness).what matter to God is inner lives(humbleness, merciful, perfect heart...).
Always wise always loving always forgiving always merciful always bringing joy always willing to cure a broken heart THATS JESUS MY LORD MY KING!!!!
My God, gets me every time! Thank you Lord for your love, kindness, and mercy! 😢😫🙌
This really gets you in the feels.Thankyou for loving us Jesus.
Surfer Jesus doesn't have time for banter. He jumps right into the story. Good on you, Jesus.
