First of all thank you Mr. Michael Moore's Where to Invade Next movie to show this video. It gave us a lot to think about whether we want punish them or to correct them when we put them into the prison
We are the World ! ... Norway will not let you down ... Pressents coming your way for you'r russian "friends" 😉 ... Hang in there, - you are not alone, or forgotten ..! ❤️🔥
I have lived in Norway in the 90s for 5 years as a student. Norway made me a better human being, by giving me a perspective of life, the society and the world, that is hard to get anywhere else in the world. 20 years on, I still love the country and its people. Alt for Norge!
Not only are they really meaning what they are singing, but they actually have pretty great voices and musical skills, which is not usually in the job description of a prison guard. So either Norway is doing a better job of teaching music literacy to their general population, or somehow they got a higher proportion of musicians at that prison than the norm.
Musical skills may not be asked for in the job description but I guess Halden Fengsel is attractive for prison guards. Hence the best qualified will get the post. Having skills that may be related or are related to the job may be an advantage. Also it may be mandatory that employers ask the applicants for hobbies. Hobbies and interests tells the employer about your character. Norway had a coach for the national football team. Hobbies were important for the team building. Most players had at least one hobby aside from football. That is the best team Norway ever had. Ranked #2 in the world for one month but still ranked among the best for some years under that coach.
I think it is a difference in the goal(s) over gov. Set for distribution of money in ower nations. .. Norwegian gow. = For the people. .. U.S. gow. = For the profit. .. Easy as that...
It's better than being free (poor) in America, four years homeless now, started with nothing and my country telling me (CERTAINLY NOT INSTRUCTIONALY) I had to sign up for something like 20 times the money that has been involved in my life in loans just to go to a class, that they make last for half or nearly an entire decade. I haven't seen a doctor in over ten years, and a friend of mine fractured an arm this year to the tune of fifty six thousand dollars, something like 20% over a years salary for me.
+Richard Uhlig Maybe because of the unbelievable high number of prisoners in your country? America's got 10 a 15 times more prisoners per capita then Norway and wich, I'm sorry for you, is also the highest number in World. The relative extremely higher prisoners rates combined with the much higher Norway standards and institutions, makes the gap ridiculous ambitious for America. Opportunities arise if you can get rid of the religious morons and ''Wall Street sponsored big-shots'' in the senate, which, obviously, don't represent the common good.
+birchlake31 Relaxing at the studio recording the song and other's cooking for the everyone. Some are painting, learning a new trade. They all have their own key to their rooms and go in an out of the room anytime they want, but stay in the facility. See the movie.
Yes, great, sing those wonderful songs, but where oh where is the reform ??? There are so many families out there who are broken because of the 'system'.......... Let's MAKE change !!
You might think you would. Sure it looks great.. but imagine not being allowed to see your family whenever you want. Imagine not being able to see your girlfriend/boyfriend, wife/husband, children, close friends whenever you want. Imagine not being able to go outside whenever you want. These are just a FEW of the things they can't do. There are so many more things they can't do. If I want to I can leave the country and go on vacation. They can't. If I want to I can buy 5 dogs. They can't. If I want to I can go out and party. They can't. If I want I can go to the mall and buy clothes or whatever else I want. They can't. If I want to be outside all day I can. They can't. If I want to be outside all night I can. They can't. These are things you might think you don't need, but try it. Have someone set up a plan of normal things you're not allowed to do. Do it for a month. See if you want to continue not doing those things after that month.
Christoffer Ronaasen your right dude,I do envy you,the co's here would laugh at this while they kick the shit out of you,we get cold steel beds,a blanket is luxury,so yea we envy Norwegians
Julian Hanssen come here get locked in a bathroom, with a smelly dude where you can't get no more than an arms length away from said smelly dude, the only time you come out of that bathroom, your shacked like a dog and led to another cage whether it be outside or shower, imagine sitting in that bathroom 22/23 hours a day that's a good day that no one tries to steal a fork from chow or fights then your licked with said smelly dude for days at a time, until the shift commander or Lt deems fit to let everyone out, some prisons have up to 4 smelly ass dudes in one little bathroom,I can go days without seeing family,I Dont go to the mall,if that's all your prisoners are worried about,I'll trade places with them anyday
They got so tragic mass murder 2011 event and prison's guards can sign "" we are the world "" ? My God How they can do that ? Im stunt and down from my chair All my prayers for Norway GOD BLESS Norway 4 your courage
Yes - watch the Michael Moore video. The guards are completely unarmed, and the prisoners have never been stabbed, bum-raped in the showers or any of that stuff - they even get a key to their own cell. And they get to use proper cutlery in the dining room, including the use of a meat cleaver. This, apparently, is their top level security prison - with murderers and rapists etc.
To all the foreigners watchin this, its very common for middle aged norwegian women to have short hair. It doesnt mean theyre lesbians it just means theyre married and dont need to look good anymore..
This drives me to tears. These men and women are absolutely fantastic.
Respect from St. Nikolaus

Absolutely amazing performance 😁👍 !

Every prison should need a red button so that when some one (inmate or guard) feels depressed they can press the button and this song plays. Love it!
When I first saw this I thought i passed out and was dreaming
We are still the world. We are still the children of it.
God bless you all in America
It will perhaps be a good World one day when inmates and wardens sing along together.
wow! incredible! the best way to educate the prisoners for the most part!😊
Medmenneskelighet, kjærlighet og respekt! :)

+Richard Uhlig Because your prisoners are voilent. Also black people don't like choirs.

Chilling in their 5+ star hotel rooms ;-)
This was made when the prison was opened.
Yes, great, sing those wonderful songs, but where oh where is the reform ??? There are so many families out there who are broken because of the 'system'.......... Let's MAKE change !!
This is why americans envy norway.

Pure European decadence. So sickening to watch this.
... a decadence with only a 20% recidivism rate, compared to 80% from brutal US prisons.

US prison culture is why twitter cancel culture exists.
Who is decadent here?
