there were three clips for the count down, hopefully the third is the rd-9 or even better a hardware sequencer/sample player to rival the akai mpc range
As a HUGE fan of the 606 I can't tell you how disappointed I am that you dropped the ball on this. First of all good job on the clap. That was half the problem with the original. But the main reason people don't use the 606 very much anymore compared to 808 and 909 is its fatal flaw that no one has ever bothered to correct with any of the other clones or remakes--tuning and decay for the drum sounds. The kick is too short and high pitched. Despite the 606 being my favorite drum machine of all time, I've been using samples since the 90s instead of the real thing because they are better, because they allow for tuning and decay (and many other) changes. I'm far from alone in this. You made the 808 and 909 with tuning and decay on the kicks at least, yet somehow thought it would be ok to do this one without it. All you've done is kept the 606 from living up to its potential yet another time. Literally no drum machine has any excuse to NOT have tuning and decay on every single sound. They are the most essential and basic features of a drum sound. You were the last hope I had left that someone would eventually see the obvious and just add tuning and decay. So sad. That's all it would take to put it in the same class as the 808 and 909. It sounds as good as either of them, but with 0 flexibility on the actual sound of the drums how can it compete in 2020 especially?
I am so so so buying this. The 606 was always low key my favorite edition of the Roland TR series. A plugin version is actually my daily driver for modern electronic music. I absolutely love it to death. It might not have originally had the thicc decay tail of the 808's kick drum (although that part could always be supplemented with a synthesizer), but with the right mods and a creative effects chain, you could get some really punchy sounds from it. Whenever I overdrive the kick and snare individually, they don't just punch through the mix, they freaking stab through it.
I bet the reason you like it is because you don't use a real one. Being able to change the tuning and decay is critical to getting usable sounds out of the 606 (or any other drum machine) which is why most people use samples or vst versions of the 606 which allow changes in the drum sounds. The way the original and all the clones are designed is essentially crippled. Who wants drums that can't even be tuned? 606 has always been my favorite, yet somehow tuning and decay is too much to ask 30 years later...I wish I could be excited like you, but samples are still better than this drum machine unless you think that having 0 control over the drum sounds is reasonable in 2020. No one liked the lack of basic functions back in the 90s (when I had a 606 that sat in a corner because it couldn't be tuned and all the other drum machines could be). The box is too small to add tuning and decay pots with mods, so Behringer would have had to add them in their design phase for it to happen. The 606 kick is every bit as good as the 808 with tuning and decay, but yet again basic essential features are left out of the design. I'm stuck still using 606 samples. It's been about 30 years and samples are still the best choice. Such a wasted opportunity. That kick is so good tuned down and 250-500 ms longer.
@@AtlasTheGarbage I'm looking at a frame of the video and see distortion, tone, and level. Where's the tuning? Maybe the knob that looks like it says tone says tune, but I'm pretty sure it says tone. It's blurry so it's hard to tell. I hope you're right.
The outcome of all this could take a while with some new kids. I'm looking forward to hearing the radio in a few years. It's going to be veeeerrrry interesting :) :) :) 0 :) :) :) That beat sounds like Egyptian Lover's Girls! What about the Korg KPR77 which I have two of?
I knew that a TR-606 clone was coming, It was a logical move to make the companion for the TB-3, adding the clap sound, distortion and audio outs is super nice.
The TR-606 is among the cheapest of the collection of vintage Roland drum machines today. If you ask me, I say they should have done the 727 or possibly the Oberheim DMX or the CR-78.
@@paolobragaglia7249 That's true, the 606 is my second favorite TR, right after the 707. But I'd rather pay $150 for a rarer analog drum machine, because right now I can go and drop about $500 on an authentic 606.

Dr Avalanche may have been a 606 at some point but it was better known as an RX7 and later an RX11. Big Black on the other hand, now you’re talkin. Cue up some Kerosene
This woman is just about the coolest cat on the internet.
Whats about RD-9 ? RELEASE IT!
Behringer we are all still waiting for you to do the sp1200!
Imagine the circuit bending potential!
I'm sure this circuit boards were created by nano-dwarf people...
So trying to do that will surely require equally microscopic accuracy
Good luck finding someone to circuit bend time SMD components for you.
Just noticed, we have the same desk. Only difference is my TD-3 and RD-6 are black.
Am I the only one who would like to see a Roland CR-78 clone?
Dave Lawlis nope you’re not the only one....I agree, that would be funky
Me too
I'd like the sounds, but sequencing a lot more like this or many other machines to follow.
@@s3nsec0rruptr80 i need the sound too and hope they do an cr 68 and cr 78 Soundsynth in a tr8 style
Then s dream Come true
@@s3nsec0rruptr80 I've been looking around, and Cyclone Analogic makes one like this for $350.
You have included a lot of extras but no decay pot for BD? Why?
Really out here ignoring the rd-9, huh?
Awesome touch with the individual outs 👍🏻 still waiting on that 2600 reveal
Oh and kudos for the sisters of mercy
there were three clips for the count down, hopefully the third is the rd-9 or even better a hardware sequencer/sample player to rival the akai mpc range
@theinvisibleman I sure hope so. :)
@@tsuobachi they didn't show it in the demo but this clone has tuning and distortion knobs.
@@AtlasTheGarbage I'm looking at a frame of the video and see distortion, tone, and level. Where's the tuning? Maybe the knob that looks like it says tone says tune, but I'm pretty sure it says tone. It's blurry so it's hard to tell. I hope you're right.
@@tsuobachi actually it does say tone.
Love It!..pls give us a live set friendly sequencer to fire all this goodies and tape delay too ...
Yeah... something affordable.. bet they could make a sick sequencer for this and all my synthesizers
The clap from the DR-110 ? 😮 That's one of my very favourite clap sounds !!
This might be a silly thought, but how about creating a drum machine thats not a clone? How many clones of the 80s do we need?
A clone of the Roland Alpha Juno 2 would be great with these ?
What ever happened to the RD-9
The outcome of all this could take a while with some new kids. I'm looking forward to hearing the radio in a few years. It's going to be veeeerrrry interesting :) :) :) 0 :) :) :) That beat sounds like Egyptian Lover's Girls! What about the Korg KPR77 which I have two of?
I knew that a TR-606 clone was coming, It was a logical move to make the companion for the TB-3, adding the clap sound, distortion and audio outs is super nice.
Nah, give us the RD-909 ffs.
It's out go buy one chump
thats it. im not eating anymore
music can feed you. :-)
This and the 303 are the most Chicago looking gear ever created
Is this taking so long because of the virus or what?
uli please i need to save money
yes,but today, you can pay your machines in 10 months 1/10th of the price each month , you won't feel it.
The TR-606 is among the cheapest of the collection of vintage Roland drum machines today. If you ask me, I say they should have done the 727 or possibly the Oberheim DMX or the CR-78.
GENIUS I would buy that Oberheim DMX in a heartbeat!
Not true 606 if often underrated bus has got a beautiful sound and very distinctive character...
@@paolobragaglia7249 That's true, the 606 is my second favorite TR, right after the 707. But I'd rather pay $150 for a rarer analog drum machine, because right now I can go and drop about $500 on an authentic 606.
Sounds great and has a great price. Will definitely pick it up as I have never owned a real 606.
