I am proud owner of Baleno RS. This car is very good in city and on Highway. With maruti ,maintenance is also relatively low.

Simple, Crisp and to the point.
Wow, beautiful.
The thing is Baleno at less than 900 kgs, is about 300 kgs lighter than its rivals. And people somehow, w/o using their brains, assume that lighter cars have lower build quality and low stability. This is not true, else super-cars and hyper-cars that are made from carbon-fibre shoud be even more unstable than these cars. You see, Baleno is based on the HEARTECT platform, which is an aluminium intensive platform. Aluminium is lighter and stronger than traditional steel. So you get more strength in lesser weight. Advantages? Better and nimble handling, quick to change directions and of-course greater fuel efficiency. If adding only heavy materials could make a car stronger, then cars like Mahindra Scorpio would have fared better in crash tests.

@@stickshifter8251 In NZ, the Swift has a 5 star ANCAP safety rating. Lack of airbags and stability control, etc. explains the low Indian safety rating, not the robustness of the car.
🤣lol, swift and Baleno are far better than Scorpio. In quality, riding,and airbags.
This is THE best car for enthusiasts in the market...nimble,lightweight,manual gearbox, disks all around, reliable and makes same hp as a polo gt tsi. Sad that it never got the appreciation it deserves. People love the handling of the polo..I've always felt the polo to understeer very badly and also for being very nose heavy..also no manual. Mahn we Indians don't deserve cars like these.

I agree with you that most of who insults maruti as tin ka dabba are either don't really have a car or they do have a maruti both just trying to be smart asses in Internet. With the exception of spresso.

16 inch wheels looks smaller in this vehicle . The alloys look like wheel caps though. Impressive that it manages to touch 100 in the 10 second mark. But that kerb weight !

"No, it's not a typo. It did surprise us too. However the gain from having discs in the rear could be negated by some factors. Firstly the RS is 60kgs heavier than the standard 1.2L Baleno. And then, under hard braking, EBD limits the brake force on the rear axle to prevent premature lock up.”

Good one.However if they brought the 1.4 litre turbo petrol than it would be fantastic.Its available in the Mexican Swift.

Ford Figo 1.5 over this any day. Cheaper and more powerful
petrol,arround 8-10 lkh ,family car .......as u suggested me first baleno alpha will be good for me.......currently using hundai sentro....i love honda city, Skoda rapid......will buying honda city,rapid base model be a good choice..... mileage don't matter much because driving is very less..... plz suggest .....thanxx

Go for Figo Diesel Sportier version, and u will be laughing at others... Better mileage /as fast car and lot inexpensive... Get some nice interior done, and it will look lot racier as well. ..
Proud owner. A Sub 10 second car. 205 tyres, a better exhaust system and an air filter are recommended upgrades for the car. The VGT Turbo is sweet. Great ride quality. Lovely brakes. An ECU remap ensures the car makes around 127HP/200NM. Cheers. For the extra money better pedals, nicer seats and 17 inch alloys should've been there. Overall a really punchy and super smart car in darker colours. 🔥😎❤️
Would love to see it pit against the Ford Figo Sports version on the track just like you guys had done for the previous hatchbacks. A race car driver was impressed with Baleno and even with its low power it was a pretty strong competitor to other cars with higher engine capacity.

ford ecoboost makes way more power with same fuel. not such a good copy..

Good review and most Importantly Honest one.I am having Baleno RS now almost clocked 30000km. I feel car is just very good in ride and handling department, turbo petrol is also good it's not very much like Punto Abarth or VW but it's good . By the way these cars are ment to driven on Highways and city and Baleno RS is more than enough and does its duty beautifully. one thing is maintenance is also not expensive👍

Maruthi has to give some importance to the interior quality ..
Cheap plastics won't work for longer time .. now elite i20 2018 facelift came with minor tweaks and they put the prizing comprehensivly..
Even in latest 2018 swift also maruthi copied the same plastics ... They should start using some decent quality materials inside.
You should give more importance to grammar, its Maruti not Maruthi :D
One should not buy this rs version......but should tune the standard version and maybe an aftermarket exhaust which will perform meuch better than this with the same money😂😀
Mereen Binny hey can you give some more details on the after market tuning? What improvement will it bring, at what cost, and most importantly, what about the warranty and even the future service?

jithin george Baleno RS is all not about the RS badge but it brings with itself an all new 1.0L BoosterJet engine. The engine makes about 102 ps of max power which brings it to the competetion with Polo GT TSI, the Figo Sports edition,Punto Abarth. The Abarth is 1-1.5 lac expensive than the RS and Fiat's afrer sales service network is not that well spread in our country and that's where the Baleno automatically becomes a favourite of people.
In India , Baleno RS is the only hatchback ruling on the India roads.
There is no opponent or competitor came to beat 🔴 Baleno RS ?

we know it is right to compare baleno RS with Punto abarth and polo GT's but I think ford figo tdci is a most understated car as it can beat both polo gt's and baleno rs In terms of performance as the power to weight ratio of 98bhp/ton and (figo )and polo gt tdi (90bhp/ton) and and is not even mensioned In any performance Car review
india's hot hatches rating should be
1. Fiat Punto abarth 0-100 In 8.96 seconds
2. ford figo tdci 0 -100 In 9.66 seconds
3. polo gt tdi(updated 110ps) 0- 100 in 9.89 seconds
4. baleno RS 0-100 in 9.909 seconds
5.polo GT tsi 0-100 in 10.2
figo 1.5 can never beat polo gt tsi/tdi. figo's breaks are not so confidence inspiring and steering lacks old gen figo's HPS feedback.
no doubt figo 1.5 has an insane engine. but breaks are definitely don't have the hardrest bite :D😀
drive a punto to know how a break and suspension should be. I have driven new figo. except for the brilliant engine, nothing is inspiring. for that matter there is no perfect car. if i'm allowed to customize a car i'd pick
1. Punto's steering.
2. Polo's build
3. Punto's suspension.
4. Abarth's 145 Tjet mill
5. Punto's all 4 disk breaks.
6. Maruti's service network
7. Baleno's look
8. Hyundai's features
That wud make a perfect car :D
MadMax I have only two cars Ford figo tdci and Fiat Punto 1.3 multijet and I do know how they differ from each other the only problem in figo is it's thinner tyres which is 175/65/r14 whick affects it's braking and handling confidence but after a tyre upgrade to 195/55/r15 (it's the official size in which it is sold in European countries) it totally transforms this might be just due to increase the milage figures in Indian version
