The pop music now is all sad music. Britney Spears & Christina Aguilera two big late 90s/early 00s pop artists that not only had huge following but sounded nothing like in their voices, their clothing style, their music style etc.. the voices you knew who was singing at least 30 seconds into the song now all the artist sound the same and you’re like um who was that?!
I think it was mismarketed since she hyped it as psychedelic and all. The album is the opposite of it. But if the marketing didn't set expectation like that, I think people would eat it up. I think it's much more successful in the UK and internationally now, but as always the US have no taste lol
Artist that are not from the US don’t usually get the recognition like the US artist does. If the songs are a hit or trending then they are promoted aggressively otherwise not .
It's crazy that the media got mad at Britney in '03 for making fun music. One interviewer asked her why she didn't make personal music "like Christina." She responded saying it was not her prerogative and she just wanted to make music that people could enjoy and dance to. She later said that she had nothing against artists that would get personal, but that it was hard for her to be completely vulnerable and put herself out there especially when the media was judgmental. BRING BACK FUN MUSIC!!
Speak of the devil, I was just thinking about this not too long ago. I miss it when Pop used to be fun, heck, not even Taylor is immune to this issue, especially if you listen to her re-recordings.
As a swiftie, I've noticed this originally Taylor was an artist capable of producing BOPS such as You belong with me, We are never ever getting back together and Shake it off and vulnerable, introspective well written songs like Dear John, Last kiss and All too well, but her newest albums (Folklore, Evermore, Midnights, TTPD) definetily lean much more into the moodiest, introspective and edgy side that is dominating today's pop music.
This might sound crazy but just bear with me. I feel like female rappers kinda replaced the female pop stars as the upbeat larger than life figures and is making the hype music. Acts like Megan thee stallion, Doja cat, and cardi b comes to mind.
That’s not crazy at all! I’ve actually thought about this a bit, but I could never put my finger on it. It’s kind of like rap girls are the new pop stars in a way
@@CamrynSuzanne Could this be an idea for a follow-up on the "Pop is Dead" video? In addition to the rap girls, I want to add that the major hitters are also girls like Anitta, Rosalia, Becky G, and KPOP girls. It appears that the image of pop girls being white has died. This shift in demographics occurred with the introduction of Beyonce, Nicki, and Shakira to the pop scene in the 2000s. Pop is not a strict genre. Pop has shifted to Hip-Hop. Pop is shifting to RnB with people like SZA, Victoria Monet, and Chloe.
This a 100%!!! I made a Reddit thread discussing this very same topic because it seems the sonic landscape has shifted towards femcees as the most popular mainstream female artists. From the camp to the virality, moral panic due their lyrics, and choreography, they've pretty much been increasingly marketed the way Pop stars were back in the 00s.
As much as I love me some Billie Eilish/olivia Rodrigo, I really do miss the unabashed fun electropop of the late 00s/early 10s. It’s desperately needed in this time.
I absolutely think both of those artists are talent and there is space for them, but I do think it’s ushered in a trend slower, pop music and we need fun😭
@@CamrynSuzanne agreed. I think times are defined by the music and culture we listen to. Late 00s/early 10s music was about partying through struggle (Great Recession) and just not letting the troubles of the world infect enjoyment of life. The 2020s seems to be all about just trying to get through anything at all in a world that is spinning out of control. (Covid, wars abroad, etc) and it doesn’t seem like people want to shut off and simply just have fun anymore.
I think Pop music really changed with Lorde. When she released royals a song that ridicules the current pop music at the time and materialism it related to a lot of millennial and Gen z listeners at the time. Who were tired of the current pop music at the time. Once that song took off and became a big hit something changed after that and the labels began to invest into more artist who make that kind of music. Which is now the norm in pop music.
I believe Lana started the first wave with her album Born to Die at very early part of 2010s. At the time, Lana's very specific to be categorized as alt-pop artist during the time where mainstream pop music happened and broke the charts everywhere (i also heard that people also blamed her as industry plant, which might be true but it's kind of hypocritical). Then Lorde started changing the system with "Royals", a somg that purely considered as the first alt-pop song that finally broke the charts. Lana & Lorde's legacy then continue by other artists like Tove Lo, Melanie Martinez, Halsey & Billie Eilish, challenging the mainstream pop music
Girl I really want you to discuss what happened to the MALE pop star I feel like that’s a conversation the girls need to wake up why did the men stop making good pop music ??
i blame lewis capaldi. his whiny breathy almost tryhard sounding singing is what 90% of the male singers rn are doing. even then, artists like ed sheeran kinda got left behind. the weeknd and bruno mars (with silk sonic) are the only ones who provided something akin to what female pop stars are doing rn.
@@MarcDoesNotKnow I think it's the white male pop artists (Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, etc.) that are the problem. POC male artists like Abel, Bruno Mars, and K-pop idols are still giving us amazing pop bangers.
I think Sabrina is the main example of bubblegum pop right now and i think she’s getting more popular than others. I also think that a big example of people not giving good feedback when someone gives them this could be everyone’s reactions to Megan Trainer’s more recent songs like Made You Look. The same people begging for fun pop dissed that song for having silly lyrics. I think Sabrina has very intelligent and intentional writing with her lyrics that is allowing her to bridge that gap.
Personally, I have no idea why Espresso blew up all of as sudden, you can't get more generic pop than that. Fells like someone invested a lot to make that song a thing 🤷
@SwieczkaNiweaniewierzeDarek Honestly, same the writing wasn't great, especially the switch it up like Nintendo line. I have nothing against Sabrina, but the same scandalous jokes or whatever for her nonsense outros gets a bit boring she has good songs, but espresso is not one of them .
@@richardfoldes7793Well of course cuz Dua Lipa is not a home wrecker (Ariana) or a girl who doesn't know what to keep to herself (Billie)... Dua is not for all of you guys who like drama and controversy
I noticed that about a year or so ago. Even when you go to clubs today, you'll hear music from the 2010s playing instead of Billie Elliesh or Olivia Rodrigo
I wonder how that will be tho when the teens of this generation get older though! Because when we go to the clubs that 2000s and 2010s pop is still our gen
@@CamrynSuzanne Bars and clubs seem to still be playing the music that we (older Gen Z/late milennial) were dancing to at field day as little kids. Those 2000s-2010s hits.
her and lorde perfected the balance of sadness and danciness in a single song! supercut and your type are both so heartbreaking but so danceable. thank you robyn for paving that road with dancing on my own
This is where K-pop comes into play for me. When I want upbeat, dancy, somewhat corny but fun music, that’s when I listen to K-pop. I come back to more mainstream music when I want something slower and more vibey, if that makes sense lol.
I’ve been saying this since 2017 it’s been going on for years I’m so tired. I recently saw an image of all the pop girlies from around 2011-2012 stood together, Gaga, Rihanna, Katy, Ari, Nicki etc and I was like damn this era really was such a time. Bring it back!!!
I always felt Rihanna was the best at doing both. She had those huge pure pop smashes but when she went dark and moody, it was just so real. I mean…. Russian Roulette is so underrated.
As much as I love sad songs….in pop music there isn’t a balance of sad music and bop pop😭which is what prompted me to start listening to kpop to try and get a balance of bops and sad things
So true! Tension is an amazing album and it's a breath of fresh air in the current music landscape. A part of me still hopes she releases a song featuring Carly Rae Jepsen (another great artist). Somebody to Love from Kylie's Tension would be so perfect with Carly as a feat (same to Sabrina's Espresso)
Yes, I agree. Been a Kylie fan since day one (yes, I'm older) but she does do upbeat pop very well. Even if some songs aren't singles from any of her albums you can bet album tracks alone will be pop bobs. I know this video is covering more recent/younger/current pop girls but I'm sure they're aware of Kylie and all she's done in the upbeat pop arena. Great video by the way.
The industry needs to give Charli her flowers… she’s made so much great pop music in the last 8-10 years… literally some of the most fun music… and nobody talks about it.
i feel like her transition from pop to hyperpop kinda made her a niche artist. she still makes bomb music but i think her demographic is now gays bc they seem to consume hyperpop on a regular.
Pop Bibles: (2010-2015) Teenage Dream - Katy Perry 1989 - Taylor Swift Animal - Kesha The Fame / Monster - Lady Gaga Born This Way - Lady Gaga My Everything - Ariana Grande Loud - Rihanna Prism - Katy Perry Pink Friday / Pink Friday Roman Reloaded - Nicki Minaj Femme Fatale - Britney Spears Get Weird - Little Mix Sucker - Charli XCX Kiss - Carley Rae Jepsen Title - Meghan Trainor The New Classic - Iggy Azalea Who You Are - Jessie J Emotion - Carley Rae Jepsen There are probably more. Also my opinion, I think 2014 was the best year for pop.
@lilmorsecody I need to hook you up on Aespa then. Their music is like steroids. They just released a single called Supernova, you can check that out. My personal favorite fun songs from them are Yeppi Yeppi and Lingo. Legit feel like the songs are forcing me to dance and have a good time, that’s how fun they are. Their title tracks are such gym music tho. Spicy, Next Level (this one’s a remake), Drama, etc. They hype you up. They’re a bit heavy on the instrumentals tho, like the music’s hitting you, that’s why it makes you wanna hit those goals at the gym. But I love that so you won’t hear me complaining, just a heads up.
I’ve *been* saying we need to bring back Punk and Disco. We are seeing a resurgence of pseudo disco/funk type beats but they’re still slow songs. I agree we need fun! A lot of people are saying it’s cuz times are tough right now but historically speaking, that’s when party culture and underground music culture were on the rise. I’m waiting for it 😭
Yes! So true like even with these “fun genres” it’s still giving slow. I also keep seeing a lot of people say “times are tough no one wants to hear happy” but again historically art tends to reflect the opposite
Honestly, you see those BB Hot 100 flashbacks to like 2009-2013 where the entire list song is a club banger that's instantly recognisable - like we had Katy, Britney, Gaga, Rhianna, Kesha, Beyonce all fighting it out. The cycle you described is playing out now where a lot of new dreary pop is giving "I'm not like these other girls". I don't want to sound like a boomer ranting about those "young'ins" but I've definitely noticed that the type of music I vibe with isn't usually top of the conversation. I look to pop music for fun and the glamour and that doesn't mean it can't have substance.
This whole comment 👏🏽 the billboard charts were filled with fun hits. Actual hits! The new music is definitely giving “I’m not like other girls.” so focused on being the contrary. And I do appreciate slower, moodier music. I think a lot of those artists I mentioned in the video are very talented. But in the pop genre, I’d rather have fun
Billboard itself is a problem here as well. Back in the day it only counted single sales and airplay, so the charts seemed more organic because these were the songs that you were surrounded with on a daily basis and actually everyone listened to them, whether willingly or not exactly so. Nowadays, streams matter more than anything, so big fan communities can rally together to forcefully infest the chart with every single track from their favourite artist's album. So, Billboard now is more about how big is your fan base or how much commotion can you cause online with the release of your record. So, it doesn't feel organic anymore because people don't even know these songs that are at the top of the chart 🤷
I love moody pop, I love artists like Billie for that reason, you'd have to pry the sad pop from my cold dead sad hands lol 😭🖤but yeah, there should be a variety for everyone to enjoy. People have looked down so much on upbeat pop for being shallow, but I feel like it's starting to shift. We want to have fun and escape, but pop stars are so unrelatable to the average person, I've noticed so many people are getting tired of celebrities and famous people these days due to their wealth when we're all increasingly struggling. Because of that, I think sad artists will go out of favor because people will be like "what are you sad for, you're rich?", which I don't agree with, anyone can be sad, but I feel like people will not wanna hear it from them anymore.
I think we need more variety within artists. No more 14 variations of the same sound, artists who truly stretch themselves and bring the excitement of not knowing what the next track will sound like.
I think people realize she's just chasing TikTok trend (I mean her bestie is a literal TikToker that people find annoying), but her latest song is pretty good.
@@CamrynSuzanneI think part of the reason is the escapism, oddly enough. Lyrics can be pretty much whatever and just add onto a catchy beat and a good voice, but equally they can make you think and reflect, they can evoke dreams and inspire voices that were once alone and silent. As the complexity of our social, economic, political, and personal issues grow, I think lyrics tend to let us ponder on ways to escape, ways to reshape our thinking, or they simply let us relate our issues with a whole bunch of people that sing them with us. I think we're living through a sharp cultural shift, from the unserious and carefree 2010s, to whatever shitshow this decade has been so far. Dance music just doesn't seem to be as much of an escape anymore, and probably because once the song ends, it's back to the grind to keep the lights on in a half a bedroom shed. Therefore, in order to escape for a little longer, we need more messages in our songs, we need more to cling onto. I think that's why artists like Taylor Swift, who've created a cryptic marketing style, have had such a renaissance. Same thing with Hozier, who's built a unique, lyrically profound style that encourages the recycling of art consumption, and thus, more escapism
I love both! Billie’s new album has some fun songs and so does Olivias. I honestly think 2024s mix of both is super fun! I love radical optimism as well.
see, this is one of the main reasons why i’m a k-pop stan. the music is so fun, entertaining, and versatile. i think of k-pop as more of an umbrella term. there are so many different genres and not one kpop song sounds the same. i definitely think the type of music you listen to has an impact on your mental health. we all need an upbeat song every once in a while. i wish more people would give kpop a chance, because i’m sure they would like a certain song. i think western influences in genre and style are what make kpop so unique, it’s like, a melting pot of sorts. you have one song that’s bubblegum pop, then house, alternative, hip hop, etc. anyways, i went on a tangent, but i wanted to share my thoughts.
I miss when Pop Music was carefree and gave LIFE! These new girls gon keep you in a semi-state of sadness lol!!! Espresso is really giving me hope for that type of pop music again! An era that is emblematic of Pure Pop Perfection is Madonna’s legendary True Blue era that era is GOATED! ✨👑✨🪄
You must be reading my mind bc I was JUST listening to some throwback pop music a couple hours ago and was thinking the same thing! I miss the dance pop era so much!!
Avril Lavigne is releasing a greatest hits album and has a greatest hits world tour right now. She is also performing in this year's Glastonbury Festival to prove it.
I was going to say it but someone beat me to it. Dua Lipa's Radical Optimism is right here but ppl hate to acknowledge her evolution to include her writing. This is that album that is both fun, introspective and sonically bops. As for me I have Kylie and Dua to keep my pure pop perfection fun fusion in my playlists
Yeah, I feel like people aren’t paying attention to radical optimism as much as they did her previous album. I will always give Dua her props as a pop artist
I feel she needs to put a deluxe version of the album with some bangers to tie up the album together coz rite now the album feels incomplete . There are good songs but it definitely feels lacking especially with the mix up of her idea of the album and the actual album .
Same!!! I love my sad girlies 🥰 I'm a sad girly but we need some balance. When I heard Taylor's tortured poets... All I could think was 😫 I'm just so tired of everyone trying to be the same. Girl give us some fun stuff!
y'all should listen to rina sawayama, specifially her album called SAWAYAMA (she has another one but I haven't heard it). i feel like her music has the 'deeper' message that the dark pop girlies want but also gets you bopping and dancing. some songs on the album are a little slow and she has a rock-ish theme in a few but the album is perfection!! so underrated
I think ppl should make more music like Mr. Worldwide (pitbull) his music is always SO fun to dance to. it’s definitely club music, and it also puts me in a good mood.
I gotta say she Ate that! Especially that part where she said the fun pop music doesn't have to be generic or just for nostalgia, why not try something deeper and unique to your style… SHE’S RIGHT! 🔥🤩
What I love about Britney is that she gives both, with the singles being upbeat and some moody songs in the albums. Also some songs have sadder lyrics with upbeat sound which I like
It’ll come back around. Sabrina, Tate, Olivia and more have definitely started to bring into the mainstream. I feel like it might even match up to the recession pop era. We’re all so down and need music to lift our spirits back up. I don’t mind the darker side of pop though but I feel like a shift is needed again.
I’m surprised Ava max was not mentioned. Despite her sampling issue she makes solid pop music. I recently went back to her two albums and they were quite impressive and was surprised that nobody cared for them when they arrived. The songs individually would’ve dominated in the early 2010s
Ava is my favorite newer pop act. She's the only one I can think of who makes unapologetic, pure dance-pop. I think if she debuted in the early 2010s she would've been a huge artist. She has a great sound, just the wrong era, unfortunately.
2:25 my first thought was "LANA! Mizz Lizzie Grant!" Only because I was thinking of newer girls like Billie & Olivia & dem gals there, and how they've cited Lana as an influence. May be a reach, but her legacy can't be denied.
I LOVE CHAPPELL ROAN, she definitely has her slower ballads but when you think of her you think of her horny girly light hearted pop with killer vocals ❤❤
I like sad music like billie ellish, lana del rey, olivia rodirgo, melanie martinez etc it makes me feel seen and less alone and listneing to happy songs don't really make me feel better but I get what you mean some people see happy pop music as escapism and they just want to have fun, that's great and I think its great of both forms of pop exist and gets their time under the sun.
Love that you mentioned Avril Lavigne, she's one of my favourite artists ever. I enjoy listening to moody pop because it's relatable, but I also love fun pop too because it makes me so happy. My favourite fun pop songs right now are Espresso and Been Like This
I adore the way you edit your videos! Such cute little touches of effects that I appreciate so much! Whether it's yourself or an editing team responsible, someone deserves a raise.
This is why I love Tik Tok. I am constantly discovering fun, sexy music that is completely off the radar. Fun music still exists, just not on the radio!
Yes I feel that there are artists absolutely giving it, it's just more about what the main stream trends have been. I'm hoping more of these artists find more visibility!
My clinically depressed self is happy with the amount of sad pop that we have nowadays, but I also love a good bop. Give me a nice beat and some catchy lyrics to dance around my kitchen on my good days. I thinnk most people just don't apreaciate joy enough - I remember when Taylor's album Lover came out and a lot of people didn't enjoy the song Paper Rings because it was too "pop-y" or wtv, and I just thought "Damn, a lot of people don't like to have fun". Because yes, it's not Taylor's best written song, but it's not supposed to be, it's just a happy beat about being in love. I think that the problem is (partially) the "tortured artist" myth, which makes us think that an artist's best work only can be developed while they're in pain. But that is a load of bullshit, because if you're mental health is deteriorading, then how can you be trully productive and fully expressing yourself? Remember kids: various of Van Gogh's most famous works were made while he was is an asylum, activally getting treated for his mental illnesses. And he was not the only artist in a position like this. There is no romanticism in suffering, so we, as a society, have to get out of our high horses and realise that no one is better than anyone else for enjoying art that makes the public feel more upbeat. Just because something has a different mood, it doesn't mean that it's meaningless or that it isn't thought provoking. And even if it is just a happy and silly song, that doesn't mean that it isn't clever or criative. I mean, have you heard Mooo! by Doja Cat? That is the pinacle of slly songs. Or even Bad Guy, it's just a fun and silly song - even Billie said it herself. tl;dr: Guys, it's okay to be happy and joyfull - actually, appreciate those feelings, because you never know what might happen in the future. PS: For those who want happy beats, try to listen to japanese pop songs. There seems to be this tendency in j-pop in which, even if the lyrics are sad as fuck, 95% of the time the song is upbeat. So, if you don't speak japanese and want to pretend to listen to a happy song, perhaps you should try it out. Maybe start with some citypop classics from the 80s and 90s, like Miki Matsubara. Hope you like it
Very valid😭 but Artist have also historically put out lighter music during tough times. I was reminiscing about late 2000s pop but we went through a horrible recession during that time in and life was tough
@@CamrynSuzanne hahaha 100% I’m half joking but also it genuinely is REALLY hard to make feel good music when u don’t feel good I feel like that’s best suited for major label artists who get fed their lyrics in writing sessions But since there’s basically no artists development anymore that’s gone
THANK YOU. This has been going on for way too long now. Started in 2015 with trap beats and then transitioned straight into the lofi hell we're in now. I was just thinking this the other day. Lately, even at work (I work in a bar) ive been finding myself playing the bangers of 2010s like Katy, gaga, Rhianna, kesha etc just to uplift the mood. No one makes these upbeat style party bangers anymore and its sad

Sabrina is truly trying to revive this genre of pop. I think that is why Beyonce releasing Renaissance was so important because as much as you want to feel, you really want to just shake it and forget about the world for a bit. But even if it is "nonsense" (no pun intended), rappers come with nonsensical music on the regular, other genres as well, but because the genres are not pop, they are seen as better than.
Yes yes yes!! I wish I would’ve mentioned this
I believe Lana started the first wave with her album Born to Die at very early part of 2010s.
Sorry but Lords music isn’t great
@@Primorska.mapper no one said it was, they just pointed out how the song started this ball rolling
Yeah. Also I heard somebody say Lorde killed fun pop music and Dua Lipa revived it. Is that accurate? I think it is.
Girl I really want you to discuss what happened to the MALE pop star I feel like that’s a conversation the girls need to wake up why did the men stop making good pop music ??
Great video idea!! I will look into doing this
i blame lewis capaldi. his whiny breathy almost tryhard sounding singing is what 90% of the male singers rn are doing. even then, artists like ed sheeran kinda got left behind. the weeknd and bruno mars (with silk sonic) are the only ones who provided something akin to what female pop stars are doing rn.
@@MarcDoesNotKnow I think it's the white male pop artists (Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, etc.) that are the problem. POC male artists like Abel, Bruno Mars, and K-pop idols are still giving us amazing pop bangers.
K-pop male idols took over 😅

but its not a bop..

This is where K-pop comes into play for me. When I want upbeat, dancy, somewhat corny but fun music, that’s when I listen to K-pop. I come back to more mainstream music when I want something slower and more vibey, if that makes sense lol.
tbh i think this is one reason why k-pop has gained more popularity nowadays
I’ve been saying this since 2017 it’s been going on for years I’m so tired. I recently saw an image of all the pop girlies from around 2011-2012 stood together, Gaga, Rihanna, Katy, Ari, Nicki etc and I was like damn this era really was such a time. Bring it back!!!
This. 100%
Gaga, Rihanna and Katy were the holy trinity of the early 2010's.
2017 rlly was a downfall for pop music
I always felt Rihanna was the best at doing both. She had those huge pure pop smashes but when she went dark and moody, it was just so real. I mean…. Russian Roulette is so underrated.
People wrote and produced for her. She’s just a pawn.
As much as I love sad songs….in pop music there isn’t a balance of sad music and bop pop😭which is what prompted me to start listening to kpop to try and get a balance of bops and sad things

5 consecutive decades with number one albums and Kylie Minogue's music is still the epitome of pop perfection for me.
Very true! I regret forgetting to mention her
I also feel like the reason Doja cat is so popular is because she makes fun bops in a music landscape that is kind of depressing at the moment
Absolutely 🙌🏽
The industry needs to give Charli her flowers… she’s made so much great pop music in the last 8-10 years… literally some of the most fun music… and nobody talks about it.

YES!! I love listening to 80s disco bc of how funky it is
Yeah. We also need to bring back Italodance, trance, màkina and Eurobeat as well.
Yeah. It is really a cycle.
I think this is why I've been leaning more towards kpop when I don't actually want to think about my feelings, and i want something fun and silly 😁

I love the fact we have different forms of pop 😂 if we only had “moody pop”, “bubblegum pop” etc. it gets boring lol. We need a good mix of all
In short, we need more variety in the pop music landscape. Something for everyone to relate to depending on their tastes.
This, because there is a space for multiple sounds, but there needs to be more of a balance
I think we need more variety within artists. No more 14 variations of the same sound, artists who truly stretch themselves and bring the excitement of not knowing what the next track will sound like.
I think it's heavily tied to 90s nostalgia. Alanis Morrisette, Blondie, No Doubt, Tori Amos etc.
Blondie is 90s?
Adding Fionna Apple and the Cranberries
90s also had ace of base, 4 non blondes, vengaboys, aqua, Selena, and 90s moody Shakira
90s nostalgia has been going on since the early 2010s though
@@asli9812 more like late 2010s cuz the early 2010s was VERY 80s nostalgia-based

Making good bubblegum pop is a lot harder now when we require more behind those lyrics. Finding meaning in music for longevity 🤷🏾♀️
I think consumers generally are requiring more in that area, in pop as a personal thing, i don’t need super profound lyrics. At least not for pop

I feel like the closer we have to campy/fun pop music is chappel roan for an example “good luck babe” or “pink pony club”

While I like bumble-gum pop, I wanna hear more electronic/pop songs and albums like Loud, Femme Fatale, Animal, Nothing But The Beat etc.
NONE OF THE DEPRESSING VIBES! LETS HAVE FUN!
Exactly!!
Pop girlies, guys and gays just cannot win.
Yeah sabrina rn is really giving! I’m very excited to see what’s in store for her because her sound is exactly what is needed in pop rn
Dua Lipa has been bringing back this genre, Sabrina just caught on though.. Like Dua is literally the face of fun disco pop vibe.
@@lolalane7031 Sabrina has not just caught on she been making cute fun pop songs since 2016 with sue me, almost love, why and more is that a lot of people were sleeping on her music
New artist and old artist are not afraid too try new things in entertainment industry and film drama industry as well
@@ramonajavier5938 I was referring to the comment saying that she is bringing back this fun disco pop sound. She has not been doing with she has been doing with expresso until now that’s why she is getting recognition now but she was not the first one to bring it back it was Dua and Doja during quarantine. Therefore, It’s not Sabrina innovating it at all if she is just doing what other artists brought back 😭
I've just stumbled across this video. I enjoyed what you had to say about this topic. You are very eloquent and articulate. I'm happy to subscribe and am looking forward to your future content!
Wow, thank you!😊🫶🏽
Hemlocke springs is really bringing back the upbeat 80s music and I love it
I’ve been thinking about this for awhile and your video perfectly explained it.
Glad i could put it into words!
All those songs released in 2000 and 2010's stood the test of time, they're all still fresh , fun , made all the girls iconic
2024 musically has started very well and there are many bops compared to 2023 and i trully hope to continue like that
Justice for radical optimism !!!!
I think we're slowly going back to fun pop cause of the recession pop phenomena that caused Beyoncé to release Renaissance
Yesss I agree, things are slowly shifting back to that fun pop
that same formula will not work this time imo, people back then had a different mentality and perception of hard times
I feel like a lot of people would benefit giving k-pop a try for more upbeat pop music! That’s where I go whenever I need something more lighthearted, groups like IVE, New Jeans, IZ*ONE, and Twice make rlly good upbeat music imo
