my first hive my mentor set up for me, has a prolific queen. got a second hive going out of it to keep the first from swarming.
they now have a deep super 70% full of honey. I could not get them to make comb, but the heavy nectar flow did

      Yeah, nectar will do that.

There's never a year without a series of oops moments. At least I've yet to see it.

I got my first bees on May 15, 2021. How long would you suggest I feed them sugar water?

Until they don't need it anymore, or you have a super on. What I mean by don't need it is, that they have built up the brood area of wax, have some food stored, and have a good and building brood nest. Once you're sure of those things, usually that means 80% or so of the brood nest is built, nectar is coming in, you can stop feeding them.

I have a question how do you slow the bees down from reproducing I started off at 3 nukes end of last year I have six three deep hives 15 6 frame nukes and four five frame nukes. I got to build more boxes. And I put three in hollow trees in the woods. I was told they reproduce like rabbits they should have said rats.lol

Don’t feed unless absolutely necessary and add supers when needed. They build up for one reason and that is to hoard nectar for winter then reproduce by swarming.

@@cowdudy I've done distracted honey twice four or five gallon buckets the only thing I feed is when they are nuke but once they get a frame of sugar syrup I quit

@@cowdudy the only thing that has food on them that I put there is the three nukes the five frames

Sounds like a great problem to have, honestly. I agree with Steve. Split 'em in the spring and add space when necessary. As long as they don't get honeybound you can usually get away for the rest of the year by just adding honey boxes.

Brett. Do you not clean the comb off the inner covers and top bars while you’re there n there? Or do you do it off cam?

This is a comment I get pretty often. Admittedly, I don't do this as often as I should. I normally wait for it to become an issue and then spend a whole day cleaning burr comb off of everything.
