diamond structure is equivalent to two interpenetrating FCC displaced ,by quarter diagonal length ,along Body diagonal. by this way we can calculate atomic radius as (sqrt{3}/8)*a and packing efficiency of 34 % . ............It is quite loosly packed structure
It is difficult for me to imagine 2 interpenetrating fcc lattice for diamond crystal...is there any video for it..?? I'm searching for a long time...🥺🥺😭😭
4 completaly enclosed atoms + 8*1/8 effective corner atoms+6*1/2 effective face atoms= 8 effective atoms in diamond structure with each carbon having 4 nearest neighbours i.e, CN ....same is also true for Zinc bland structure . but there are dissimilar atoms in voids here unlike in former

Impressive. I see clearly now there are 4 atoms inside the cube now, each in a tetrahedral center of the smaller 1/8 cube
Carbon atoms at corner :- 8
